World's luckiest unlucky guy recovers the wedding ring he lost in the depths of the ocean.
A New Jersey man says he lost his wedding ring while fishing off the coast—and then found it days later using GPS tracking. People magazine reported the story, which, if true, was a nearly miraculous occurrence considering that it's really just a net draw, luck-wise. Also, if viral news has taught the world anything, it's that rings don't stay lost in the ocean.
Jay Bradford, 27, was fishing off the coast of Long Branch, NJ, on December 12 when his "hand hit the bow rail, and the ring came up off my knuckle," he told People. "The ring slid off, hit the tow rail and went into the water."
His new wife, Meagan Bradford, wasn't too happy about this. "He texted me and said his day was going wrong. I said, 'Don't worry you will find the fish,'" Meagan Bradford said. "He texted me back, 'It's not the fishing, I lost my ring in the water.' I nearly threw up."
Luckily, Bradford had gone fishing for blackfish, which tend to be found in solid formations on the sea floor such as reefs, wrecks, rocks, and piers. Four days later, Bradford used GPS tracking to return to the spot where he lost the ring. He found the band in 10 minutes—it was resting against a rock.

Not surprisingly, Neil Patrick Harris's adorable family killed it at Christmas.
It has previously been established and repeatedly reconfirmed that Neil Patrick Harris has a certifiably adorable family. Expectations for cuteness were high after such strong showings at Thanksgiving and the breakfast table, but the NPHs didn't disappoint when it came to Christmas.
Their social media holiday explosion was teased last week with a video of five-year-old twins Harper and Gideon examining their wrapped presents. If you don't think this is cute, then you might have Scrooge issues.
Next, on Christmas Eve, came a perfectly rehearsed family greeting, seemingly taken in the back of an Uber. So Hollywood. (But remember to buckle up for safety, everybody.)
Then there was a Mario Batali gourmet meal that was delicious, photogenic, and proved that the twins have very sophisticated palates for five-year-olds. But of course they do.

A mom knitted a stripped shawl for her 21-year-old daughter—but it's not just a striped scarf. Viewed from the right angle, the scarf has a special message for Game of Thrones fans: "Winter is coming." You'd imagine that the Stark words (and direwolf!) are hidden in case the scarf wearer happens to find herself in the company of any Lannisters (or the freakin' Night's Watch).
The illusion is achieved via something called "illusion knitting" or "shadow knitting," HelloGiggles reported. "The cool thing about [this kind of knitting] is that the ridges created by a specific pattern of these two stitches allows the design to be visible only from a certain angle when the ridges allow only some of the stitches to be seen,” said 61-year-old Penny Bartolomei, who created the amazing scarf. “The knitting itself wasn’t difficult, but I really had to pay attention and concentrate on the stitch count.”

The "telling a story in a million tweets" genre has really taken off since the Zola series came to light, because it's the perfect way to keep people tuning in and retweeting you. A guy named Xavier who tweets under the handle @XLNB told a long story in this style way back in November, which he says was related to him by a female friend. It recently blew up and started getting circulated on Facebook as well. It's hard to say if the story is true, but it's obvious why it's popular: It touches on romance, cheating, nudity, salacious sex, and the hope that one day, someone will do you right. Enjoy!

Miranda Lambert—Blake Shelton's ex-wife—just followed Shelton's current girlfriend, singer Gwen Stefani, on Twitter, Cosmopolitan reports. You know how sometimes you stalk your ex's new girlfriend's social media accounts and you accidentally click "like" or "follow" on a photo? Surely that couldn't be what happened here.
Lambert and Shelton are both country singers, so magnanimous gestures toward their exes seem out of character—this is a woman who once sang "Leave it to me to be holdin’ the matches / When the fire trucks show up and there’s nobody else to blame." Of course, you can also see the Twitter follow as a vaguely sinister threat, or a backdoor way to let her ex know that she's moved on. Either way, Stefani hasn't followed back.

German photographer Christian Vieler has been gaining acclaim recently for his series of dog photos. While it's pretty easy to snap an adorable pic of your puppy for your own personal Instagram, Vieler's have a twist. His pictures capture the exact moment a dog attempts to catch an airborne treat. In the photo series, the pups' expressions range from panic to surprise to elation to sadness to boredom; basically, all of the emotions you feel when someone brings free doughnuts to the office.

Teacher Natalie Moy posted a video of her boyfriend, NYC firefighter Lt. David Royael, proposing to her in class before the Christmas break. It's not the first time a teacher has received a proposal in front of a class, but it's much classier than proposing at the drive-thru of McDonald's, at least. Whether or not her students understand it was a marriage proposal is unclear. What is clear is that they know it involves gross adult romance and is worthy of awed squeals and commotion:

Russell Crowe went on a Twitter rant to Virgin Airlines for the most entitled reason.
Russell Crowe is having a rough day. Apparently, while attempting to fly with his family on Virgin Australia, he discovered that he was unable to bring hoverboards on the plane. He took to Twitter to express his outrage and renounce Virgin forever! Of course, if Crowe ever hopes to travel with Segways, he'll have to charter his own plane with a very daring pilot, because the hoverboards contain lithium batteries which are considered high risk for exploding.
Whoever runs the Virgin Australia account responded in a very chill manner to the baseless accusation that they don't warn people about the no-explosives rule for their planes.
But Crowe would not back down:

Jennifer Lawrence speaks the truth about New Year's Eve.
Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar-winning actress and America's Realest, says she hates New Year's Eve because it's disappointing and depressing. This is true and also the bravest thing Lawrence has said since that essay where she talked about the Hollywood pay gap.
"I really hate it," Lawrence said on BBC's The Graham Norton Show, according to E! Online. "I've never had a good one. Everyone's chasing a good time and it's always a disappointment."
"I plan on doing nothing and then if something lands in my lap..." she continued. "But I always end up drunk and disappointed."

A transgender couple wanted to surprise the world with how they're having their baby.
Diane Rodriguez and Fernando Machado are a couple in Ecuador who recently announced their pregnancy on Twitter. That in itself isn't unusual, but Diane started out life with the name Luis, while Fernando was given the name Maria: They're both transgender. Here's their tweet, in which Rodriguez writes,"Trying to hear the heartbeat of our baby."
Both Rodriguez and Machado have been on hormone therapy, but neither one has undergone gender-reassignment surgery. So even though Machado identifies as a man, he is currently carrying their child.
Rodriguez is one of the most prominent LGBT activists in Ecuador, and she told the Associated Press that part of the reason she and her partner decided to do things the old-fashioned way is to shed light on misunderstandings about the trans community perpetuated by the church. She said:
We're trying to break the myths about transsexuality...The church is always criticizing gays and homosexuals for adopting children, so it would be a contradiction to criticize us for giving birth naturally.
Machado and Rodriguez are believed to be the first transgender couple in Ecuador to have a baby together, but this certainly isn't the first time a transgender man has gotten pregnant.

People are freaking out trying to decide how a dog would wear pants.
Remember all the friends you lost over The Dress controversy? Well, now there is an even more divisive argument sweeping the Internet: how should dogs be wearing pants? Much like #TheDress the answer is so obvious (white and gold), but that doesn't stop people from being senseless and wrong about everything in the world. Maxim editor Jared Keller posted this tweet on Monday night, which blew up on social media and sparked the whole debate:
