British people are bragging that they're not the most racist idiots in the world anymore.

Well, it happened. Donald Trump has been elected President of the United States. And while he hopefully won't be able to deliver on his campaign promises like a billion dollar border wall and a Muslim ban, there was one thing he certainly delivered on: a Brexit-level upset.

British people, in their goofy, passive-aggressive way, were quite glad that they're not the focus of so much negative attention anymore.

On election night 2016, recreational marijuana was legalized in California, Massachusetts, and Nevada, while voters in Florida, North Dakota, and Arkansas approved medical marijuana.

And that's the only thing that happened on Tuesday, right? Phew.

Here are 19 people trying to focus on the victory of legal weed instead of Hillary Clinton's shocking loss.

The internet is trying to guilt Michelle Obama back into the White House in 2020.

I think it's safe to say that America was shocked last night to learn that Donald Trump would be its next president. We are a resilient nation, so the good people of the internet are already looking ahead to 2020. Twitter is being flooded with requests for the current FLOTUS/goddess Michelle Obama to run for president in 2020. Think they can guilt her into it? Come on, Mrs. Obama. You don't want to let all these people down do you?

Look, Michelle, I know you said you wanted out of the White House, but the people (or at least, the people of the internet) have spoken. Start those campaign bus engines! See you in 2020!

Lady Gaga wasted no time protesting outside of Trump Tower.

Many were crushed by a Clinton's surprising loss to Donald Trump last night, but not everyone is sitting around crying about it. Lady Gaga hit the streets to protest the President-to-be early Wednesday morning by standing in front of Trump Tower with an American flag holding a sign that says "Love trumps hate."

Gaga, who was a very vocal Clinton supporter, uploaded the picture of her peaceful protest with the caption "I want to live in a #CountryOfKindness #LoveTrumpsHate He divided us so carelessly. Let's take care now of each other."

We feel you, Gaga.

This dad's letter to his daughters after Trump won provides some much-needed comfort.

Donald Trump was elected president, and among the many questions (How? Why? Really?) is how do people explain this to their children. Many little girls went to bed on November 8th psyched to wake up to a female president-elect, but instead got a well-documented serial sexual assaulter. 'Murrica!

Here's how one guy, Joel Levin, broke the news to his daughters, which is a good example of how to be the messenger. There will likely be a lot of it in the years to come.

Dear Josie and Ellie,

I know that you asked me to wake you up when we learned who won the election. But I just could not bring myself to do it. I am very sorry to let you know that Donald Trump has won. He will be the President for at least the next four years.

Mom and I are very upset by this. And we know you will be, too. But we want you to know a few things:

1. We are not alone. Millions and millions of people voted for Hillary Clinton. They share our shock and disbelief this morning.

2. You do not need to be afraid. Even though you have heard hateful things about Trump and his supporters, there are ALWAYS people that will stand up to that hate. And together we will protect each other and the values we find important.

3. There is a lot to be hopeful about. This is not the end of a fight. This is just another chapter of a struggle that has been going on for a long, long time. If you look at the progress that we have made as a country (and as a planet), you will see that there is much to celebrate. This kind of setback happens often, and we usually bounce back even stronger.

You have learned in school a lot about the dream of what America can be. Today you might be learning that there is still a long way to go before that dream becomes reality for everyone. But I still believe in that dream very strongly. And so should you.

I hope this experience [sic] helps you will understand why Mom and I spend a lot of time and energy fighting for things that we believe in. Why we speak up when we see something that we think is wrong. We hope that as you grow up and make up your own minds about things, that you'll join us in the struggle. We know that your passions will allow you to accomplish great things.

Days like this are hard. But they are also great reminders for how important it is to keep fighting for what is right. And we will!

Love,

Dad

Thanks, Mr. Levin.

Let's fight on.

Ellen DeGeneres says America's already great because of all our differences.

In a message recorded on Tuesday afternoon, America' gay sweetheart, Ellen DeGeneres, recorded a funny, hopeful message for this country, basically reassuring everyone that, in the end, Americans are more alike than different.

She pointed out that we all love the United States, but we just have different ideas about what's best for it. Of course, at this point, most people did not expect Donald Trump to win, but DeGeneres' message presumably remains the same, regardless of which nominee won.

She encourages people to be kind and respectful towards each other—everyone except for those jerks who leave shopping carts in the middle of parking spaces at the mall. Screw those people.

Canada threw a savage subtweet at America on election night.

Last night, as it became apparent that anti-immigration candidate Donald Trump was poised to take the presidency, Canada decided to make the following statement on Twitter:

In Canada, immigrants are encouraged to bring their cultural traditions with them and share them with their fellow citizens.

First of all, Canada has it's own Twitter account? That's weird.

Second, daaaaammmmmn. You trying to rub something in, Canada?

Twitter user Jason Bowman was the first to catch the perceived slight.

For the blissfully uninitiated, subtweeting is when you tweet out a message mocking or criticizing another party without directly calling them out by name. It's the height of passive-aggression, which is why this Canadian responded to Bowman's tweet that, in Canada, "passive aggression is our way."

Others were more optimistic about the tweet's intention, suggesting that the tweet was an invitation.

Considering Canada's immigration website crashed as America's votes were tallied, it might be hard for everyone to take Canada up on the offer, but that's not going to stop many Americans from trying anyway.

Still, the timing of Canada's pro-immigration brag was not coincidental. It's safe to say Canada sees themselves as above us for more reasons than just how we appear on the map.

For the majority of the country whose election anxieties were just replaced with presidential anxieties, today could be a really tough day. If you are in desperate search for some good news—political or otherwise, check out this list of not-crappy happenings that are going on right now.

1. Martin Shkreli is releasing his unheard Wu-Tang Clan album.

America's shitlord Martin Shkreli vowed that if Donald Trump won the election, he would release his coveted Wu-Tang Clan album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, which he previously bought for $2 million at auction. Turns out he is actually making good on his promise.

He is currently uploading segments of the album onto YouTube, and according to MTV News, is planning on releasing the album in full. Even though Shrekli is a bona fide turd, it is somewhat gratifying that he has to share.

2. Pulse Nightclub will be turned into a memorial.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer just announced that the city is planning on buying the Pulse Nightclub and turning it into a memorial. Pulse's owner sold the property for $2.25 million.

For the next 12-18 months, the cite will remain untouched so visitors can pay their respects.

3. There are now four women of color in the Senate.

That number has quadrupled! Rep. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, California Attorney General Kamala Harris and former Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto will join Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii (who was elected in 2012) as state Senators.

Additionally, Pramila Jayapal of Washington has been elected to the House of Representatives.

4. This dude found his wedding ring in a weird place three years after losing it.

According to German broadcaster WDR, an 82-year-old man found his lost wedding ring in a carrot in his garden three years after losing it.

The man, who has been married to his wife for over 50 years, just assumed he had misplaced it, and it would turn up somewhere. Well it did!

5. Recreational marijuana is legal in California now.

California voted to pass Proposition 64 on Tuesday, which makes recreational marijuana legal statewide. Now you don't have to pretend to get migraines just to score some weed.

If you're over the age of 21, you can possess, transport, buy and use up to an ounce of cannabis. You are also allowed to own up to six marijuana plants.

6. This snail found a mate despite the odds, so don't give up!

Dating is hard, but it's even harder when you are a snail with an extremely rare, left-spiralling shell that makes it nearly impossible to mate with other snails.

Jeremy, a snail with a left-spiralling shell, has been matched with Lefty, a snail with the same left-aligned anatomy.

So far they haven't mated yet, but they have been flirting pretty consistently, which is a good sign.

7. Toys R Us offers "quiet hours" for children with autism.

Toys R Us stores in the UK have begun rolling out "quiet hours" to make the shopping experience more pleasant for children with autism.

Stores will open an hour early and accommodate the needs of a child with autism by dimming the lighting, turning off the music and banning in-store announcements.

8. Jewell Jones becomes the youngest state representative in Michigan's history.

While most young people are extremely disillusioned by politics right now, a 21-year-old Councilman from Inkster City, Michigan was just voted into the House of Representatives. He is the youngest Representative in the state's history.

Representative Jones, a democrat, is a student enrolled at University of Michigan-Dearborn and is in the Army Reserves.

Kylie Jenner's dogs have their own room, because of course they do.

Kylie Jenner's posh home has enough room for her, Tyga, a bunch of cars (probably), and a room just for her dogs, Norman and Bambi. The 19-year-old makeup maven posted some Snaps of her Hidden Hills, CA house on Tuesday, including ones of the dog cave (like a man cave but for dogs) she set up for her pups, replete with fireplace (which they should not be in charge of).

In another Snap, she posted a picture of a shelf (#shelfie) with two Italian greyhound figurines on it, to represent Norman and Bambi, along with the caption"Clearly I'm not obsessed."

The Snap doesn't show too much else in the dog room, but we can only assume there is also a champagne fountain, temperature-controlled dog treat fridge, miniature stationery bikes for exercise, and large flat screen TV showing Lassie reruns 24/7.

Well, if you're going to be obsessed with something, dogs are not a bad choice.

Woops, this guy's apocalypse t-shirt just got a lot less funny.

As the country and the entire world deal with a scenario almost no one foresaw—the election of Donald Trump for president—one guy's fashion choice is getting a lot of attention on Reddit.

Many, Trump included, have compared the businessman's electoral success in the face of all convention wisdom to the success of Britain's referendum to leave the EU back in June.

Now that 2016's checked Brexit and the election of Trump off the list, there's only one thing left.

"I bought this t-shirt as a joke after Brexit," wrote Reddit user neutralinallthings. "What have you done, America?"

Internet strangers help grieving dad uncover his late wife's lullabies.

Here's some uplifting news for you today: Thanks to the help of strangers on Reddit, a man in Utah has recordings of his late wife's lullabies.

Jared Buhanan-Decker's wife Sharry passed away after an emergency C-section while giving birth to their son, JJ. When Jared brought JJ home, he started going through Sharry's belongings. On her computer, he found a bunch of songs she had recorded years ago, but didn't have the skills or technology necessary to convert the files. So, he consulted Reddit for help. In a post to the site he wrote:

This may be the wrong subreddit but any help or direction would be fabulous! Odd request for help. My wife recently died during the childbirth of our first baby, needless to say life has been hell the last two months. She dabbled in writing and recording songs nothing professional of course but very important to me. I found her backups but they are all in the PTF format which I have discovered is the "protools" session. I do not want to buy the expensive pro tools (will if required) but want to figure out if there is any simple way to convert these into MP3 or another more user friendly format? She knew how to do all of this stuff but I have no idea. I just want to be able to hear her voice again. Thank you.

Well, the strangers of Reddit came through. Jared told ABC News that "dozens responded very quickly and hundreds sent me messages on the post or through inbox." He said that he was moved by these strangers' empathy and willingness to help.

"One of my favorites was somebody that really cleaned up the tracks and made them really shine, removed some of the reverb," Jared said.

So now Jared has Sharry's recordings and he and JJ are free to listen to the songs as they please. "They're like lullabies to me and JJ," he said.

The world's not all bad. Yay for the kindness of strangers!

'The Simpsons' predicted a Donald Trump presidency in 2000.

Astute viewers of The Simpsons probably remember that the long-running TV show predicted a Donald Trump presidency over 16 years ago. Back in 2000, during its eleventh season, The Simpsons aired an episode called "Bart to the Future," where, with the help of a Native American medicine man, Bart Simpson gets a glimpse 30 years into the future. He turns out to be a washed up loser, while his sister Lisa is the "first straight female president," and apparently taking leadership of the country following President Trump.

In the above clip, at around the 2:20 mark, you can see President Lisa Simpson (oh, if only) sitting in the Oval Office, saying, "As you know, we've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump."

In March of 2016, Dan Greaney, the writer of the episode, told The Hollywood Reporter the episode was a "warning to America," explaining that the idea of President Trump "just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane." He added,"What we needed was for Lisa to have problems that were beyond her fixing, that everything went as bad as it possibly could, and that's why we had Trump be president before her."

As every American struggles to make sense of a presidential election that surprised and divided us all, it's important to take comfort in the simple pleasures that unite us—like watching pimples get popped. Granted, it doesn't unite ALL of us, but at least it's nonpartisan.

Here's Dr. Sandra Lee popping some sweet steatocystomas on her beloved patient Momma Squishy. Watching it will help.

Cry along with Miley Cyrus’s post-election video.

Miley Cyrus posted a really insightful, emotional video after Donald Trump was elected president. Not kidding—you might find yourself surprised to say, "Thank you, Hannah Montana for articulating exactly how I'm feeling!"

The singer/actor/activist/Voice judge shared a tearful video on Facebook about the dual-devastation of a President Trump and Hillary Clinton's loss.

It's like "Leave Britney Alone," but about something that really matters.

"Please treat people with love, treat people with compassion, and treat people with respect."

Amen.

Hear's hoping president-elect Trump watched the video. And he might, because it features a beautiful, young celebrity.

George Takei, who survived interment camps, offers message of hope.

0

If you're feeling hopeless over the results of last night's election, here's a much-needed pep talk from America's kooky liberal grandpa, George Takei. The Star Trek star, who is gay and survived Japanese internment camps, took to Twitter this morning to remind America not to lose hope over the "unthinkable" results. Because this isn't the first time America has gone through the unthinkable, and he would know.

Takei, who warned America not to vote for Trump, urged those who voted against him to "not despair" and to "stand up defiantly to any dark or divisive acts." Here's his advice, in a very grandfatherly 7-point list:

No matter what happens, you can always count on a grandpa to remind you that things could be worse.
