Teen's camping selfie goes viral after she was photobombed by a 'ghost.'

Every so often a story comes along that challenges my stubborn refusal to believe in ghosts. Like this one: a woman named Jessica Ogletree posted a selfie on Facebook taken by her 13-year-old daughter. At first glance, it appears a pretty normal photo, featuring the teen and two men in the background—a white guy facing away, and a black guy facing the camera.

But here's where things get creepy. Because, according to the mom, there were only two people in this photo when it was taken:

FB FRIENDS CHECK THIS OUT! This picture was taken by my 13 year old daughter earlier today at Paradise (the fishing...

She wrote:

FB FRIENDS CHECK THIS OUT! This picture was taken by my 13 year old daughter earlier today at Paradise (the fishing place) in Tifton, Ga. Notice my son Kolton in the background and then notice the gentleman standing to his right!!! Ya'll this gentleman was NOT with them today and there was no one else at these back ponds where they were fishing! The only people there today were Haley, Kolton, and their grandparents Dennis and Vera Baldree. Haley was going back through her pictures and saw this and needless to say freaked out and called me lol! I personally think it's pretty cool because today is Kolton's birthday and he caught the biggest fish he's ever caught! It looks like the man is happy for him!
*Please feel free to share

Basically, Ogletree's assessment is that the black guy is a ghost, but a friendly, supportive one. And I mean, he does look pretty nice. For a ghost.

The post has gone viral, with lots of people weighing in in the comments. Most seem to believe the photobomber is definitely a ghost, no doubt about it.

One commenter even believes they knew the ghost very well. They wrote:

Guardian Angel. My father has been dead for 28 years, and it would not surprise me if he showed up on a picture like this. He loved to fish! And he's spirit is probably out on a lake somewhere!

IN CONCLUSION: Ghosts are real. And friendly! And they like fishing! How do I get one?

Raven deserves better than Nick from 'The Bachelor.' That is why I'm raising money to buy her a Hitachi.

Update 3/1/17, 10:52am: Well folks, it looks like Go Fund Me has deleted my campaign. I feel like I made it to hometowns but did not receive a rose in the final ceremony before the season finale. So close, yet so far away.

I had a good run, met my fundraising goal, and just as I was reaching out acquire Raven's mailing address, the website deleted my campaign page. Although I am disappointed, I am glad that so many people agreed that healthy masturbation was a positive thing. Also shout out to Tara, my lone donor, who almost made this dream a reality.

Long live the female orgasm!!

Raven is one of two remaining ladies competing for the affections of Nick Viall, a professional Bachelor contestant who is hot but otherwise pretty boring (okay, technically three ladies, but we all know Rachel doesn't count) on ABC's The Bachelor this season. Raven, who caught Nick's attention with her laid back attitude and country charm, dropped a bomb on The Bachelor on Monday that people somehow found harder to believe than an adult woman having a nanny.

Who knew my icey heart could melt so easily ❄️ #thebachelor

A post shared by ravennicolegates (@ravennicolegates) on

Spoilers ahead.

Besides the surprise of the show's villain Corinne Olympios being sent home Monday, Raven shocked audiences (and Nick) when she revealed that age 25, she has never had an orgasm. Raven was open with her sexual history, revealing that she has only had sex with one person, and added that her orgasm-less sex life is "really taboo to discuss, but it's really important." For the record, I agree, and I applaud Raven for being open about her past with Nick and also all of America. Also, sorry Raven blew up your spot, Raven's ex boyfriend. Awkward.

However, I don't think that Raven should depend on Nick to provide her with her first orgasm, mostly because I don't believe that Nick can provide her with her first orgasm. Hear me out here. First of all, both parties are nervous. There is the added pressure of the show, the cameras, etc. Also, if Raven has never had an orgasm before, she doesn't know what it takes for her to orgasm. And, not to be shady, but if Nick was giving mind-blowing orgasms all along, would he really be on The Bachelor for a fourth time? Come on.

Orange you glad I got a rose? Me too! ❤️🌹 #bestdateever #TheBachelor

A post shared by ravennicolegates (@ravennicolegates) on

After some consideration, I realized that Raven should not be thinking about going to pound town with Nick. She would be focusing on parting the pink sea with herself.

Therefore I decided to start a Go Fund Me page to buy Raven a Hitachi. A Hitachi, a vibrating wand that people have pretended to use on their sore muscles for decades, would be the ideal starter-vibrator for the reality show contestant. It is sturdy, reliable, and has the seal of approval of hundreds if not thousands of orgasm-havers world wide. You may be thinking, "this has to be some kind of joke." Well, I just spend several hours watching 30 gorgeous women give up a chunk of their lives to try to impress a former software salesman on national television, so you tell me what the joke is here.

Here is why I think Raven deserves to be gifted a Hitachi.

Raven, don't rely on some dude to give you your first orgasm. Knowing what you like and what makes you cum will make your future sexual experiences with men (or women, I don't know your life) more positive. You first have to understand what you like and want in bed before you can expect others to do it for you. So, to put it bluntly, you need to masturbate, Raven. Flick the bean. Low-five yourself. Sing Slip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah.
A lot. DIY, trial and error style. Turn on the Magic Mike XXL Trailer and do what you gotta do, girl.

And good news— apparently someone out there cares about orgasms as much as I do because we have raised our (very modest) fundraising goal of $60! This will cover the price of the Hitachi plus shipping.

I have reached out to Raven via social media about sending the Hitachi, but if she does not consent to receiving the gift, I will donate the funds to Planned Parenthood. At time of publication, Raven has yet to respond.

Happy fingerlifting, y'all!

Amazon broke the internet. Here are the funniest reactions from people who got burned.

On Tuesday afternoon, a massive outage hit Amazon Web Service's S3 data storage system, a cloud-computing service run by the tech giant Amazon. The details of the error are very technical, so here's a summary: the internet done exploded. A huge number of websites, which were revealed to be totally dependent on AWS for their data storage, either went totally offline or were hobbled until late at night. Among the popular sites that were affected were Slack, Trello, Quora, Medium, and Gizmodo Media Group.

Meanwhile, techies who normally stay relegated to their own nerdy corner of the internet suddenly had the attention of the entire media. They took advantage by posting hilariously bitter and specific tweets needling the Amazon overlords. Here are the best ones we could find.

Happy Mardi Gras to someone who never needs an excuse to drink on a Tuesday.

Donald Trump finally explains why he is ditching the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

In an interview with Fox and Friends that aired today, Tweeter-in-Chief Donald Trump was asked about why he won't be attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner this year. In typical Trump-ian fashion, he gave a very confusing, not-true, non-answer.

"I just thought in light of the fact of fake news and all of the other things we’re talking about now, I thought it would be inappropriate that I went," he said, according to Us Weekly.

Of course, that doesn't make any sense. But making sense is not exactly the President's specialty.

"I just thought it would be better if I didn’t do the dinner," he continued. "It doesn’t mean I’m not going to do it next year, but I just thought it would be better if I didn’t do it."

The White House correspondents dinner is an annual event where journalists and other media professionals gather in their best evening wear to eat and drink and watch a comedian make fun of the president and the president make fun of the media and himself. Basically, everything Trump hates the most (the media, comedians making fun of him) all together in one room.

So on Saturday, when Trump tweeted that he would be missing the event, with no explanation...

It was not exactly a surprise.

A lot of people did take the opportunity to call him a chicken though.

I think this lady said it best:

Cluck cluck.

Emma Watson explains the heartbreaking reason she won't take selfies with fans.

At the age of 26, Harry Potter/Beauty and the Beast star Emma Watson is famous in a way most of us can't even fathom. No matter where she goes or what she does, obsessive fans and judgmental trolls will find her and dissect every minuscule detail of her life. It's taken her years to figure out a lifestyle that enables her to maintain even a semblance of privacy, but it involves compromises. And as she explained in a new interview with Vanity Fair, one of those compromises is a complete ban on taking selfies with fans.

For me, it’s the difference between being able to have a life and not. If someone takes a photograph of me and posts it, within two seconds they’ve created a marker of exactly where I am within 10 meters. They can see what I’m wearing and who I’m with. I just can’t give that tracking data.

Of course, Watson doesn't enjoy saying no. For many fans, meeting her is a dream come true. Any negative impression she gives would likely permanently tarnish their opinion of her. As a consolation, she often engages fans in conversation, hoping a genuine moment of connection will suffice in place of a photo they can share on Instagram.

I’ll say, "I will sit here and answer every single Harry Potter fandom question you have but I just can’t do a picture"—and much of the time people don’t bother.

But because she's a very busy woman (in addition to acting, she's a U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador), she can't always strike up a chat with everyone who corners her in public. She has a system for prioritizing those requests.

I have to carefully pick and choose my moment to interact. When am I a celebrity sighting versus when am I going to make someone’s freakin’ week? Children I don’t say no to, for example.

You might be thinking, "She's so stuck up! She can't possibly have that much to worry about." (If you are, you may be one of the aforementioned trolls.) As she explained, the Harry Potter"phenomenon" has become so powerful, she doesn't dare take any chances with it.

I have met fans that have my face tattooed on their body. I’ve met people who used the Harry Potter books to get through cancer. I don’t know how to explain it, but the Harry Potter phenomenon steps into a different zone. It crosses into obsession. A big part of me coming to terms with it was accepting that this is not your average circumstances.

And her concerns with security are no joke. As the interview explains, she's been "stalked" by the press many times. Photographers have taken bets on who can get a photo up her skirt. Her house even has a paparazzi-proof entrance.

Head over to Vanity Fair to read the entire eye-opening interview. You'll realize that being Hermione is no picnic.

People are mom-shaming Kourtney Kardashian for letting her four-year-old wear a piece of jewelry.

Kourtney Kardashian caused quite the stir when she posted this photo of her and four-year-old daughter Penelope to Instagram.

Our Oscar Sunday. Yes, that's a lip ring. Thanks @kimkardashian

A post shared by Kourtney Kardashian (@kourtneykardash) on

Kourtney captioned the photo: "Our Oscar Sunday. Yes, that's a lip ring. Thanks @kimkardashian."

It's unclear whether the lip ring is real or just a clip-on. (Though, given that Penelope is just four years old, we assume that it's probably fake.) But fans on Instagram were quick to shame Kourtney for allowing her daughter to wear the jewelry.

Period.

One person even went so far as to accuse Kourtney Kardashian of "using the child to get attention from Scott." (Referring to her ex Scott Disick.)

Of course, there were also plenty of fans who defended Kourtney too, but come on, people. Can’t we just let moms decide what fake jewelry they will or will not let their children wear?

Twitter turned Trump's emotional car ride to Congress into a hilarious meme.

Things got pretty emotional as President Trump pulled away from the White House and headed to the Capitol to deliver his first joint Congressional Address. Like, "sepia-toned sad montage in a teen dramedy" levels of emotional. And naturally the internet noticed. Here are the best memes created from Trump's solitary backstage rehearsal of his big speech:

Here's why the Democratic women of Congress wore white for Trump's speech.

0
0

Tonight, as Trump gives his first joint Congressional address, many of the Democratic women representatives and delegates will be making a nod to the women's rights movement of the early 1900s, CNNreports. And they're doing that by wearing white.

Called "Suffragette White," the stark way of dressing was originally meant to represent purity, and today it's meant as a way for the House Democratic Women's Working Group to signify that they will stand together and against rulings that negatively affect women.

"We wear white to unite against any attempts by the Trump administration to roll back the incredible progress women have made in the last century," Florida Democratic Rep. Lois Frankel, the chair of the working group, said in a statement. "And we will continue to support the advancement of all women."

When the chair of the House Republican Conference, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, was asked how she felt about the act of solidarity, she said, "You know, I think this is an important time for us to be coming together...I'm hopeful that people will listen to his message tonight and that they'll be willing to come together, find the common ground, so that we can do the important work that the people expect us to do."

And while it is absolutely important that the two parties work together, lest we desire an unhinging of the entire political process, it should not mean a compromising of progress when it comes to the progress we've made towards rights for and treatment of women, as well as all minority groups in the country. The statement included causes and organizations that the women wearing white are showing their support for, including are Planned Parenthood, affordable health care, reproductive rights, equal pay, paid leave, and affordable child care.

Here's how politicians reacted during Trump's first congressional speech.

On Tuesday night, President Donald Trump gave his first joint congressional address. The crowd was pretty split—Republicans loved it, Democrats not so much. And a lot of those in attendance were not able to hide their facial expressions in a room full of cameras.

Here are some of the funniest audience reactions (and reactions to audience reactions) to President Trump's first speech to Congress:

Barack and Michelle Obama just signed a book deal and it's worth a fortune.

A "heated auction" for the rights to publish two books, one by Barack and one by Michelle Obama, ended in a reported $60 million deal with Penguin Random House, according to the BBC.

The number is not confirmed, but whether it's a little less or a little more, it can accurately be described as a f#$king s#*tload.

No wonder Obama looked so happy in New York City a week ago.

According to fake news organization The New York Times, the advance negotiated by the Obamas will dwarf those of similar public figures.

Bill Clinton's memoir went for $10 million, Hillary Clinton's went for $8 million. George W. Bush made an eventual $10 million when his book sold nearly two million copies.

Not sure how good you are at math, but all together that's a lot less than $60 million. Although the Obamas plan to donate some of the proceeds to charity, Penguin Random House is promising to cash in on the presidential words. Listen to this statement from the publisher, just dripping with ambition:

With their words and their leadership, they changed the world, and every day, with the books we publish at Penguin Random House, we strive to do the same. Now, we are very much looking forward to working together with President and Mrs. Obama to make each of their books global publishing events of unprecedented scope and significance.”

Even though "global publishing events" are just a hoax perpetrated by China, it sounds like these books might be a big deal.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are donezo after a year of dating.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have decided to go be two hot people separately as they are taking "a break" after dating for over a year.

Reps for the stars confirmed the split by saying, "Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time." Ah yes, "space." What a nice way of saying that these two are over.

The break up has to be super fresh because the couple was last seen together this past Sunday at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, though insiders noted that they spend most of the affair apart.

"Katy didn’t spend much time with Orlando," divulged a source. "They got together for a photo, but that was about it."

From that time Bloom went paddle boarding naked with Perry to the time they dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Claus and visited a children's hospital, this couple definitely had some headline-worthy times. Fingers crossed that the 40-year-old actor and the 32-year-old singer get back together, but if not, someone give Orlando my number.

James Corden got Kendall Jenner, Andrew Garfield, and other celebs to show off their hidden talents.

0

James Corden invited a bunch of nobodies like Kendall Jenner and Stevie Nicks to participate in The Late Late Show's 'Hidden Talent Show' on Tuesday, and surprisingly, these stars have more talents than the one that made them famous. One by one, surprise celebs emerged from behind the curtain to show the world that they are more than just beautiful, rich and highly-acclaimed people—they are beautiful, rich and highly-acclaimed people with a useless talent or party trick.

Andrew Garfield showed off his impressive gymnastics skills and literally did a backflip. Kendall Jenner demonstrated her bird calls. Stephanie "Stevie" Nicks twirled the baton (and hit herself in the face), while Taylor Lautner caught grapes in his mouth from impressive distances. It sounds like the weird, kitschy talent shows you probably sat through in your local VFW Hall growing up, just with hotter people.

Everyone is losing their minds over these pics of young Justin Trudeau, human thirst trap.

The internet could combust over a photo of Canadian hot Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at any second.

Easy there, Young Justin Trudeau. Let us set up the post a little bit before you bust in here like tha—

Take it easy, Young Justin Trudeau. Not yet! As we were saying, back in February the internet went full drunk aunt at wedding and started gawking at Trudeau's—ahem—bubble butt. We reported those facts not to objectify the man, but because the people deserved fair reporting, and it was a Thing.

Let me talk, Trudeau! First, we need to establish that the internet is currently drooling over the younger version of the still pretty young Justin Trudeau. Where did these photos come from? No idea. All we can report is that the internet found them.

Yes, yes Young Justin Trudeau, it's time. Go ahead and show yourself. FYI: Some of these tweets repeat the same photo, and we've left them in there so you can read the funny captions. It's the reason everyone looks at these tweets, for the captions.

Hey wait a second, that's Young Joe Biden! It's like every politician was once a young person or something. And that politics is a popularity contest so of course they've all got perfect skin and bone structure.

Anyway, here are your last few looks at Young Justin Trudeau.

Now maybe research his politics and get involved beyond just ogling a handso—

Whatever, nevermind.

Casey Affleck finally breaks his silence about the sexual harassment allegations against him.

0
0

Casey Affleck won the Oscar for Best Actor on Sunday night, and while he was indeed impressively sad in Manchester By the Sea, a cloud hangs over his controversial win.

In 2010, Affleck was sued by two women for sexual misconduct and sexual harassment on the set of his mockumentary film, I'm Still Here. He settled them both out of court.

The trouble with honoring a man with such a history was felt the moment his win was announced.

In an interview with his hometown paper, The Boston Globe, he said that while both parties are prohibited from commenting on the case, "none of the people condemning him online know what happened":

“I believe that any kind of mistreatment of anyone for any reason is unacceptable and abhorrent, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect in the workplace and anywhere else.”

“There’s really nothing I can do about it,” Affleck added wearily. “Other than live my life the way I know I live it and to speak to what my own values are and how I try to live by them all the time.”

The vague statement, with no specific mentions of women at all, will definitely make his publicist relieved, but he likely still won't be invited to brunch with his fellow acting winners.

People online have one small problem with Zara's "love your curves" ad.

0
0

An ad for clothing retailer Zara is being widely criticized for sending a confusing message about body positivity.

The ad's text says "love your curves," but the models featured in the ad are thin and wearing skinny jeans.

According to Mashable, the ads have been in stores since the beginning of February, but are now drawing criticism after a tweet by Irish radio personality Muireann O'Connell brought them to people's attention.

O'Connell clarified that she had no problem with the models featured, just the way that their image was used in the ads.

O'Connell wasn't the only one to point out the lack of curvaceous models in the Zara ads.

Some thought perhaps Zara was trying to be ironic.

Others think the store may just be trying to get people of all shapes and sizes to love their bodies.

We don't know what Zara's intentions actually were, but we do know that people love to be outraged.

12-year-old girl with autism shuts down racists texts from classmate's 'white and proud' dad.

A 12-year-old girl from Manchester, UK, has become the internet's newest hero with her calm, collected, and totally devastating response to a barrage of racist texts from her classmate's father. Millie-Grace Turner received 17 texts in one day from Dean Sheridan, the father of a girl in her class, in reaction to a feud between the two girls. They were then posted on Facebook by Millie-Grace's mother, Gill Turner, where they have attracted a lot of attention.

Warning: racist language below.

After that, Millie-Grace informed the 36-year-old Sheridan that she had taken screenshots to send to the police. He responded:

Very good now like ive been sayin contact my daughter again and ill be payin you and your parents a visit, oky doky, and if you show your parents these texes please please give them my number id love to speek to them and inform them what there daughter gets upto,TTFN

Note: "TTFN" stands for "ta ta for now"—basically the UK equivalent of "kthxbai."

Millie-Grace wrote back:

You are REALLY bad at spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Gill explained to The Mirror,

It's important to know that because Millie-Grace is on the autistic spectrum, she often corrects people's grammar. She isn't being rude.

But commenters didn't think she was being rude. They were 100% behind her clapping back at that racist. One wrote, "What's he doing texting a 12 year old anyway????? This is vile!!!!! Xxx," to which Gill responded:

Needless to say I am furious! Millie got 16 texts from him in one day..,! It is hard to stand back but I have to let the police deal with this... even though I have his full name and address now!!!

Contacted by The Mirror, Sheridan did not deny sending the texts, but explained that he was responding to a campaign of harassment by Millie-Grace and her friends against his daughter.

My little girl is off school at the moment. She's been off for five weeks with a fractured leg and all she's been getting is harassed by her and her cronies. What would you do to protect your daughter? We've just had the results back [from an MRI scan] on Friday and we were concerned that she had bone cancer. She has fractured her leg for no reason whatsoever. You can imagine the stuff we have been going through and then she's been getting little sh*ts phoning her, hassling her down the phone, calling her names on withheld numbers and it's all down to this little girl called Millie. She is getting lads to call her and everything, so when lads get involved, dad gets involved. … Yes, I've made some racial remarks regarding it, but I'm not going to take any of this regarding my daughter anymore.

The Greater Manchester Police are investigating Sheridan's racial remarks. Meanwhile, the debate over this incident is clearly far from over.

The internet loves the sweet way this RA helped a freshman overcome homesickness.

Leaving for college can be hard for some, especially those prone to homesickness. One day your mom is cutting your steak and doing your laundry, the next you are eating stale cereal from the dining hall and avoiding your weird roommate, and suddenly those small comforts of home mean so much more.

Quamir Boddie, an RA at the University of Tennessee understands that transitioning to living in a dorm could be difficult, so when he greeted his new residents back in August, he also sent out a form asking how he could make the year better for the new students. Freshman Andrew Kochamba proposed that Boddie read him a bedtime story on his birthday. Fast forward to February and Boddie totally delivered.

Boddie showed up to Andrew's room at 9pm on his birthday, clad in pajamas and book in hand. He readLeo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus, a story Boddie felt especially connected to because he was held back in the first grade.

“He read it all upside down so I could see all the pictures. It was impressive,” Kochamba told BuzzFeed. Now that is doing above and beyond the duties of an RA (which in my experience was mostly breaking up parties and holding floor meetings to shame people for being loud during sex).

But Boddie also said he benefited from story time. "At the time, I could not have imagined how meaningful this encounter would be; I could not have fathomed the impact it would have on the two of us," said Boddie. "Andrew was so engaged and interactive as I read to him, and that is all that really mattered to me."

Kochamba tweeted the picture of himself with Boddie, and internet quickly fell in love with this thoughtful RA (or should I say, "R Bae").

Now that is a story with a happy ending.
