Internet comes forward with messages of support for sweet grandpa who was stood up on a date.

0
0

This is Jim. This sweet, romantic 73-year-oldgrandpa got stood up by a Match.com date on Saturday.

Now people on the internet are sharing their support for him.

Jim's granddaughter, Gabby, tweeted a pictures of her grandfather, a dapper-looking dude who'd driven to a restaurant 45 minutes from his home only to be left waiting. He even bought chocolate and roses (candy and flowers! So chivalrous) for this woman who never showed up. Just goes to show that maturity doesn't necessarily come with age, because come on, lady—NOT COOL.

Gabby's tweet went viral, and people who saw it seemed just as outraged at the him being stood up as she was.

Some people felt bad, but gave the woman the benefit of the doubt.

The grandpa. :(

Others pointed out the loss was hers, not his.

The roses. :(

Others planned to take the matter into their own hands.

Still others tried to set him up or said that they'd just date him themselves.

Speaking to Metro, Gabby said:

My grandpa and I are very close and we talk about dating quite a lot since he’s been looking for a companion for a while now. My grandpa was really sad considering he has never been stood up before, so he immediately came over to my house to talk to me and my mom about it. We instantly comforted him because being stood up can be very hurtful.

Apparently Gabby's grandfather never heard from the date-to-be again.

But don't worry, the right one is out there for him somewhere!

Watch the Irish Prime Minister throw major shade at Donald Trump right in front of him.

Enda Kenny, the Prime Minister of Ireland (known over there as the "Taoiseach") celebrated St. Patrick's Day by powerfully reminding Donald Trump that St. Patrick was an immigrant.

In a rousing speech with an arousing accent, the Irish Prime Minister rebuked Trump for his animosity towards immigrants, referencing the Irish people's history to celebrate the American dream.

Donald Trump goes on a real face journey as soon as Kenny says "immigrants."

"How dare you insult my xenophobia in my own house?"

Irish people "came to America because, deprived of liberty, deprived of opportunity, of safety, of even food itself, the Irish believed, four decades before Lady Liberty lifted her lamp, we were the 'wretched refuse on the teeming shore','" the Irish Prime Minister said.

"We believed in the shelter of America, and the compassion of America, and the opportunity of America. We came, and we became Americans."

The Irish Prime Minister quickly became a hero.

In this case, Prime Minister Kenny is indeed the Hugh Grant, the beautifully-accented head of state who powerfully rebukes a sleazy American president in front of the world.

What the Irish Prime Minister did this St. Patrick's Day is brave and honorable.

To me, you are perfect, and deserve a dance party.

Hillary Clinton is still burning Donald Trump on Twitter.

Four months after she lost the presidency to Donald Trump in the weirdest election of all time, Hillary Clinton still hasn't forgiven or forgotten. And although she's mostly kept out of the public eye, choosing to let Trump's administration implode under the weight of countless scandals, she resurfaced today to indulge in one of her favorite hobbies: making fun of Trump on Twitter.

It started when Philippe Reines, who served as her senior advisor when she was secretary of state, tweeted this none-too-subtle bit of shade at the president.

Then HRC followed up for the one-two punch.

She may have lost the election to Vladimir Putin Donald Trump, but it's nice to see Hillary Clinton still has a sense of humor about the whole thing. It'll help her deal with watching the world burn.

The engagement ring Nick gave Vanessa has been on a 'Bachelor' show before.

Good news, Bachelor Nation: we've got another juicy scandal for you! (At least, it's kind of juicy.) The most observant fans of TheBachelor may have noticed something familiar about the engagement ring Nick Viall chose to propose to Vanessa Grimaldi with in this season's finale - because the exact same ring has been on the show before.

The drama began when Claudia Oshry (known on Instagram as @girlwithnojob) noticed something familiar about the ring that nick gave to Vanessa on the season finale of The Bachelor. It looked exactly like the one that contestant Robby Hayes chose to propose to JoJo Fletcher with on last year's season of The Bachelorette. (You know, before she shot him down.)

#bachelornation WE DESERVE TO KNOW THE TRUTH! Neil Lane, wtf is going on? #thebachelor

A post shared by Claudia Oshry (@girlwithnojob) on

Oshry's suspicions were later confirmed by People. They spoke to celebrity jeweler Neil Lane, who is The Bachelor franchise's go-to ring guy. He confirmed it was the exact same ring.

"I bring six rings and over the years, over the 9 years, some are the same, some have changed settings or are re-designed, and some are totally new," Lane said.

“The most important thing is for a ring to speak to the particular man and to the woman he is in love with. If a ring doesn’t speak to one person, then it wasn’t meant to be. If that particular ring wasn’t meant to find a home with JoJo, but rather spoke to Nick and Vanessa, then that’s the way it should be. It’s found its home,” he continued.

I do like that Neil Lane speaks about engagement rings the same way Ollivander talks about wands in Harry Potter. However, I am disappointed that my vision of him as a whimsical jewelry sorcerer who delicately hand-crafts each ring to fit the personality of each individual Bachelor contestant has been proven false.

WHAT A SCANDAL! Is it a no-no to pick the same engagement ring as someone else? Where's Chris Harrison's ruling on this? (Okay, fine. It's probably not really a scandal, but we're about to go two months without any Bachelor franchise drama. LET ME HAVE THIS!)

Hairstylist shares heartwarming before-and-after pics from a client who suffers from depression.

Sometimes feeling good about how you look on the outside will help you feel a little better on the inside. This certainly seemed to be the case for one woman in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Kate Langman, a hairstylist at The Salon inside Ulta Beauty, noticed a woman filling her cart with multiple items meant to soften and detangle hair. She asked the woman if she could help her with anything, and after talking for a bit, the customer revealed that she suffered from severe depression. Due to her mental illness, she stopped washing and combing her hair, and would lay in bed for months at a time. As a result, she ended up with a large matted knot that Langman described as a "rock on the back of her head."

I work at The Salon inside Ulta Beauty. About a month ago, I saw this women pulling every product off the "All Soft" Redken line. When I asked her if she needed any help, she began to tell me her story. A very long story short, this women suffered with a very deep depression. She couldn't get out of her bed for 6 months. Which meant she didn't wash her hair or brush it. She kept pulling it back into this bun which after that long of time turned into a huge dread lock. The bun was so matted that it felt like she literally had rock on the back of her head. This is when I mentioned to just put all the product back on the shelf. We made an appointment for the following day and she didn't show up. She then called about 2 weeks later and booked another appointment. And once again, no showed. At this point I figured she wasn't going to ever end up coming in. It actually, kind of, broke my heart. I wanted to help her so much.

My second home 💕

A post shared by kate🍦 (@katelyn2xx) on

After not showing up to either of her two scheduled hair appointments, Langman thought she would not ever see the woman again. But lo and behold, the woman returned and was finally ready to sit down in Langman's chair.

So today, out of alllll days, she comes walking in and asked if she can get her hair done today, and that she finally got herself out of bed again. I, of course, said yes. I didn't care how late I stayed, I wanted to make sure she got taken care of. She wanted to keep it on the longer side if it was at all possible. Most of the time the advice is to just cut it off..But I wanted to make this work for her. I wanted her to know how hard I was going to try to make her feel great again. I explained to her prices and she said "I don't care about the price, I just want to look like myself again." I spent 8 1/2 hours with this girl. 4 1/2 hours of combing, and 3 hours coloring and 1/2 hour for the cut. All of this time, I'm just telling myself to keep going.. that this is going to be all so worth it.

And it was! The results of the eight hours of labor speaks for itself.

*feel free to share!💕 So here's the long story very short. I work at The Salon inside Ulta Beauty. About a month ago, I...

But the haircut didn't just transform the client on the outside, it transformed her on the inside as well. In the end, experience seemed to be just as profound for Langman as it was for her client.

By the end of this service, I could see the sparkle in her eyes and I could see her cheeks get rosy pink from the excitement of not only being able to run her fingers through her hair again, but she felt herself again. I changed someone's life today.. & I'll never ever forget it.
& if this ever makes its way back to her, I want her to know how great, wonderful, kind, loving, and how strong of a person she is. And not only those things, but how beautiful she is.. she deserves nothing but happiness.. & I'm so thankful and so grateful I got to help with her first step.

Langman concluded her post with en emphatic "I LOVE MY DAMN CAREER," and we can certainly can understand why.

Of course, one haircut is not going to cure anyone's serious mental health issues, but the Langman is hoping that the new hairdo gave her client the confidence to start the recovery process. Sometimes it takes a little push, or a little snip, to start taking those first steps.

One Direction says Donald Trump once kicked them out of his hotel for refusing to meet his daughter.

Donald Trump was starting petty fights with celebrities long before he was president of the United States, and now it's been revealed that he once kicked beloved boy band One Direction out of his hotel in New York.

According to NME, One Direction's Liam Payne told Rollacoasterthat Trump booted One Direction from Trump Tower because the band didn't take the time to meet one of his daughters. (It has not been confirmed which Trump daughter is in question here.)

Apparently Trump summoned the band to come meet his daughter, and when they didn't comply, he booted them from the hotel.

https://media.giphy.com/media/l3nWhPLGFMgKCUxj2/giphy.gif

“You wouldn’t believe it. It was about [meeting] his daughter," Liam Payne said in the interview. "He phoned up our manager and we were asleep. He said ‘well, wake them up’ and I was like ‘no’ and then he wouldn’t let us use the underground garage. Obviously in New York we can’t really go outside. New York is ruthless for us.”

“So he was like, ‘OK, then I don’t want you in my hotel.’ So we had to leave,” Payne continued.

If you want to hear Donald Trump's side of the story, we're sure he'll be tweeting it to Liam around 5AM tomorrow morning.

Dr. Pimple Popper digs out the mother of all lipomas from a patient's shoulder.

Holy moly, this must be the mother of all lipomas. For anyone not familiar with Dr. Pimple Popper (a.k.a. Dr. Sandra Lee) the internet-famous dermatologist, she removes lipomas pretty frequently, no big deal. But this head-shaped fatty mass on her shoulder is so big its owner has named it (Fran). It's so big that apparently Dr. Pimple Popper is the first doctor who agreed to remove it without what the client refers to as "radical surgery."

When she opens this sucker up, it basically looks like an orange hiding under her skin. And as she's pulling it out, it goes from having the consistency of what looks like mango to chicken fat. Mmmm. Speaking of, anyone going to see Raw this weekend?

Anyway, this lipoma is so big Dr. Pimple Popper decides to weigh it—7.2 ounces. Farewell, Fran. You were a good lipoma.

Guy buys his dog a birthday cake, captures the greatest reaction shot in history.

Sound the bells! The internet has a new favorite dog. This adorably goggle-eyed pooch went viral on Reddit after her owner, user tastyhouse, posted a photo from her birthday celebration. He captioned the pic: "I thought ordering my dog a birthday cake would be a waste of money... Her reaction was worth every penny."

CAKE!

Not only is that a beautiful dog, but her appreciation for cake basically makes this the best photo of all time. Reddit agrees—in only 14 hours, the post collected more than 44,000 upvotes. It was reposted to Imgur, where it picked up another 9,000. Could this meme finally be a worthy successor to the classic Birthday Dog?

We can only hope.

Donald Trump refused to shake Angela Merkel's hand and this international incident is now a meme.

President Donald Trump's photo ops with foreign leaders have been almost as uncomfortable as his photos with his daughter Ivanka.

The Prime Minister of Japan rolled his eyes and the Prime Minister of Canada took a second to stare at his hand, knowing where it had been.

But it's Trump's meeting with the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, that wins the awards for Most Cringeworthy and Most Devastating Insight Into Donald Trump's Immense Immaturity.

Trump, ever the adult man, froze Angela Merkel out and denied her a handshake, grinning and ignoring her.

Really.

Trump and Merkel are already at odds, in light of Trump's comments about NATO, the European Union, and refugees.

Oh, and we know he just doesn't know how to treat women in general.

People feel for Merkel.

And mostly feel for the America's role as the leader of the free world.

Mom defends controversial GoFundMe asking for $6K to take her kids to Disney World.

Nikki Smith, a mom-of-two from the UK, sparked a huge online backlash with a controversial GoFundMe page asking for £5,000 (about $6K) to take her two daughters to Disney World. After the page went viral, she took it down, The Sun reports. But she has now put a new page up passionately defending herself, and doubled her fundraising goal to £10,000 (about $13K).

"After the worst time and the twisted story the newspapers told about me I was prompted to put my page back up," she writes. "I feel this to be the only way I can speak out, I am not a bad person."

The 33-year-old mom works two nights a week in a local hospital, and in her initial post said she couldn't work more “because of childcare” and so she was asking strangers to "make my daughters’ dreams come true."

"It’s so hard to save with two children as well as working part time, you’ve got the bills and shopping – it would probably take me 10 years to save up that much and it would be too late then," she told The Sun.

The initial page had raised only £10 (about $13) when she took it down.

But people criticized Smith for taking advantage of GoFundMe—a website usually used to raise money for charitable causes. Her initial post was ironically shared more than 18,000 times on Facebook and received hundreds of nasty comments.

“Taking the absolute piss," wrote one commenter, The Sun reports. "There are plenty of families who struggle with money that save for holidays regardless of how long it takes. Absolute chancer.”

Another wrote: "There's kids dying and crying out for help for GoFundMe pages for treatment to save their lives. I know which one I would be donating to."

Since putting up her new page, Smith has raised £360 (about $450) towards her goal.

Here's her full post defending her decision:

After the worst time and the twisted story the newspapers told about me I was prompted to put my page back up , I feel this to be the only way I can speak out ,I am not a bad person :( ..I also am not asking people for their hard earned money , people have a choice . I need to add that i did not sell any story and have received no money from any of the newspapers , they stole my photos and made up a lot .my children , family or anybody knew that I set up this page ( well they do now ) and yes I should have thought about it more before I opened it but it's too late now . i love my children and my job , I'm a carer and I havent been able to get anymore hours at work , nights are not easy to come by , I do try . the press have made me out to be a awful person when I was only thinking of my children and making them happy .I have never used go fund me before so I should have looked into it more. I have used the just giving website and I completed race for life last year , in memory of my much loved close relatives. I thought this section of the website was for funding hopes , dreams and wishes, and I believed go fund me was a chance to raise money for anything,I looked in the category and a lot of people were doing similar things , even raising money for breast enhancements and cars , Also I know people who have funded their own holidays this way . I never meant to upset anyone .I'm traumatised by the abuse and negativity I have received and only put this back up because alot of people said I should. Online trolls are evil , I haven't hurt anyone and I was only trying to fulfil my children's dreams .this is my original story ... thankyou to all who have been so kind to me. X

On the one hand, I can totally understand how people with sick kids or facing urgent medical crisis might resent this relatively frivolous GoFundMe request. But on the other hand, with all that's going on in the world, this is where we focus our rage? A mom trying to take her kids to Disney World? SMDH.

For once, internet, can we let a mom live?????

Mom goes viral with hilarious rant about 'dirty' middle school bathroom.

0

One mom is going viral with her cringeworthy video showcasing the state of the bathroom in a Georgia middle school. She was at the school with her son, who attended last year and was visiting an old teacher, according to Us Weekly. She stepped into the bathroom for a tissue and history was made. Well, Facebook Live was made, anyway.

Lithonia Middle School bathroom

Posted by Ashonti Dixon on Thursday, March 9, 2017

In the video, Ashonti Dixon explains that she teared up listening to the school's chorus practice, and hit up the bathroom for a tissue. Once inside, though, she couldn't help but marvel at the grossness that is this dirty Lithonia Middle School bathroom. Dixon grabbed her phone and made a video showing the non-working toilets, broken stall doors, missing soap dispensers, filthy sinks, and empty toilet paper holders. That video, posted on Facebook on March 9, has now been viewed over 20,000 times, because holy moly, this is the bathroom from hell.

But it's not just the state of the bathroom that's making people watch (after all, how many people really want to see a video of a dirty bathroom?), it's the 36-year-old mom's hilarious commentary. Talking about a roll of toilet paper just hanging out on the dirty floor, she asks, "Who wants to use tissue that’s been on the floor? Nobody. Because our vaginas matter, they really do.”

Fun is fun, but as Ashonti Dixon tells Us Weekly, "I’m a funny person, but at the same time I am serious." While she's surprised her video has gotten as big as it has, she says that she hopes that this will lead to an improvement in the state of the bathroom, saying, "Our kids deserve better.”

White House accidentally shares article about the ‘perfect’ Trump budget. They should have read it first.

0
0

The White House accidentally promoted a humor piece mocking Donald Trump's budget in their daily email on Friday, according to TheDaily Beast.

Apparently, White House staffers wanted to include a few links to positive news stories about Donald Trump. Which is all well and good, if you can find any. Unfortunately for Donald Trump, whoever put the White House newsletter together failed to even glance at the Washington Post article they included—a hilarious piece by writer Alexandra Petri absolutely savaging the Trump budget. The headline was "Trump’s budget makes perfect sense and will fix America, and I will tell you why."

The article is hilarious, especially if you've been following the headlines on Trump's proposed budget. If the Trump administration gets its way, they'll increase funding for the military and immigration enforcement and slash it nearly everywhere else.

Here's the second paragraph of Petri's savage satire column:

This budget will make America a lean, mean fighting machine with bulging, rippling muscles and not an ounce of fat. America has been weak and soft for too long. BUT HOW WILL I SURVIVE ON THIS BUDGET? you may be wondering. I AM A HUMAN CHILD, NOT A COSTLY FIGHTER JET. You may not survive, but that is because you are SOFT and WEAK, something this budget is designed to eliminate.

You'd think the Trump administration would be able to recognize satire against him at this point, wouldn't you? What with SNLdevoting most of their airtime to it?

Here's a few more great quotes from the Washington Post column, about why Donald Trump's budget is the greatest budget in the history of budgets:

National Endowment for the Arts: The NEA will be destroyed and replaced with an armored helicopter with a shark painted on it.

Affordable housing is a luxury and we are going to get rid of it. Donald Trump does not live in affordable housing and neither should you.

[On education]: All schoolchildren will be taught by an F-35 wearing a Make America Great Again hat.

Alexandra Petri told The Daily Beast she's "honored to finally be real, true news, which is all I've ever striven for." Read Petri's full article, here.

This baby is Ed Sheeran's doppelganger, which is both creepy and cute.

Ed Sheeran's latest doppelganger provides the crooner with a glimpse into his future

Two-year-old Isla Watson in Exeter, England has no relation to the singer, but has his exact face.

Isla really does look more like Ed Sheeran than Ed Sheeran.

The picture of the baby went viral, with Twitter curious if Sheeran has a secret to share.

Isla's aunt told The Sun,"Everyone comments saying how shes a mini Ed, and I call her baby Sheeran. She loves his music, tries to sing along to the words and has a dance."

While The Sun insists that baby Isla is a person with parents and a family that isn't Ed Sheeran's, a side-by-side makes it all the more confusing.

The shape of you...is also the shape of me.

Donald Trump fumes over 'ridiculous' 'Alec Baldwin situation.' Looks like someone struck a nerve.

0
0

SHOCKING NEWS: Donald Trump is still pissed at Alec Baldwin for playing him on Saturday Night Live, according to Entertainment Weekly. In a Fox News interview that previewed last night, the president was asked to choose from three of his nemeses which one he would "fire." Get it? Because he used to "fire" people on his show The Apprentice and now he is the president and has a lot of power and we should all be afraid! LOL!

“Chuck Schumer, the president of CNN [Jeff Zucker], and Alec Baldwin. If you had to fire one person right now, who would you fire?” Fox host Jesse Watters asked the president of the United States of America.

Trump of course put some serious thought into answering this monumentally important hypothetical question. And—surprise!—he wants to fire all three of them.

"I think the Alec Baldwin situation is not good," he said. "Chuck I’m very disappointed in, because he’s a guy who should make deals for the people — instead he’s just an obstructionist. So, I’m disappointed in him. And Jeff Zucker, I mean, I got him the job. And CNN is just, you know, fake news."

He continued: "who would I say? I just, I don’t want to say, but I will say I’m disappointed in all three. I think the portrayal of me is ridiculous."

Trump has made no secret of the fact that he has a huge chip on his shoulder over Alec Baldwin's portrayal of him on Saturday Night Live.

Remember this?

Which is usually a sign that an impression is right on the nose.

But luckily for Donald Trump, Baldwin might not be doing the impression for much longer. Because as they say in comedy, you only roast the ones you love. And Alec Baldwin loves Donald Trump like I love getting stuck underground on the subway during rush hour with a gassy stranger.

I'd celebrate St. Patrick's Day if they made green wine.

Serial 'dine-and-dash dater' meets women at restaurants and leaves them with the bill.

Online dates don't always go well, but multiple women in Los Angeles have met a guy who puts even our worst Tinder matches to shame.

A man by the name of Paul Gonzales is a serial "dine-and-dash dater." He meets women online, invites them to a restaurant, then ditches them so they have to foot the bill.

ABC13 spoke with one woman who went on a date with Gonzales. She says they met on Bumble, though his profile said his name was Dave Gonzales. He's since taken it down.

The woman said she met Gonzales for dinner. He quickly ate his meal, and then got up from the table.

"He left maybe half a baked potato and then received a phone call and said 'I need to take this call,' " the woman said.

He never returned, and she was left to pay the bill.

"The waiter came back and said 'He's not out there. Is this a first date?'" the woman recalled. "And I said: 'Yes, this is a first blind date, and he said, 'He's gone.' "

Luckily, the restaurant was nice enough to comp the price of the meals. The woman only had to pay for Gonzales' glass of wine.

Understandably, she was shocked. After the date, she went online and found other local news stories about Gonzales. He had racked up large bills on two other dates last summer, leaving the women to pay the bills.

Police say Gonzales was previously caught on a security camera at a hair salon, walking out without paying after getting a cut and color. (How do you even do that?)

According to the L.A. County District Attorney's Office, he has two warrants out for his arrest after failing to appear in court for petty theft and driving without a license. He's also previously spent time in jail several times for misdemeanors.

It's a wonder that he's still single.

Teen has perfect solution when her little sister is 'dress coded' for 'revealing too much chest.'

0
0

High school dress codes are often sexist and absurd, and this teenager found a creative way to fight back. Kansas high school student Isabella Rossellini (not the the one Ross was allowed to cheat on Rachel with) was shocked when her 13-year-old sister Grace was “dress coded” at school on Monday for wearing this:

Gasp! Her shoulders are showing!

Grace told Buzzfeed News she wasn't formally punished for the shirt, but that several teachers "commented negatively" on her apparel. "I went into school and I received some looks from teachers, just not nice looks," she said. "Instantly I was like—okay, I’m going to get dress-coded and I felt the need to change."

Her sister Isabella, hero among heroes, had the perfect solution. She whipped up a new shirt for her little sister to wear real quick. Here it is:

The spectacularly badass shirt reads:

Dress code:

-Promotes the objectification and sexualization of young bodies.

-Blames the wearer for the onlooker’s perceptions/ actions.

-Perpetuates rape culture.

-Is BS.

Isabella shared a photo of the shirt switch on Twitter, where it's going viral:

"My 13 year old sister was dress coded for her shirt today for 'revealing too much chest and shoulder' so i made her a shirt to change into," she wrote.

And people are loving it.

And this girl pointed out the sexist double standard behind so many dress codes:

Luckily, we might all be able to get our own version of this shirt soon.

I might get one because it looks comfortable. And it's important to be comfortable when smashing the patriarchy.
