For better or worse, your entire life can change in the course of a day. At the drop of a hat, someone can go from blissful and blessed to down in the dumps, and oftentimes the transition is easier to see if you're not the one navigating all the trauma.

In a recent Reddit thread people shared the times they watched another person's entire life change in the couse of a day, and these truly prove that life is endless chaos.

1. HellHathNoFlurry's classmate took justice into their own hands.

"One day during my Junior year in high school (back in the 1980s) I came downstairs on a Saturday morning and my mom asked me "Do you know Bob Johnson?"* I said "Yeah, I sit next to him in English". She turned the local newspaper around and there was Bob on the front page in handcuffs."

"He had murdered his dad and tried to cover it up. Apparently his dad had been raping him for years, and Bob finally had enough. Shot his dad in the head with a .22 while he slept. Fortunately the courts were lenient. They gave him a new identity, moved him out to somewhere in the Midwest, and gave him counseling."

"I guess this one day ruined his dad's life, and saved his own. I saw him on Facebook a couple of years ago. He's using his real name, is married with kids, and working as a driver for one of the big parcel delivery services. I'm so glad his life turned out pretty normal. * not his real name"

2. soyeljefe69 saw a bartender lose it all.

"Man came in to rob the bar I was drinking in, bartender told him to get fucked. Man shot him twice in the crotch and walked out."

3. Spacecubist's neighbor had a nightmare day.

"My neighbor knocked on the front door early one morning. We’d never met. He introduced himself and wanted me to know why there might be a lot of cars parked in front of the house. All three of his children had died in a car accident the night before."

4. FullMetal785's school resource officer was giving out the wrong resource.

"A girl in my class got caught with a thermos full of vodka and when the teacher caught her, she got sent to the principal's office. Well when the principal asked her why she was drinking, the girl told him that she had been sleeping with the school resource officer. Dude was a cop stationed at the school having sex with a 10th grader."

"Got dragged out of the school by officers that worked alongside him. At the court hearing they found out he was having sex with 2 more girls at the school. His wife and 2 kids were in the courtroom to support him because he told them he was innocent. That kinda caved when one of the girls had a video of the two of them having sex..."

5. rdeyer had to break some tough news.

"Doing an MRI on a 33 year old healthy man, because he was a bit dizzy, and finding a golf ball tumor in his brain. Read the radiology report, googled type of tumor, finding only 5% survive.

Edit: I should also say that i do a LOT of 30-something year olds who come in for head issues and almost every single one of them are fine."

6. EdwardWarren went to a Fourth of July parade from hell.

"We were standing on a downtown corner watching 4th of July parade when we saw the parents of one of the players on a soccer team I coached talk to someone and began running like hell through the crowd with panic stricken faces. Someone came to our door later and told us the Matt, their 10 years old son, had jumped off a float to get some candy thrown by someone on another float and had tripped. The float he was on ran over his head killing him. Our son was on the same float and hadn't gotten home yet. One of the most depressing moment in my life. The parents were never the same. The people on floats in our town never threw candy again. I think of Matt every Fourth of July."

7. LotusPrince's dad witnessed the effects of Enron's downfall.

"My dad used to work at Prudential Financial, and he told me that in the days after Enron's stock suddenly dropped to nothing, some of his coworkers just walked around like zombies. Apparently they'd put a ton of money into Enron, and were now completely screwed."

8. Sal4Sale heard about a paramedic who freaked out and lost it all.

"When I was in EMT school we were told about a paramedic student (instructor was a paramedic as well) who observed a stabbing call."

"They arrive at the bar and see a dude with a knife in his abdomen, medic student takes lead and pulls the knife out, something you never do as I’m sure you know. Senior Medic loses his fucking mind at this dumbass, asking him what the fuck he was thinking. Student freaks out and, you guessed it, puts the fucking knife back in."

"The patient died as a result, student lost any chance of having a good job (not even just in EMS) and was charged with the death of the patient (might’ve been manslaughter I don’t remember). His entire life was ruined because he freaked out and made a mistake on a call, not a rookie mistake or a common slip up, but in about half a minute he ruined his life."

9. orancs-for_life knows a woman who needs all of the hugs.

"Have a friend who's boss got into a gnarly car accident a week ago. Today she was officially told she's paralyzed from the waist down. She was also notified today that her husband died (non car accident related) I don't know exactly why he passed but to go from a happy life with your soulmate to not being able to walk and have your life partner is something I can't imagine recovering soon from."

10. em_cou's classmate experienced hell.

"When I was like 9 or something, a boy from my class was killed by his mother before she committed suicide. I saw it on the news that night, only to learn it was him the next morning."

11. lvhockeytrish knows the value of life jackets.

"Watched a mom and her kid on a boat escorted by law enforcement back to the dock. Her boyfriend had gone swimming off the boat. The wind pushed the vessel away from him. She didn't know anything about how to turn it on to move it closer. It kept getting farther, he kept swimming harder. He eventually slipped under, and was recovered 80 feet down a few days later. I'll never forget the look on her face. Never."

"He was a 28 year old airman. Peak health.

Wear a life jacket, people. You are not stronger than mother nature. And don't leave a boat without someone who can drive it (safely.)"

12. melindseyme's friend has a lot to unpack.

"My friend's husband produced and consumed child porn, including some photos of their children and nephews. She found out when DHS raided their apartment. It tore her life apart. She's doing well now, though. Divorced (obviously), and he no longer has any parental rights. She's still struggling to help her kids process the whole thing."

13. Dapper_Doughty's coworker is going to need a lot of therapy.

"I work as a Registered Nurse in a hospital in Kentucky. A patient came in through the ER raising hell and yelling things like "I want to donate my organs! This place sucks! Fuck all of you! Etc. Etc"

"He stomped out the front ER entrance and a CNA (nurses assistant) followed him out to attempt at calming him down. He brandished a .45 and blew his brains out in front of the young assistant.

He died. Organs couldn't be harvested. And she is in therapy."

14. EmeraldGlimmer's neighbors learned the danger of a sleepy babysitter.

"When I was a kid I lived in an apartment complex. One of the families had 3 young kids. One day the parents needed to run some errands so they hired a babysitter to watch the kids. The babysitter fell asleep, and one of the kids started playing with some matches. The parents came home to huge billowing clouds of smoke and fire coming from all the windows. All 3 kids and the babysitter died. They were only gone for about an hour."

15. bananaoohnanahey knows a story straight from a movie.

"Not my personal experience but a national news story- A van full of college students got into an accident and most of them died but one girl survived with MAJOR injuries. She had facial trauma and was hospitalized for weeks."

"She kept repeating another girl’s name as she was recovering. Turns out, she was saying her own name. She and another similarly built, same hair and eye-colored female passenger were mistakenly identified for each other in the aftermath of the crash."

"Her family had a funeral for her, and the other girl’s family were the ones at her bedside before the misidentification was realized."

"I cannot even imagine the suffering of thinking your daughter was alive for weeks and then learning she’d been dead all along OR having a funeral for a child who was actually alive and you didn’t know."

16. hotrodruby's old coworker got caught being a predator.

"A guy that I worked with asked to have Friday night off as he was going out of town... Turns out he went to go meet with an underage girl he met on Craigslist, that ended up actually being a giant police sting. He was arrested for soliciting a minor. That was probably 6 years ago and the last I heard he was still locked up."

17. powerlesshero111 knew a paramedic who will never experience last call the same.

Like 7ish years ago, a bunch of the crew chiefs at my guard base were out celebrating one of their own who got his associate's degree. They were all drinking, not a ton, and eventually went home. Except for one guy. He stayed and drank until last call. He decided to drive home. He hit a 20 year old who was on his way to work at about 2am, and turned him into a parapaplegic.

Our wing commander basically told him, plead guilty (to the county) and go to jail with an administrative discharge (his family would have been able to keep some of his benefits, like the VA loan and GI Bill), or fight it, lose, cost his family tons of money, and get a dishonorable (dishonorable basically is like you never even served). He plead guilty.

"Edit: Dishonorable like you never served in regards to benefits, any bonuses you received you have to pay back, medals are rescinded. It is also listed on job applications, and people will deny you because of it. I know a Dishonorable is like a felony, but to do it is a long process, regardless if he got convicted in civilian criminal court. His discharge was a "hey, you still have 2 years left in your contract before re-enlistment, so you're just going to resign that right now instead".

"Also, to the people who think that he got away Scott free, he didn't. He went to jail. Felony DUI and assault with a deadly weapon or something like that. The wing commander only allowed him to do at least one selfless thing and still be able to transfer his GI bill and va loan to his family. He also had to pay medical expenses for the kid he hit, and probably other damages as well, so it's not like he got a free pass on that."

18. Night-Sky-Rebel witnessed instant death.

"When I was about 13 I was talking with my best friend at a playground on a hill. Suddenly this lady comes racing down on her bike, she's not wearing a helmet which was unfortunate because her bike slipped from underneath her and she goes flying, smacks her her head into a corner. I was too young to know this at the time but I'm almost certain she died instantly. Wear a helmet."

19. andreagassi's coworker went from 0-100 real quick.

"Coworker got caught stealing and got fired. He went home and told his wife, and apparently she had enough and left him and took the kids. Police found him the next morning in the woods deceased.

I saw a mans life just crumble in less than 24 hours."

"Edit: Ok for some context. When I say steal, I mean close to $100,000 in precious metals from a cushy federal government job.

Edit2: he was going to be arrested and knew it. Also, he killed himself for everyone asking."

20. aquay's coworker pretty much experienced a telenovela.

"The first one that pops to mind is one of my coworkers arriving at work sobbing hysterically. It took a while to calm her down to the point where we could understand anything she was saying. I thought she must have been robbed or something, but it turned out she'd just found love letters in her car, from her mother to her husband. All I could think was that a) if that were me, the last thing I'd do is show up to work and tell everybody, and b) I'd probably drive off a cliff."

"Or … I don't know, murder my husband? How do you ever recover from that? I mean, if my husband was just having an affair with a chick or another man, I'd just divorce him... but MY MOTHER??? I could not even.... I still think about that. Poor girl. She was such a nice person and did not deserve that. [EDIT: They were having an affair. It wasn't just that the mom was infatuated and writing to him.]"

Wow. This man got a Smoothie King employee fired for being horribly racist.

Two Smoothie King stores in North Carolina have closed due to customers experiencing disgusting displays of racism from the franchise's employees.

A customer named Tony Choi recently posted on Facebook about his horrible experience. While there with his two young children, an employee thought it would be funny to write Choi's name as "Jackie Chan" on his receipt. Really?

Choi's Facebook post explains:

I was just in this Smoothie King with my kids. Instead of asking for my name. Zack H. thought it would be funny to put "Jackie Chan" as my name. Being Korean, I find this very insulting. But the 3 employees working there at the time couldn't stop laughing about it. I experience racism here and there and usually doesn't bother me. Today I left this store furious on the inside, trying to not let my young kids know what just happened.

As you can imagine, people who saw Choi's post were not pleased.

Eventually, Choi received an apology.

But it didn't end there. A spokesperson for Smoothie King toldYahoo Lifestyle that the employee responsible for the incident was fired, and that the location where it took place has been shut down.

In fact, two locations were shut down, because this was not the first time something like this had happened. According to Yahoo Lifestyle, an African American woman received a receipt that referred to her as the n-word while dining at a Smoothie King. The employee involved in that incident was also fired.

Smoothie King announced that both locations would be closed while they re-train their employees to make sure nothing like this happens again.

We're glad to see that actions are being taken, but damn, people, we have got to do better.

Congratulations to Tiffany Trump on her first-ever family vacation!

Among the most enigmatic figures in the ever-captivating Trump administration is Tiffany Trump, the "forgotten" daughter of Donald.

At 25 years old, Tiffany isn't a minor like her half-brother Barron, and she's not Extremely Online like her half-brothers Uday and Qusay Don Jr. and Eric, and she's not an official part of the administration (and subject of their father's incest fantasies) like Ivanka.

While her siblings were growing up in the gilded Manhattan tower with their name on it, Tiffany was raised by her mom in Los Angeles—which explains why most people hadn't heard of her until she stumped for her father in 2016.

Today, Tiffany tows the line between being a Regular Person in law school at Georgetown (as far as we know, Aunt Becky was NOT involved in the admissions process) and girlfriend of a billionaire who charges taxpayers $20,000 for security so she can go to Cannes.

Speaking of taxpayer-funded vacations, Tiffany got to join the American delegation on an official state visit to the United Kingdom, and she was thrilled to Instagram that she got to meet the Queen!

Ivanka also featured her on the 'gram.

People noticed how special an occasion it is for Tiffany to be publicly seen with her family.

It's clear that her father doesn't love her—he joked about having her aborted—but does she love her father?

On the one hand, she's studying law, the thing he hates most in the world.

On the other, she posts stuff like this on Instagram and got to meet the Queen.

Seems like she's on board with the Muslim Ban, then.

Brands are exploiting Pride month and the internet is clapping back. Sashay away.

Happy Pride month, y'all! For those of you who don't know, the month of June commemorates the Stonewall riots, which were started by a Black, trans woman named Marsha P. Johnson. Pride is a celebration that honors rebellion and revolution, but nowadays that message has gotten somewhat lost among the clutter of rainbow stamped t-shirts being sold by every major brand. The irony here is that these big companies are using this month as a way to make money off a community they have historically --and often presently -ignore, neglect and actively harm. Plus, many of these corporations will spend all of June selling pride merch, and then taking that money and using it to fund the GOP and other conservative organizations. In short, big corporations and brands are trying to hijack Gay Pride and it's total BS.

And you know who is *not* having it? Gay Twitter, b*tch, that's who. Here are some of our favorite tweets that call out corporations for trying to take advantage of Pride. Drag their asses!

This Instagram model's video of her panic attack is hard to watch. And absolutely necessary.

$

By Ally Hirschlag

When you scroll through Malaysian Instagram model Kharina K's photos, it appears she lives her best life most of the time.

After all, that's why she's paid the big bucks to endorse various products — brands want to be associated with a beautiful woman who seems to lead an awesome, charmed life. But there's a lot going on behind Kharina's smile and fun-loving demeanor, and not all of it is "rainbows and sunshine," as she puts it.

Two days ago, Kharina posted a video of herself in the midst of an intense panic attack, in fact, she called it one of "THE WORST panic attacks I’d ever had." If you've experienced a panic attack before, you know how terrifying it can be and how vulnerable it can make you feel. You can have symptoms that are akin to someone having a heart attack — sweating, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, pain in your chest, and an overwhelm sense of doom.

Considering all that, it's somewhat surprising that an Instagram model, who makes a living off of having a seemingly perfect life, would show herself in such an "imperfect" light. However, she did it for an important reason — to help dispel the stigma that still exists around mental illness in parts of the world, especially in her home country of Malaysia.

"You guys see most of my life as rainbows and sunshine (cuz no one likes to post the bad parts anyways) , however this is my reality," she writes in her Instagram post alongside the video. "Constantly having anxiety and being fine one minute, and like this the next. I try to post as much as I can about mental health to bring AWARENESS to it because it is REAL, and is not taught very well in Malaysia, however I have never been able to show you guys until now."

She goes on to say that she's incredibly lucky to have such a strong support system around her, but it's hard to have an illness that people rarely see manifest on the outside. It can leave those who live with it feeling incredible isolated and like they don't deserve care.

However, the more public figures who post candid things like this are not only reminding other sufferers that they're not alone, they're helping to keep what many seem like a difficult subject in the foreground of the global conversation. And the more a subject's talked about the faster the remaining stigma will dissipate into nothing.

As of this writing, Kharina's video on Twitter has over 3.82 million views and 67,000 shares. But she's far from the only one who's taken the courageous step to share their mental health journey.

This May, in honor of Mental Health Awareness month, hundreds of thousands of people have already created similar posts where they reveal what mental illness they struggle with daily. The posts, many of which you can find tagged #mentalhealthawareness and #mentalhealthand #fightintheopen, advocate for better awareness around these "hidden" illnesses so that people living with them can feel more supported and seen.

If you've got some time after reading this, whether or not you live with a mental illness, it would do you good to scroll through some of the posts, and remember, you never know what someone's grappling with behind their curated social media presence.

Jennifer Lawrence revealed a hilarious secret about Sophie Turner and her Juul.

$

Here's the thing: I would let Sophie Turner run me over with her car. Not only was she arguabley one of the only good parts of the final season of Game of Thrones, her social media presence is also so on point that the only way I can describe it is with a *chef's kiss.* And now that GoT is over, Turner has been making the rounds, doing live interviews to promote her most recent film, Dark Phoenix. To absolutely no one's surprise, Sophie is a dang delight in every interview, and almost always delivers a GIF-worthy line or moment during them. Like when she put her entire leg behind her head impromptu while on The Graham Norton Show, for example. Like I said, a. dang. delight.

Sophie's latest iconic moment comes from an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The entire cast joined Jimmy Kimmel to talk about The Dark Phoenix, and Jennifer Lawrence revealed a hilarious secret. During a particularly emotional scene (this is a spoiler that is in the interview, fair warning), Jennifer Lawrence claims that Sophie Turner "gave the performance of the year," that was "so raw" because Sophie was legitimately crying due to the fact that her dialect coach had just taken away her Juul. L-o-l. Sophie confirms the claim by saying, "Yes, my vape," and then explains to the crowd that giving and taking away her Juul is how one learns to act either happy or sad for the camera. Brilliant. Bloody brilliant.

Chrissy Teigen savagely takes down a mom-shamer who criticized her daughter Luna's hair.

There are two kinds of people in this world: Chrissy Teigen, and everyone else. The supermodel and chef is known for lots of things: witty Tweets, being mom to two adorable children, roasting her husband John Legend, cooking, being hilarious, and absolutely destroying any troll who dares to mess with her. RIP Laura Ingraham.

It's a huge mistake to come for Chrissy Teigen. It's an even HUGER mistake to come for her kids. Which is why a troll who posted a vicious comment about her daughter Luna's hair should win an award for idiocy.

The obscenely cute video was shared by E! News on Instagram where someone left this incredibly catty and unnecessary comment:

ummmm.....

"Finally someone Brushed her Hair" wrote the roll, whose choice to go after a toddler's hair AND shame her mom in one fell swoop remains unclear.

The bitchy comment did not escape Teigen's eagle eyes. She responded immediately with the sass that's helped elevate her to internet fame in the first place:

BURN IT ALL DOWN CHRISSY

No wonder Teigen is known for both witty comebacks AND cooking, because that's what we call a "flame-roasting."

Moms of Instagram gathered around to pay their respects in the comments:

In summation: don't mess with Chrissy Teigen, or moms in general. But most of us already knew that.

It doesn't matter how charismatic or symmetrical you are, all of us have a few tagged photos floating around the internet that reveal our weirdest and least attractive angles. All it takes is a quick shot from underneath your chin, a clumsy action shot, or a picture snapped mid rant to send us into the ultimate existential question: Is that what I really look like?!

Luckily, for both the sake of our confidence and our amusement, unflattering photos are not limited to humans. Even the cutest pup or fluffiest cat can star in a beautifully unflattering picture, and honestly a photo of a dog grimacing as if its coming down off ketamine is a blessing to us all.

In a recent Twitter thread, Baby_b0nes asked her followers to share the least flattering photos of their pets, and all of these constitute art.

Trump finally admitted to calling Meghan Markle 'nasty,' but she started it.

$
0
0

Donald Trump's state visit to the United Kingdom has been a very Trumpian combination of schmoozing with prominent Brits and insulting them.

Before touching down in London, Trump insulted its mayor Sadiq Khan, likely because his name is Sadiq Khan.

Trump also called the Duchess of Sussex "nasty," denied that he did, and posted a clip of him saying that in an attempt to prove that he didn't. In an interview with Piers Morgan—a true match made in hell—Trump did concede that he called her a nasty woman, but only because she criticized him. He is, however, very zen about it.

Back in 2016, then-Meghan Markle referred to Trump's misogynistic and divisive campaign as "misogynistic" and "divisive." She also said that she might move to Canada if he were elected president, but as we all know, ended up moving to England instead.

Trump insists that when he said "I didn't know she was nasty" about Meghan, he simply meant, "I didn't know she was nasty about me."

Pressed to clarify, Trump said "nasty" a whole bunch of times.

"She was nasty to me. And that’s okay for her to be nasty; it’s not good for me to be nasty to her and I wasn't," he insists, even though he called her nasty. If criticism is "nastiness," then yes, we are all nasty women.

Trump added, "You know what? She’s doing a good job, I hope she enjoys her life. … I think she’s very nice."

The president added that he and Prince Harry did not discuss Nastygate, and reports that Prince Harry was "noticeably hung back" at the Trumps' welcome reception are "fake news."

Asked if his encounter with the prince was awkward, Trump insists, "No, no, no, just the opposite. In fact, he spent a lot of time talking to Ivanka and talking to my family. I went up — he couldn’t have been nicer. Couldn’t have been nicer… I think he’s great."

The whole interview is wild—Trump broke royal protocol and revealed a detail about his conversation with Prince Charles, saying that Charles tried to convince him that climate change is an existential threat to humanity, but Trump believes that "weather goes both ways." Trump also deflected questions about gun violence and defending his policy of banning transgender people from the military.

Also, this happened.

Here's the whole interview if you can stomach it.

Dad refuses to pay daughter’s tuition after she cheated on BF. Is he an a**hole?

$
0
0

Cheating on your significant other isn't nice, but it also isn't unheard of. Sh*t happens, and we all make mistakes. Do those mistakes have consequences? Usually, yes. It kind of depends on whether or not you're a sitting president who seemingly can get away with literally anything or not. Anyway, the consequence of cheating is often that you lose the person you cheated on, or that your relationship becomes more strenuous for the time being. This is understandable, and the price one must pay. But, what if you cheat, and then your own father tries to punish you for it...by not paying for your tuition? What the f*ck am I talking about? Allow me to explain...

A man (South_Commercial) posted in the "Am I The Asshole (AITA)" page of reddit, asking if he was being a jerk for refusing to pay his daughter's tuition after she cheated on her long-term boyfriend. He was close with th boyfriend, so he felt strongly about her decision to be unfaithful.

my daughter had a bf for 3 years who i became really close with he was basically part of the family. My daughter is off to graduate school and i told her i'd pay for her university tuition but then i found out she's breaking up with her bf because she cheated on him with some rich rich saudi exchange student. He promised to take her to Riyadh Dubai for a week of luxurious vacationing but of course he left her. She went crying back to bf who left her.

Im honestly on the bf's side. My daughter fucked up and I've decided that I'm not going to pay for her tuition. Im heartbroken my daughter could do something so degenerate. My wife is really pissed at me for "siding with the bf" and not taking pity on her. Should i still pay for my daughter's tuition? my wife and daughter are upset that i haven't cut ties with the bf and i still occasionally hang out with him going fishing and hunting.

So, he's on the boyfriend's side. He's allowed to have an opinion. But does that make it okay for him to punish her in such a specific way?

MercurialPeculiarity didn't think so they. They argued:

you’re going to make your daughters life harder by possibly denying her the chance for further education because she cheated on a guy? She’s young and young people do dumb shit, but she’s got a lifetime ahead of her to learn from mistakes.

You can disapprove and be disappointed in what she did. But to punish her by refusing to pay for university for being unfaithful to a boyfriend (a reason that has no bearing on her ability to be a good student) is so disproportionate and you’re a massive asshole for that.

Then, the conversation dissolved into an argument over tuition and whether or not this guy's daughter was entitled to it. The father was doing her a favor, so he technically has the right to take it away. At least, that's how some people felt.

FusRoDoes said:

You realize most people get no money for their education from their parents right? It's a privilege, not a right. She's not entitled to it. It's his money

But others saw this as a cruel and unusual punishment, regardless of whether or not the tuition was a privilege. If the dad was taking it away because she was taking it for granted, failing out of school, or anything of that nature, that would be one thing. But he was holding a personal qualm -- on that had to do with her life, not his -- against her.

IAMA_Shark_AMA explained:

On the surface, I agree. No one is entitled to have their parents pay for their tuition. But I still believe if you can afford to lessen the burden, you should. My parents' biggest gift to me was making sure I didn't start adulthood thousands in debt, with the only stipulation being that I keep my grades up to the level they knew I was capable of. I intend to do the same for my children if I'm able to.

MercurialPeculiarity came back into the discussion with this:

Point is he already told her he was paying for it ... then changed his mind because of something she did that has nothing to do with him.

She wasn’t entitled to the money, but he’d already made the decision to give it before this. The punishment is extreme considering she is his daughter and he should love her unconditionally, regardless of her faults and poor choices. And this screams petty revenge.

wingedtacos summed it all up nicely and tied a lil' bow on top with this statement:

It's not that he won't pay, it's why. It is weird for him to make such a huge decision over something that is frankly none of his business. He is going back on his word and interjecting himself into her love life. If he didn't want to pay because he just thought she should pay herself it would be fine. But tonuse the money as a punishment because she cheated on her boyfriend. He is setting himself up for a lifetime of resentment from taking her boyfriends side and punishing her for it. She is still his daughter and chances are she would not have been with the guy forever. She isn't entitled to it but this isn't a good reason for changing his mind.

In the end, the father agreed that he was, indeed, the asshole. He wrote:

EDIT: thank you for your advice and i realize that i fucked up. I will amend my ways

Welp, looks like he got his answer!

Everyone is dragging Boston's 'straight pride' parade back into the Costco it came from.

Every year when LGBTQIA Pride Month rolls around, there are detractors who make false equivalences and ask the exhausting question: Why isn't there a Straight Pride parade?!

To most people, regardless of sexuality or political standing, it only takes a few minutes of critical thinking to figure out why Straight Pride isn't necessary. Straight people aren't brutalized, mocked and systemically discriminated against.

Roughly 95% of romantic representation in the media centers around straight people and the concept of being forced to "come out" as straight sounds more like an SNL sketch than a reality.

That being said, the city of Boston is begrudgingly gearing up to host a Straight Pride Parade at the end of summer after organizer Mark Sahady threatened a discrimination complaint against Boston for permission to fly their straight pride flag.

The inspiration for the Straight Pride Parade was launched by a small group of men known as "Super Happy Fun America," a group that aims to "celebrate the diverse history, culture, and contributions of the straight community."

On Facebook, organizer Sahady wrote: "If you would like to come as an individual, march as a group, or bring a float or vehicle, then get in touch. This is our chance to have a patriotic parade in Boston as we celebrate straight pride."

Needless to say, people have been dragging the hell out of the concept of a Straight Pride parade, as they well should.

You know you're messing up when Smash Mouth gets involved.

Truly, all of the jokes are here to make and all of them are well deserved.

All of the jokes roasting the Straight Pride parade may provide the first time these men have faced any sort of personal and emotional obstacles, so their self-professed status as marginalized is manifesting its own "struggle."

As of now, the Straight Pride Parade is potentially slated for August 31st, but I have no doubt in my mind the entire internet will be all ears for updates.

5 bubbly waters that are (NOT) La Croix and will make you feel fancy AF this summer

Let’s face it: it’s the summertime, and you want something light and refreshing without all the calories. You might find yourself looking for a La Croix, but like freaking about Mercury being in retrograde, it feels kind of…over. Played out. With the head of La Croix facing misconduct claims, and concern about what’s really in those “natural flavors,” it’s time to explore seltzers that aren’t La Croix.

Spindrift is a fan-fave because they use a little real juice in their seltzer. It’s still almost sugar and calorie free, but for those who want their seltzer to have a little bite, almost like juice or soda, it’s a great option.

Perrier is what people drink to feel fancy AF. It must be that French name, or that curvy plastic bottle that feels so chic. But when you get down to it, Perrier just feels hydrating and refreshing. Maybe you’ll feel classier when you drink it, too!

Polar Seltzer has even more flavor stunts than La Croix. Say bye bye, Pamplemousse, and hello Unicorn Kisses and Minotaur Mayhem! Say what? In addition to these limited-edition flavors, I’ve found that Polar Seltzer does just taste punchier than La Croix. And flavors like Blueberry Lemonade have ~summer vibes~ written all over them.

Recess has CBD and adaptogens in it, which in theory, help you feel less stressed out. While your mileage may vary when trying out CBD, one thing is clear: the flavors, like pomegranate hibiscus, always taste bright and refreshing.

Bubly is relatively new to the seltzer game. You may have seen the pastel colored cans, with a font that looks like the logo is winking at you. While I haven’t found the flavors to be particularly interesting or even very strong, if you’re trying to kick La Croix, the fact that Bubly is owned by Pepsi ensures that it’s ubiquitous across many grocery stores and corner stores.

Did you know that sometimes when you feel tired and like you need caffeine, you’re just dehydrated? Hydration leads to clearer skin, and a healthier body. So whether you keep sipping on that can that looks like a Nineties screensaver or stop buying La Croix altogether, drinking some form of water will always be a great addition to your day.

The 13 most bonkers moments from the Trumps' taxpayer-funded vacation/state visit to the UK.

Dreams really do come true: Donald Trump finally got to be celebrated with a banquet at Buckingham Palace, the inspiration for his Trump Tower bathroom, and he brought his adult children with no business being part of a diplomatic delegation to join the fun!

Tiffany Trump's first-ever family vacation seemed like an absolute blast, if you ignore the fact that Trump was denied a photo-op with Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry, picked a fight with Bette Midler for some reason, and was greeted with massive jeers on the streets of London.

Things were bonkers, both on and off Twitter.

1. Donald Trump kicked the trip off by calling London mayor Sadiq Khan ("Kahn") a "stone cold loser," as every honored guest does.

U mad?

2. The d*ck saw a giant penis on his way down, mowed by climate change activists.

3. Jared and Ivanka's creepiness waiting for Daddy at Buckingham Palace inspired Jordan Peele's next movie.

4. Trump and Queen Elizabeth II redid the Revolutionary War with their thumbs.

5. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, winked at her protection officers, breaking the fourth wall like Tim from the British Office.

Or was she pulling a Fleabag?

6. Ivanka violated palace protocol and took a picture in front of a "No Photography" sign, while the "kids" were dressed up like the bridal party at a plantation wedding.

Buckingham Palace takes their rules very seriously...is this why she's headed to The Hague?

7. Trump wore this tuxedo and looked even more like a cartoon villain than usual.

8. The president appeared to have drifted off during the Queen's speech.

This makes George H.W. Bush vomiting on the Japanese Prime Minister's crotch look diplomatic.

9. Ivanka got viciously booed on the street, and Fox News desperately tried to spin it.

10. Prime Minister Theresa May had to explain to Trump what NHS stands for (it's National Health Service), mid-press conference.

The president appeared to imply that American insurance companies privatizing the UK's single-payer healthcare system was "on the table" for a post-Brexit trade deal, having just learned what it was.

In his interview with Piers Morgan, Trump did a total 180, saying, "I don’t see [the NHS] being on the table. Somebody asked me a question today and I say everything is up for negotiation, because everything is. But that’s something I would not see as part of trade. That’s not trade."

11. Trump prepared for the ceremony honoring the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings by tweeting an attack on Bette Midler.

Does Trump think that the D in "D-Day" stands for Dolly?

The "washed-up psycho" tweeted the D-Day message the president should have, and then an expression of gratitude for her fans.

12. Trump broke royal protocol and revealed what he discussed in his private conversations with Prince Charles: Climate change. Despite the future King of England telling him that climate change is an existential threat to all life on earth, Trump is not convinced, or even interested.

"God Save The Queen" is Trump's climate change plan.

13. He insisted that the 75,000 protesters and one giant baby balloon on the streets of London were actually celebrating and supporting him.

"The c-word is actually a compliment, believe me. Everybody comes from their mother's c*nt."

Is he delusional, in denial, or both?

15 marriage counselors share the most common couples mistakes. Looks like 'repair attempts' are key.

Getting married, or being in any kind of long-term relationship requires a lot of humility, patience and intentional change in order to keep the flames alive while providing each other with practical support. Even the most loving of couples who make complete sense on paper are bound to face road blocks during the course of a partnership.

One of the healthiest ways to navigate the struggles of a relationship is by consulting with a counselor who can give an outside, professional perspective on your misunderstandings. Obviously, friends can be a great source of support, but when it comes to healing relationship problems, friends are often too biased or close to the situation to give clear advice.

In a recent Reddit thread, marriage counselors shared the most common mistakes couples make, and it's a great source of insight for us all.

1. fairiefire broke down the essentials.

"Expecting one person to be everything for them. You need friends, coworkers, a support system, and hobbies. Keeping secrets or lies.

Failure to communicate effectively - this can be taught."

2. mrmrmrj learned a few key tips from their sessions.

"I went to 5 sessions with my wife during a tough period. The best things we learned from that is

  1. never lash the other with past misbehaviors when trying to resolve a current issue. We have been married 17 years so there is limitless crap we can pull out of our history together to highlight past wrongs and that just derails what could be a quick resolution."

  2. when one half says "I am not happy about X", do not respond with "ok but I am unhappy with Y." Fix X. Get settled. Then bring up Y if you still need to.

3. cplkm says it's all about listening.

"Not listening, most people listen to respond and don't listen to hear. This is what I spend the most time teaching couples how to do!"

4. rkauld27 knows that being present is key.

"Be present. You dont have to prove you're listening if in fact you are listening. Dont repeat yourself its condescending. Avoid all of the small details, (they are not necessary get to the point.) Dont listen to reply listen to understand. Set your ego aside. We are all human, thoughts will come into your head. Let them flow through just as easy. It is difficult work to really listen and communicate well. I listen to podcasts on YouTube. Just search what your after. "Art of communicating" " how to listen better to your partner " "being present in conversation" hope this helps"

5. natgoeshome has a few tricks up their sleeves.

"Keeping score. A partnership is a team, not a competition. Whether a person keeps score of everything they have done, or everything their partner has done, it is a death knell for the relationship. This is one of the most common causes of resentment in a relationship, and you see it often when people use absolute terms to describe themselves or their partners (I.e: I always..., she never...). Remembering that each person has his/her own needs, abilities, skills, and boundaries is essential to a healthy couple."

"Expecting that because your significant other knows you better than others and is around you most, that they are aware of all of your thoughts and feelings. Your partner is not psychic, and no matter how often they are around you or how well they know you, they cannot pick up on every nuance to determine how you are feeling and how they should respond. That is called emotional babysitting, and it cascades into a host of problems and unnecessary hurt."

6. maxpowerphd has a list of bullet points.

"I have provided couples counseling at different points in my career. Some of the common mistakes I will often see are:

  1. Expecting partners to be able to read their mind and anticipate needs and wants"

  2. Goes with the first one, lack of communication/comfort with discussing difficult topics. Or one partner being uncomfortable with discussion a topic which leaves both partners feeling frustrated or dissatisfied

  3. Blaming their partner for all issues in the relationship and not taking ownership of their own role in dysfunction/issues

  4. Not expressing gratitude towards your partner on a regular basis. Experiences and expressions of gratitude can have a really positive effect on psychological well being as well as relational strength.

  5. "Not giving intimacy in their relationship enough attention. This includes but is not limited to sex. Many relationships start with the "hot and heavy" phase where intimacy can come naturally. As this phase diminishes many couples do not spend the time and energy to consider how to maintain a healthy level of intimacy now that it doesn't just come naturally."

"I hadn't expected such a big response to my comment and appreciate the sharing and questions people have made. Without knowing and working with a person/couple it is difficult and potentially inappropriate for me to try to give direct/specific suggestions. I don't want to make a suggestion and then not be available to help you put those ideas into action as that would be irresponsible on my part. I would encourage you to communicate with your partner and seek out a professional (either individually or as a couple) that can help you more directly make efforts to improve your relationship."

"Also, please keep in mind that every relationship is a partnership. Very rarely have I seen these type of issues in relationships be all the fault of just one person. For instance, it's not "only women" that engage in the mind reading mistake despite the stereotypes that people want to perpetuate. This mistake occurs regardless of gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, etc. These issues are usually dynamic and complicated in nature and are a result of cognitive/emotional/behavioral/interpersonal patterns of each partner interacting with each other."

"If you feel these issues are all your partners fault I would encourage maybe trying out individual counseling to talk about how you feel and learn more about how your cognitive/emotional/behavioral/interpersonal patterns may influence your experience in your relationship."

"EDIT 2: Also, express gratitude! Not just in your relationship, but in your life! It can have such a positive impact on how someone experiences their day. It doesn't have to be anything big either, be grateful that your coffee was good or traffic was lighter than normal or how your partner gives the best hugs or it's a nice day outside, etc. Find something you are grateful for and take time to appreciate it!"

7. Mfcramps knows that intimacy is more than sex.

"My husband and I deal with a lot of stress and illness. We're frequently not up for sex. However, we maintain the intimacy through finding excuses to touch each other."

"I frequently pause by his desk at home to stroke his shoulder gently and kiss his cheek. He slips into my office to do the same. If we pass each other in the kitchen, we frequently stop to hug and kiss. While shopping, we frequently hold hands. Easily a half dozen times a day, we're communicating through touch that we enjoy each other. We also text each other sweet nothings at work, and it's not unusual for us to snuggle at bedtime.

Intimacy is so much more than sex."

8. findingmytune327 has compiled some helpful research.

"Currently a student in a Clinical Psychology Doctorate Program, focusing in Marriage and Family."

"If you aren't already familiar with it, I would recommend taking a look at John Gottman's work on romantic relationships. He is one of the best known researchers on this topic. Perhaps his most famous work is The Four Horsemen - in a 30 minute interview, Gottman was able to accurately predict which couples would divorce based on their interactions with each other, particularly when those interactions included:"

"Criticism

  1. Contempt

  2. Defensiveness

  3. Stonewalling"

"Research from the Gottman institute has expanded on this to provide a pretty comprehensive list of factors that lead to couple conflict and divorce. Gottman also addresses solutions to these issues, which primarily exist within his form of couples therapy."

"Take this all with a grain of salt. This is one perspective on relationships, but it tends to be a pretty robust and well-researched one (and it happens to be the one I'm the most familiar with)."

"My personal understanding on the issue is that problems arise from a lack of humility and the challenge of getting out of deeply engrained patterns/cycles of conflict (which generally requires both partners to accept fault and extend grace)."

9. WhyAreYouUpsideDown has seen how defensiveness can destroy a relationship.

"Therapist here, have served couples.

Number one problem I see is overactive threat response creating anger and rigidity. People don’t stop to turn down their defense mode, and lose sight of love because all their energy is going towards being right or controlling the outcome. Of course that control comes from a place of fear, but fear and vulnerability feels too dangerous, so it typically gets expressed as anger, frustration, or rigidity."

"Surrender to not having control, accept what’s in front of you, and cultivate compassion. Please. Because y’all rigid couples who just can’t prioritize empathizing with each other over your fear response are driving me nuts! :)"

"Edit: just adding a smiley face, and that this is the most COMMON case I see, not the only. There are lots of folks who won’t fit this pattern.

10. WholeMilkStandard knows that sex and money are the ultimate deal breakers (or makers.)

"Divorce lawyer here. Talk. About. Money. Talk. About. Sex."

"If you're marrying someone with a shitty credit score, you should know how and why they ended up with it, lest you find yourself in their shoes very quickly. A credit score can cost thousands and take Y E A R S to rebuild. Know if they have any tax liens or liability. Are they paying child support and do they have any kind of garnishment? Who is going to be responsible for managing the finances? How many credit cards does the other person have and what are their balances? I've seen money kill a lot of marriages."

"Another one a lot of people don't think of is actually talking about sex, not just having it. Do you enjoy the sex you have? Would you like to have more of it? Less? Would you like to se it change? Do you or the other person have any weird kinks? Just have the talk. Different sexual wavelengths can be difficult to reconcile."

11. KaptainKompost broke down what repair attempts are.

"Wife has degree in marriage and family counseling. One of the bigger factors in a successful marriage are couples responding to “repair attempts” during arguments/conflict. Rescue attempts are often little jokes or olive branches to help overcome issues and arguments."

"Edit: people keep asking for an example. My wife didn’t buy movie tickets in advance for date night this last Sunday and it was sold out. It sucked! She laughed and sheepishly said, “we’ll, at least we get to spend more time together staring longingly into each other’s eyes!” That was her rescue attempt. It works two ways though, I also have to respond positively to it... which I did. We did a lot of staring longingly into each other’s eyes last Sunday."

"Edit 2: I thanked my wife for the fake internet points and told her why. Her response, “that’s funny because you’re not even responsive to rescue attempts, idiot!” I can’t stop laughing.

Edit 3: I’m a putz and my wife is the counselor. They’re called repair attempts not rescue attempts."

12. thudly knows you gotta stay on the same team.

"As soon as couple stops being on the same team, fighting all the bullshit of life together, things fall apart. Get on the same team. Get behind each other's goals. If you're not on the same team, you're just going to wind up annoying the fuck out of each other. All that bullshit of life is going to be beating you down and your life partner is just going to be part of it instead of a refuge."

13. McCl3lland says defensiveness is the worst.

"When your significant other brings something to your attention, that they need/want, don't react harshly if it's something they've refused to bring up sooner. Getting loud or defensive "Why didn't you bring this up sooner!" will make them shy away from bringing things up again due to negative reinforcement/backlash."

"This is especially true if they've been victims of any kind of abusive relationships.

Source: Literally killed my marriage because I was an idiot and didn't respond in an open, non-positive way."

14. molten_dragon has seen how planning a wedding for a wedding's sake can be a downfall.

"Getting married because they wanted a wedding, not because they wanted to be married."

15. Negromancers says its all about thinking of yourself as a loving unit (without enmeshment).

"One of the most toxic things I have found in doing marriage counseling is when couples think of themselves as individuals who happen to be together and not as a couple. (Not that I’m advocating enmeshment.) That’s not really marriage. That’s having a roommate, or perhaps less than that even."

"Marriage is a union of two people. That’s what the unity candle and sand and knots are all about. There is a bringing together of two lives that is inseparable."

"If either member still conceptualizes themself as a solely autonomous individual whose actions and dispositions impact only themselves, things will go bad eventually."

"They go bad because it results in a person caring more for themselves than their spouse. This is seen where couples spend money behind each other’s backs because “it’s my money, why does it matter?” When couples keep secrets from each other, which inevitably results in pain. This is seen when couples don’t stop to consider their spouse’s thoughts, feelings, desires, dreams, abilities, and strengths alongside their weaknesses."

"The remedy to this is behaving as a unit in small ways and in large. If you’re getting something from the fridge, see if your spouse wants something. It even helps in arguments; no longer is it spouse against spouse but it’s the married couple against the issue causing stress to the unit."

"When one person considers a course of action, their thoughts ought to be about how it impacts the unit. Tl;dr “and the two shall become one flesh so they are no longer two but one.”

Ivanka Trump tweets about being on her way to 'the Hague.' Criminally dumb mistake.

When your family is mired in conflict and criminal-adjacent, with an extremely high likelihood of having committed crimes yourselves, it's probably a bad idea to tweet, period. It's an even worse idea to tweet that you are "en route to The Hague." The Hague, if you didn't know, is a city in the Netherlands known for being home to the International Criminal Court, where people go to face trial for committing genocide, war crimes and other crimes against humanity. I didn't know (I blame the U.S. education system and my very short attention span!), and it seems like Ivanka Trump didn't know, either. Because if she did, why on Earth would she tweet this??????

IDK, Trump family, but have you ever considered using some of your millions in blood money to hire a social media person???? Or, like, get a friend to tell you when your tweets are a bad idea (most of the time)???

You are making it far too easy on the rest of us who live to drag you. I mean, give us a challenge, for once!!! These jokes practically wrote themselves:

Fingers crossed Ivanka Trump actually IS en route to The Hague to serve time for crimes she is no doubt complicit in—but she has no idea and is about to experience the worst surprise party ever. But far more likely the only consequences she'll face today, or any other day, is a dragging on Twitter, "The Hague" of internet media platforms. It's literally all we have.

Racist teacher fired for tweets she thought were DMs to Trump.

$

A high school English teacher in San Antonio, Texas was fired for being racist, after her racism was revealed because of her very old lady understanding of technology.

Georgia Clark thought she was sliding into President Trump's DMs when she begged him to dispatch the modern-day Gestapo to "remove the illegals from Fort Worth." Clark tweeted at @realDonaldTrump assuming that they were private messages, when the racist pleas were, in fact, public tweets.

The face of somebody who knows how Twitter works.

"Anything you can do to remove the illegals from Fort Worth would be greatly appreciated," Clark tweeted at the president, using the dehumanizing term for undocumented immigrants.

"Carter-Riverside High School has been taken over by them. Drug dealers are on our campus and nothing was done to them when the drug dogs found the evidence," she insisted.

It's very clear from her tweets that Ms. Clark hates her students. She tweeted on May 17th that she had contacted "the feds" directly, and accused the campus police of conspiring with a "Hispanic assistant" to... keep children safe, I assume.

In another tweet, Clark "sent the president" her cell phone number, hoping that somebody from the White House would call.

On Tuesday, the Fort Worth Independent School District voted unanimously to remove her from her role of educating children, many of them Latino. According to city data, Fort Worth's population is a third Hispanic.

Members of the community attended the school board meeting to advocate for Clark's removal, much like she advocated for theirs.

The New York Times reports that according to the school board's review, Clark was disciplined in 2013 "after referring to a group of students as 'little Mexico' and one student as 'white bread.'"

The district superintendent sent a note to parents on May 29th, writing, "Let me reiterate our commitment that every child in the district is welcome and is to be treated with dignity and respect."

While ever child should be treated with dignity and respect, join us in a tasteful round of pointing and laughing at Clark and yelling "HAHAHAHA SUCK IT, LADY!"
