Motorcyclist's ex told her she 'couldn't handle' a trip around the world. She proved him wrong.

This is Nicki Misurelli. She's a 30-year-old woman (and all-around badass) who spends her time riding a motorcycle and traveling around the world.

Misurelli told The Independent that she was inspired to take the trip when she asked her now ex-boyfriend if she could come along on a motorcycle trip he was planning from Alaska to Argentina. He replied that it was a "guys only" trip that would be "too dangerous and intense" for her.

"You probably couldn't handle it," he told her. (Do you see me seething? I'm seething.)

"So we broke up and I went by myself," Misurelli said. (YAS, GIRL!)

For the first leg of her journey, Misurelli rode 12,000 miles from Alaska to Panama.

And she didn't stop there. Just last month, she finished a 5,500 mile tour through Italy, Spain, France, Gibraltar, Portugal, Austria, Slovenia, and Morocco.

“A lot of people just assume I’m rich,” she told The Independent. “But it’s not true. I have no house and barely any possessions. I pulled all my retirement money and sold almost all of my belongings. It’s amazing how little we actually need in life.”

In between trips, Misurelli works part-time. On the road, she carries as little as possible and sleeps wherever she can, including a highway tunnel in Italy.

“I do not have an exact route, I leave it open to spontaneous and random opportunities," Misurelli told The Telegraph. "Life and traveling is not always easy, but I have discovered that it makes me physically and mentally stronger and I learn more about myself and other people and cultures too."

You can follow Misurelli's awesome adventures on her Instagram and Facebook.

Ex-wife of cheating governor had been collecting evidence against him for years.

On April 10, Alabama governor Robert Bentley resigned amid a cheating scandal. He had been carrying on a long-term affair with his former senior political adviser, Rebekah Mason, and he also allegedly violated campaign finance and state ethics long while doing so.

The Alabama House Ethics Committee had a great deal of evidence against Robert Bentley (like 3,000 pages of sexts that "at times reads more like a cheap romance novel than a legal report"). Now we're learning that most of the evidence came from Bentley's ex-wife, Dianne, who'd been collecting it to use against him for a number of years.

According to Elite Daily, Dianne Bentley first sensed that something was up in 2013, when she noticed Mason sending non-work-related texts to her husband at odd hours. But she didn't find out the truth until February 14, when, at dinner during the National Governor's Association in D.C., she couldn't help but notice that Bentley had sent a text to Mason reading, "I can't take my eyes off of you." As they were all sitting at the same table. Check, please!

In the spring of 2014, Robert Bentley pulled the genius move of accidentally texting Ms. Bentley, "I love you Rebekah." Wow. Kind of hard to talk your way out of that one.

And then the man gave his wife his (state-issued!) iPad, not realizing that it was synced to his phone and that all his texts message would show up on the iPad, too. SMDH.

Due to the copious amount of texts between Robert Bentley and Rebekah Mason, Ms. Bentley was able to gather at lot of evidence. But she didn't stop there. The impeachment report states that in March 2014, Ms. Bentley managed to set up her phone to record audio, and then left it in the same room as Bentley and went out. Just one minute after she left, Bentley was on the phone with Mason, talking about Mason's breasts. DANG.

Dianne Bentley filed for divorce in 2015, but she didn't present her evidence to the ethics committee until the following year. The texts and audio she provided were damaging to Robert Bentley's reputation, but far worse was his attempt to cover up the affair. According to the impeachment report, Bentley intimidated anyone who knew about the affair into silence using his bodyguard and other law enforcement officials. On top of that, he neglected to disclose a $50,000 personal loan to his campaign account.

Starting to get the feeling this guy is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Student's ad for a microwave goes viral because it's the most college thing ever.

If you went to college, and especially if you went to a "party school" like I did (shout out to McGill University!), then this hilarious ad for a microwave from a student at Arizona State University will bring back all of the hazy memories.

ASU student Mat George first shared this passive aggressive but otherwise pretty tame post on his school's Facebook list-serve:

"My sister has left her microwave in my room since August," he wrote. "I’ve asked her multiple times to get it and she hasn’t. So now I’m selling it. Message me if you’re interested."

We're off to a good start already, but then another student hit him up asking for the microwave's dimensions. Fair question.

However, Mat George, being a college student with a very college lifestyle, doesn't have a tape measure. So he did what college students are famous for, and made use of the limited resources available to him. In his case: vodka, vodka, and more vodka.

He used vodka bottles as a tape measure. It's like poetry.

"I don’t have a tape measure but it’s about as tall as a fifth of berry New Amsterdam and has the length of a berry and mango fifth of New Am(sterdam)," he wrote, and included a photo for proof.

A fellow ASU student screenshotted the exchange and shared it on Twitter, where it went viral.

"I love ASU," she wrote.

Now everyone on Twitter wants to go to ASU.

I went to McGill because it was "in Canada" and "on a mountain," so I guess "student uses vodka to sell a microwave" is as good a reason to choose a college as any other. Although I wouldn't necessarily put that on the application.

Guy tries to troll phone company and gets brutally shot down.

Tesco Mobile is not here for your trolling (Prepare to be in the weird position of cheering on a phone company).

Riffing on the dude who asked Wendy's how many retweets he needs to get a year's supply of chicken nuggets (the answer is 18, and the kid is on his way), Twitter user Baz reached out to Tesco for his own set of RTs.

Tesco Mobile, too cool for Baz anyway, had the troll attempt backfire bigly.

Raz was burned, but didn't want to accept defeat. He attempted a comeback.

Tesco shot back within 15 minutes.

They went there: They called the troll out for his inability to troll, which is precisely what trolls least want to be trolled about.

Don't mess with Tesco. Even if the network is sh*tty, their Twitter comebacks got you covered.

Podcasters interviewed Martin Shkreli and goaded him to be as douchey as possible. He delivered.

It's been a while since infamous "pharma bro" Martin Shkreli made headlines with his rich boy antics, like buying the rights to a life-saving drug and hiking the price 700%, or buying the only copy of a Wu-Tang Clan album and not letting anyone hear it. Wondering what this beloved internet villain was up to, comedians Dylan Palladino and Freddy G invited Shkreli to be a guest on their podcast Model and the Mensch. Shockingly, Shkreli agreed.

For 18 cringe-inducing minutes, the hosts basically set Shkreli up to say as many loathsome and/or chauvinistic things as possible, and he didn't let them down even once. This is not a guy who's afraid of looking like an A-hole.

In the two-minute clip below, Shkreli explains what he looks for in a woman, gives his opinion on plastic surgery, and tells a story about a nightclub that will make you shudder for at least a week. It's great.

Lyft driver goes viral explaining the powerful reason he won’t drive drunk women home.

This is Tro’Juan Henderson, a 28-year-old Lyft driver in Texas who is also a ninja fighting rape culture on Twitter. Basically, the coolest Lyft driver ever.

Yesterday during a shift in Dallas, Henderson refused to pick up a woman because she was "intoxicated/unconscious" and traveling alone, he explains in a video now going viral on Twitter. He asked her two friends if they would travel with her, even offering them cheaper rides. But when they declined, he canceled the ride. And not because he was worried about getting puke in the car (although let's be real, that would've happened).

In the video, Henderson explains why he doesn't transport drunk women (Hint: it's for their safety):

"Even though I won’t rape or sexually assault this lady…as a friend, that puts your friend in a possibility of great danger," he says in the video.

His message is an important one that we don't hear enough. As a current non-drinker, I've accompanied many a drunk friend home. And as a former booze hound (I don't remember most of the early 2000s), I've also been the one who needed to be accompanied. So I know that while no one wants to play babysitter on their night out, sometimes it's necessary when alcohol is involved.

Henderson says he was motivated to become an advocate for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors after working with the National Domestic Violence Hotline in Austin (NDVH). Though he "always knew rape was wrong," he says he woke up to the realities of rape culture at anNDVH workshop. He recalls:

I remember going to a workshop and hearing a guy who, after a woman was raped, said, ‘Aye man, boys will be boys.’ Like basically that because we’re men, this is in our nature and we can’t control ourselves. It was a shock. I knew that was wrong. From that point on, I knew I had to be more vocal. Men have to hold themselves more accountable.

May we all be so lucky to have this guy as our Lyft driver. Don't forget to travel safe and always keep an eye on your drunk friends, you party animals!

Wishing you a very jocund National Scrabble Day.

Ellen DeGeneres is beefing with a teenager over a tweet about chicken nuggets.

$

ICYMI: A teenager named Carter Wilkerson is currently trying to get a year's supply of free chicken nuggets from Wendy's. All he has to do, Wendy's official Twitter account confirmed, is get 18 million people to RT this tweet:

In eight days, he's already almost 1/6th of the way there. Not only could this kid actually win a year's worth of free chicken nuggets, but he's on his way to having the most retweeted tweet of all time. In 2017, that's basically the Nobel Prize.

One problem: the tweet currently holding that record, at approx 3.3 million RT's, is Ellen DeGeneres' famous 2014 Oscars selfie. And she's not happy at the idea of being dethroned by a teen.

Earlier today, DeGeneres shared a clip from today's episode of her talk show The Ellen Show on Twitter. "Not today, nugget boy," she captioned it, and tagged Wilkerson.

"I'm angry," says the comedian in the clip. "I'm angry because I worked so hard to set that record." She then makes a pretty strong case for why she should hold on to the esteemed title:

First I got my own sitcom, and then I came out, and then I lost everything... then I came back with my talk show and became so popular they asked me to host the Oscars... and then I gathered all the biggest stars into one selfie and I challenged the world to share it. And boom! I achieved my goal of the most retweeted tweet of all time. And this guy asked for nuggets??

But Carter is not about to give up his fight just because Ellen asked him to. He tweeted this response, explaining that Wendy's just upped their offer:

If Wilkerson beats DeGeneres, Wendy's has agreed to donate $100,000 to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. This makes it pretty tricky to side with Ellen. But she proposed this compromise: if everyone who RT's Carter's nugget tweet also RT's Ellen's Oscars tweet, they can share the victory.

Plus, if they tie, Ellen will throw in a bonus prize. "If I can ride your coat tails to 18 million retweets I'll give you a year's supply of Ellen underwear and this 55-inch Roku TV," she promised Carter.

It's pretty clear to me that what must do, as good citizens of the world, is simple: we must retweet them both. Think of the children! Think of Carter's free Ellen underwear!

And Carter, if you're reading this: we have the same last name and are probably distant cousins. So please, if and when you win those nuggets, please don't forget to share the wealth. I mean, we're family.

Jimmy Kimmel asked kids to explain the story of Easter. They were so, so wrong.

Easter Sunday is this weekend, and though kids usually associate this holiday with binging on chocolate delivered by a giant bunny and hunting for eggs, many don't actually know the real "reason for the season." Hint, it has a little something to do with Jesus.

Jimmy Kimmel sent a correspondent out onto the streets to ask kids the simple question "What is the meaning of Easter?" Although some kids nailed it, many answers are going to make Sunday school teachers cringe.

"What happened with Jesus on Easter?" the correspondent asked a boy, who responded, "He made a bunny?"

Honestly, we can't blame him thinking that. Easter does send some mixed signals. And that wasn't a bad guess, unlike the boy who thought that Jesus died from a drug overdose. Oy, better get yourself to confession ASAP, kid.

Chinese media takes two hilarious shots at Trump in savage viral headlines.

A Beijing-based Wall Street Journal reporter, Te-Ping Chen, translated two headlines from China for her followers, and now they're going viral for the sheer bluntness of the language.

How the news Trump won't label China a currency manipulator plays here:

"Eating his words!"

"Trump slaps self in face, again"

The headlines, which notably come from state-run media, according to the Huffington Post, refer to Trump's betrayal of a prominent campaign promise on Wednesday.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump said, "They're not currency manipulators," referring to China.

So he won't put them on a Treasury Department blacklist, despite writing an op-ed in 2015 that said, "On day one of a Trump administration, the US Treasury Department will designate China a currency manipulator."

Do those LOLs from Chinese media make more sense now? Twitter especially loved their choice of photos.

Not that they didn't have a few suggestions for next time:

And the Chen shared another two headlines, just for fun:

Donald Trump, spreading joy across the world.

Someone compared the United Airlines passenger to Rosa Parks and Twitter is not here for it.

Dr. David Dao, the United Airlines passenger who was roughly dragged off a plane by police officers, has apparently been compared to civil rights hero Rosa Parks. And not everyone is too pleased about the comparison.

The video of David Dao being forcefully removed from the flight went viral this week for its extreme treatment of a paying customer who was already seated the plane. The United flight was thought to be overbooked, but it turned out they just didn't have enough seats for several airlines employees, so four people were asked to leave the plane. When Dao, who had supposedly been chosen at random, refused to leave his seat, Chicago police intervened—hard.

During a press conference concerning the incident, David Dao's lawyer, Thomas Demetrio, revealed that he'd gotten an email from someone saying that Dao was "an Asian version of Rosa Parks," according to USA Today.

Rosa Parks

A few people on Twitter also made the same comparison between David Dao and Rosa Parks.

But not everyone on Twitter felt the same way about that.

In case it's not completely clear why the comparison isn't really an accurate one, Rosa Parks' niece, Urana McCauley, made a video for TMZ explaining the difference.

She agrees that what happened to Dao was "wrong" and "definitely a mistreatment of him," but she explains, "What Dr. Dao was going to do was probably change the policy of United Airlines, but actually what my aunt did was change history."

Conan literally ‘drags’ United with a brutal fake commercial.

On Sunday, United Airlines came under fire after a video surfaced of airport police brutally dragging a passenger off an overbooked flight, bloodying him in the process. Since then, United has been overwrought with controversy, not to mention the butt of many jokes.

Conan O'Brien is the latest late night host to satirize the United incident with this hilarious fake commercial for 'United Groundlines,' a service that drags you to your destination.

"There's no place we can't drag you to. You'll arrive at your destination in a matter of many days," boasts the faux commercial, signing off with the tagline "United ground lines, drag the friendly ground."

The actual incident is a lot less funny. According to The New York Times, the man dragged from the aircraft, Dr. David Dao, may need surgery for the injuries sustained during the violent incident.

This is the moment Kim Kardashian learned about Kanye West’s hospitalization in November.

2016 was a tough year for Kim Kardashian. In October, a robbery in Paris left her fighting for her life and shortly after, her husband Kanye West was hospitalized for exhaustion after his trainer made a disturbance call. Plus, the cameras were on the whole time, so now she gets to relive it as the world watches and writes about it!

E! released a teaser for the upcoming episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which features the moment when Kim learns over the phone that her husband has been hospitalized.

"I get a call from one of Kanye's friends, and my heart drops," she says, "They're not telling me anything."

She has her mom and sister Kourtney come be with her as she learns that Kanye has been hospitalized.

Kanye West stayed at UCLA Medical Center for nine days, and Kim Kardashian stayed by his side. Fortunatelyfully, today he is okay.

To paraphrase Karl Marx, history happens first as tragedy, and then as reality television.

Here's what 'Pearl the Landlord' looks like ten years later.

$

Back in 2007, the internet was rocked by one of the biggest smash-hit viral videos of all time: The Landlord. This two-minute masterpiece, created by Will Ferrell and Anchorman director Adam McKay with no budget, was the first creation of Funny or Die, and put that site on the map as a major player in the brand-new field of internet video. It also got an entire generation saying, "I want my money, b*tch," to each other for years.

McKay's two-year-old daughter Pearl, who starred as the eponymous landlord, was an immediate worldwide sensation. But her parents decided to turn down the acting offers so she could have a normal childhood (or as normal as possible once everyone on the internet has heard you talk about getting your drink on).

Now, ten years later, the 12-year-old Pearl has publicly resurfaced with an exclusive interview in Vice.

Pearl answered all of Vice's questions with all the grace and charm her landlord character lacked. Although she obviously doesn't remember making the video, she does have childhood memories of people being starstruck by her internet fame. A hairdresser even asked her to sign a hairbrush once.

But her best answers came when she was asked for her opinions on comedy. Vice asked her how she thinks comedy has changed since The Landlord came out, and she responded:

Today, I think all the social medias have different types of humor. Awhile ago adults would go, "Oh, a two-year-old swearing, that's hilarious," but now I think that would only appeal to maybe a nine-year-old. I don't really find it funny.

Also, grownups will find humor on stuff like The Walking Dead. Anything my parents like they'll find something funny about it. I don't know how they do it. My mom will be like, "Breaking Bad, that's such a funny show. I love it." But it's actually not such a funny show.

She also managed to inadvertently throw shade on her famous dad's work as only a 12-year-old can. When asked what makes her laugh the most, she said, "I like BuzzFeed a lot. I mostly watch that." Pretty harsh, considering her dad is the founder of Funny or Die.

Just to hammer home the humiliation, she was asked what advice she would give to her father for his future films.

He should do more comedy projects. My favorite movies of his are Anchorman and stuff. The Big Short was boring. It's probably a good movie but I kind of fell asleep during it. It's not really for 12-year-olds.

Maybe 'Pearl the Landlord' wasn't such a character after all. This kid is savage.

Head over to Vice to check out the full interview.

Jersey politician caught on tape asking woman to 'f*ck' him compares himself to Jesus.

Here's a video of a New Jersey politician drunkenly telling a woman at a bar that she "should fuck" him, because he's just that sort of classy guy. The politician is GOP New Jersey Assembly candidate Brian McDowell, who has, according to Politico, just lost the endorsement of Cape May County Republicans, thanks to his generous offer of his penis at the bar.

Cape May County GOP Chairman Mark Karavan told Politico,

The GOP is very supportive of women and women’s rights. We have three women who have been elected as freeholders, several women constitutional officers. Supporting women and women’s groups is one of our core values. You can do the math.

In the video, Brian McDowell tells a woman at a bar (who was later revealed to be a friend of his), "Let me tell you right now. You should fuck me. It would really be good. Listen, you never know.” Ooof. Listen, sometimes you do know, and that woman seems pretty sure about NO.

Also, Brian McDowell wants you to know that he wasn't drunk in the video. As if it makes it better that he's just like that sober. He told Politico, “Yes, I had a couple of drinks but it also shows the confidence that I have in a room. And I believe in life most people enjoy confidence." He might be enjoying that confidence, but I can guarantee the women around him are not.

Even though he's lost the support of Cape May County Republicans, McDowell isn't quitting the race. In fact, this seems to have made him stronger, since he's now (confidently) comparing himself to none other than JESUS.

McDowell attempted to explain away this moment by telling Politico, “There are human errors and even Jesus dropped the cross three times. I’m not running to be the Pope. I’m running to make New Jersey more affordable.”

Okay, wow, not quite the same thing. Maybe he should replace "confident" with "delusional."

Katy Perry may have taken a subtle jab at Taylor Swift in her latest interview.

There's no question that Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have an on-going but quiet feud constantly bubbling under the surface. The shade has been relatively subdued since October, when Katy Perry shared a video of herself dancing to "Famous," Kanye West's Taylor Swift-shading anthem, but it seems the feud hasn't ended quite yet.

In a new interview with Vogue, Katy Perry seemed to call out celebrities like Taylor Swift who have stayed relatively silent about social and political issues. Perry said in the interview (in a way Vogue described as "pointedly"):

I don’t think you have to shout it from the rooftops, but I think you have to stand for something, and if you're not standing for anything, you're really just serving yourself, period, end of story.

Many think this may have been a subtle jab at Swift, who has been famously quiet about politics. The only time she's really said anything is when she posted this Instagram on Election Day, urging her fans to vote.

Today is the day. Go out and VOTE 🇺🇸

A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on

Perry went on to describe how she's evolved as a person and a performer in the last few years, saying that she's become more vocal about issues that matter to her in recent years and think other celebrities should do the same. She told Vogue:

"California Gurls" and fluffy stuff would be completely inauthentic to who I am now and what I’ve learned. I do believe we need a little escapism, but I think that it can’t all be that. If you have a voice you have a responsibility to use it now, more than ever.

Whether or not Katy Perry truly meant to throw shade at Taylor Swift is unknown, but she just loves throwing shade at Taylor so much, you can't blame us for reading into it a little.

Ever feel like you just can't muster up the energy to get anything done? Like life is just dragging you along? That you are simply too exhausted to GAF anymore? Well, first off, you may be depressed—but second off, this video of a little girl named Sienna getting dragged in circles by a merry-go-round will definitely resonate with you.

The video was uploaded onto YouTube by Sienna's father, NigelBroomhall.

Most children like to ride the animals on a roundabout. Not our daughter. Perhaps a future role as a zombie child in the Walking Dead awaits.

Here is the video in GIF form, which pairs well with any of these captions:

  • Me getting through the work week.
  • Me before I have my morning coffee.
  • Me on my morning commute.
  • Me getting through Friday before a holiday weekend.
  • Me sitting through my kid's recital.
  • Me getting out of bed.
  • Me trying to get things done while hungover.
  • Me after a workout.
  • Me while out with friends after 1am.
  • Me realizing that life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone.
  • Me getting the runaround from my cable company.
  • Me getting dragged into your drama.

Basically, this girl is me. She is you. She is all of us.

I hope you have a better Good Friday than Jesus did

Ivanka Trump tweeted about libraries and librarians everywhere were like, 'Shhhh.'

It's National Library Week, a time to celebrate these glorious institutions where you have unlimited access to knowledge and get to enjoy without buying. They're kind of like a Netflix for books.

First Daughter, White House staffer and human embodiment of a vanilla-scented candle Ivanka Trump sent out a tweet for the occasion.

But because Ivanka Trump is in an actual position to help librarians as Assistant (to the) President, people are asking her to put her policy where her tweets are.

Margaret Howard, a public librarian in Richmond, Virginia, went viral for pointing out that Ivanka Trump's empty gesture is just that: an empty gesture.

The #SaveIMLS hashtag refers to the campaign to keep federal funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services, which would be eliminated under President Donald Trump's budget.

Ivanka's Twitter mentions quickly became the place to rally for libraries and point out her hypocrisy .

"Knowledge, learning, and reading!" aren't things that Donald Trump, and his administration that Ivanka is a part of, particularly values.

If she truly values libraries, she has a unique way of saying thanks.
