CNN reporter sparks massive backlash after eating human brains on TV.

In the debut episode of new CNN series Believer, reporter Reza Aslan visited a small Hindu sect in India that practices cannibalism. During the segment, Aslan eats a piece of human brain on air.

The show has sparked an enormous backlash among Hindu Americans for "sensationalizing" Hinduism and spreading false beliefs about the religion by highlighting the customs of a very small, insular sect (fewer than 100 people).

Basically: the vast majority of Hindus do not eat brains, so people are understandably upset that a show meant to "explore" world religions would open with that. Especially during a time when xenophobia is heightened around the world.

“With multiple reports of hate-fueled attacks against people of Indian origin from across the U.S., the show characterizes Hinduism as cannibalistic, which is a bizarre way of looking at the third largest religion in the world,” said U.S. India Political Action Committees in a statement, Hindustan Times reports.

One of the people to speak out was Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard from Hawaii, who is Hindu. On Tuesday, she launched this tweetstorm which has since gone viral:

Many took to Twitter to express similar views and support Gabbard's statement.

Azar doesn't seem too bothered by the backlash. One might even suspect that he's enjoying it.

You can watch the brain-eating clip here, if you can stomach it.

Personally, brains are not MY ideal snack. But I had Cheez-Its for lunch. So who am I to judge?

A few guesses at what Starbucks' first-ever Spring cup designs are supposed to be.

Nothing makes sense these days. Including these:

What is this supposed to be? The roundest Easter egg I have ever seen? A full moon? A full moon in the sense that it's a very white butt? The void inside each of us that we spend our lives trying to appease? A subtle nod to fertility? A subtle nod to cotton balls? A subtle nod to white people? The sun, if you stare right at it on a hot summer day? A new Apple product that hasn't come out yet but probably will come with wireless headphones? The inverse of a black hole? Pinterest incarnate? The b-hole of a fancy person? An eyeball that has rolled back into a head so you can't see the pupils? A round-as-heck cloud? A pearl? A metaphor???

Why do we talk about things like the weather, traffic and the seasonal designs that Starbucks puts on their cups? Because sometimes you need a break from the Very Bad Things. Starbucks' Spring cups will be available in the U.S. and Canada starting on March 16, Buzzfeedreports. It looks like some of them come with additional Sharpie-style designs on them, too. Get one, or don't! Just listen to your heart. Now, back to your regularly scheduled program of Bad, streaming directly from the White House.

Watch this 4-year-old girl take flight when a strong gust of wind rolls in.

Madison Gardner was just a busy four-year-old with smartphone in hand, and a desire to get in the damn house, when the wind decided it had other plans. She trotted up the driveway of her home in Lyndhurst, Ohio, opened the door, and then a strong gust of wind sent her flying.

It sure is windy out there! 😂🍃 All I hear is "mommm!" So I looked back and she's pinned between the house and the glass door. She is okay and laughing along with it!

Posted by Brittany Gardner on Wednesday, March 8, 2017

Brittany Gardner, Madison's mom, said she looked up from the driveway only to see Madison "pinned against the siding and the glass door," CNNreports. "I had to unlatch her from the handle." And while Brittany told CNN that at first Madison felt embarrassed about the whole incident, "she was laughing after seeing the surveillance video herself."

Is Madison a superhero in the making? No, of course not. She is a fierce business woman who was desperately trying to get the client on the phone when the wind very inconveniently knocked her off course. Madison's mom also says she's "still looking at Disney princesses," but we know that's just for research on sexist "damsel in distress" storylines and how she'll overcome them. Don't let the wind stop you from shattering any glass ceilings, Madison!

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen finally settled their lawsuit with all those unpaid interns.

Remember the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen intern scandal of 2015? I barely do either, but ET reports that they've finally settled with all the interns who claim the Olsen twins never paid them, or paid them less than minimum wage.

When the claim was initially made in 2015, 40 past and present interns stepped forward to sue the Olsen's Dualstar Entertainment Group, which backs their fashion lines, in a class action lawsuit in New York Supreme Court. Since then, the number of interns who are eligible for the payout has increased to 185, and the settlement that was reached today requires the Olsens pay up to $140,000. Maybe that sounds like a lot to you, maybe it doesn't. But that sum means that Dualstar is required to pay each intern who claims and qualifies for compensation just $530, according to a preliminary document that was released last week.

Considering that most of these interns probably worked for the Olsens' company for weeks or months, it really doesn't seem like a big payout. One former intern who was a lead plaintiff in the case against the company said in court documents that she was working 50 hours per week doing "the work of three interns" and that she was talking with her boss "all day, all night."

I would love to see a list of what these interns buy with the $530 checks they'll be receiving now that they're two years older, smarter and wiser—and hopefully not taking unpaid internships anymore. I hope they do something more fun with it than buy overpriced mod-looking furniture from West Elm.

Interview goes completely off the rails when children march into BBC correspondent's office.

Appearing on BBC World News to analyze the extremely grave impeachment of South Korea's President, political scientist Robert E. Kelly was unexpectedly joined by two other experts.

The only problem being that these additional prodigies had nothing to do with South Korean politics. Their areas of expertise are dancing and pooping, respectively.

"I think one of your children just walked in," says the interviewer, helpfully.

"She's right behind me, isn't she?"
But wait, there's more!

Watch to the end of the video for a true superhero's entrance—a woman dashes in, slips, gathers the now screaming kids, and crawls back in to close the door.

Another successful day of WFH.

Amal Clooney spoke at the UN about ISIS, but the news only wanted to talk about her baby bump.

A human rights lawyer who happens to be married to some actor, Amal Clooney, gave a powerful speech at the United Nations on International Women's Day. While Clooney was delivering her remarks titled "The Fight against Impunity for Atrocities: Bringing Da'esh to Justice," in which she implored the world's diplomats not to let ISIS "get away with genocide," some people only saw her baby bump.

Other headlines include Mirror's "Amal Clooney is a vision in yellow as she shows off hint of baby bump in chic dress" and Entertainment Tonight's hot take, “Amal Clooney Stuns in Yellow While Delivering Passionate Speech at the United Nations.”

E! News's spin was "Amal Clooney Shows Baby Bump in What Could be the Ultimate International Women's Day Poster."

Twitter promptly asked publications to focus on what's important: she's literally talking about genocide.

She was discussing human rights, but I guess when you're pregnant, it's "showing off" you baby bump by default.

Apparently it's worse when you click.

Watch her powerful speech here, and try not to be distracted by the fact that she is with child.

Samuel L. Jackson agrees to 'take a seat' after being called out for comments about black British actors.

Out on the press tour for his new movie Kong: Skull Island, Samuel L. Jackson sparked a controversy with his comments on the casting of Jordan Peele's hit horror movie, Get Outand 2015 Oscar winner Selma. The leads inboth films, Daniel Kaluuya and David Oyelowo are British men. Jackson's comments on Get Out begin around the 25 minute mark.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1547&v=6r3NDSUZkhM

I know the young brother who's in the movie, and he's British. So, there are a lot of black British actors that work in this country. All the time. I tend to wonder what would that movie have been with an American brother who really understands that in a way. Because Daniel grew up in a country where they've been interracial dating for a hundred years... So what would a brother from America have made of that role? I'm sure the director helped. Some things are universal, but everything ain't. Which is one of the thing's about Selma, and some other things, you know, there are some brothers from America that could have been in that movie that would have had a different idea about how King thinks or how King felt...

When asked why black British actors got these roles, Jackson commented, laughing, "they're cheaper than us, for one thing. They don't cost as much... And they think they're better trained for some reason, than we are, because they're classically trained... Everybody needs to work, but there are a lot of brothers here that need to work, too."

The comments caused a stir on Twitter, with English actor John Boyega, known for his role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, calling it a "stupid ass conflict we don't have time for."

For his part, Get Out director Jordan Peele had admitted earlier in March to The Observer that, "I didn't want to go with a British actor," but a discussion with Daniel Kaluuya changed his mind. "Once I'd wrapped my head around how universal these themes were, it became easy for me to pick Daniel, because at the end of the day, he was the best person for the role."

Jackson subsequently clarified his comments to the AP, saying they were directed at Hollywood, not the actors themselves.

"It was not a slam against them, but it was just a comment about how Hollywood works in an interesting sort of way sometimes." According to the AP, "Jackson was complimentary of the skills and hard work black British performers put in to take on American roles, but he said that was a one-way street."

"We're not afforded that same luxury, but that's fine, we have plenty of opportunities to work," he said. "I enjoy their work. I enjoy working with them when I have the opportunity to do that."

But the controversy did not end there. According to Mashable, an "aspiring filmmaker" named Gloria Tafa discussed the issue in a thoughtful Facebook post—earning a response from Samuel L. Jackson himself.

Sorry, Samuel L. Jackson needs to take a seat on this one. Being bitter and attacking Black British actors who get cast...

Posted by Gloria Tafa on Thursday, March 9, 2017

Samuel L. Jackson's response was simple:

When I said we should get together, I thought you were more of a procrastinator

Kim Kardashian's new favorite spa treatment sounds uncomfortable.

Move over, Gwyneth Paltrow. There's a new celeb endorsing weird-sounding beauty routines. Kim Kardashian is apparently a fan of something called "facial cupping," as evidenced by this Snapchat:

According to E! News, facial cupping is an all-natural alternative to anti-aging procedures like facelifts, lasers, and chemicals.

"The cupping facial encourages blood flow to the tissue and stimulates the lymphatic system to help reduce inflammation, which in turn smoothes fine lines and wrinkles," Kim Kardashian's skin care expert, Nurse Jamie, explained to E!.

So how does it work? Cups of different sizes are placed on different areas of the face. Skin gets drawn into the cup, creating a vacuum-like effect. This supposedly relaxes muscles and makes skin fuller and plumper. Unlike body cupping (the hottest fad at the 2016 Olympics), facial cupping doesn't typically cause bruising because it tends to be much gentler.

"It kind of feels like a cat licking you," Nurse Jamie says. (I would hate this. Cat tongues are so weird, guys.)

Sounds a bit strange, but hey. The Kardashian/Jenner clan know their beauty rituals.

News team turns traffic report into cringe-inducing Biggie tribute.

An Atlanta news team decided to honor the 20th anniversary of the death of the Notorious B.I.G. on Thursday by including lyrics from his songs into their traffic report. And if you think that sounds forced, wait until you see it, because, yes, it's very forced.

The traffic report manages to work in lyrics from Biggie songs like "Juicy" and "Hypnotize."

Ouch. If you don't know, now ya know. But I bet you wish you didn't know.

RIP Biggie.

Nobody can agree on how many nuns are in this photo.

Britain'sITV shared a photo captured by commuters of a gaggle of nuns chillin' at London's Seven Sisters tube station. The serendipity of seven sisters at Seven Sisters seemed too good to be true—probably because it is.

An eagle-eyed viewer insisted that there is an extra nun hiding in their midst.

Publications couldn't help but run with the headline, prompting a great debate.

Twitter drew attention to the hidden nun—and wondered if there was an even more hidden sister out of the frame.

But, just because there might be eight (or nine!) nuns, it doesn't make the "Seven sisters at Seven Sisters" thesis untrue.

But the hidden bonus nun(s) have people fearing for their ninja-like abilities to elude vision.

Could you trust somebody who couldn't see the Nun #8's shoulder? Even worse, what if they didn't care?

Don't get in the habit of ignoring the hidden nuns.

Company responds to complaints that its new ad is sexist by getting sarcastic on Twitter.

On March 8, International Women's Day, a woman on Twitter using the handle @edvigeb tweeted a picture of a print advertisement she'd seen from a company in England called USPAAH. The ad shows a picture of a man looking contrite, with the accompanying copy reading,"Out with the guys 'til 4 AM again…?! Keep her sweet with a spa mani/pedi at home."

The woman included her own commentary along with the picture of the ad. Finding the ad sexist, she tweeted, "And this is one of the reasons why today ppl are marching, striking, protesting! @USPAAH #saveyourself from misogyny! #epicfail #IWD2017."

But instead of an apology or even an explanation from USPAAH, what she received was a snarky response from the company on Twitter. Replying to her tweet, USPAAH wrote, "yes, yes how very dare [sic] one partner in a relationship buy the other a gift to say sorry?! Get us to the protest right now!"

That, in case you missed it, is a pretty heavy dose of sarcasm.

But the woman wasn't giving up. She tweeted to the company again, this time explaining her stance. She wrote, "My point is that this ad seems to be based on the assumption that a lot of women would relate to this situation."

And the Twitter user named @edvigeb wasn't the only one who took offense at the ad. A woman by the name of Milly Thomas also found the ad to be sexist, tweeting a picture of the ad with the words, "Hey @USPAAH I found this advert pretty gross and unnecessary. Might you consider changing it for something more inclusive?"

Then someone named Poppy Corbett chimed in with a tweet reading, "The ad implies she's stupid & can be bought off. Just look at his patronising face! Won't be using this company."

Others added their two cents on Twitter as well, making it clear that a good number of people found the ad sexist.

The company was still not ready to see things from the women's point of view, tweeting back at Corbett, "How interesting that you think if one receives a gift, they're "stupid". Must stop gift giving worldwide ASAP. #BanXmas too?"

But after being called "unprofessional and disingenuous," the customer service team at USPAAH decided to drop the snark and just address the complaints. In response to Edvige's tweet suggesting that they take feedback into consideration, USPAAH wrote, "thank you. It is honestly appreciated."

Well, now. That's all they had to say in the first place! Sarcasm is best left to Twitter users who aren't an actual company, mocking potential clients.

Sorry I bullied you into getting dessert.

Melania Trump dishes on her sex life with Donald in horrifying resurfaced interview from 1999.

We've already learned way more than we ever wanted to know about Donald Trump thanks to his frequent appearances on Howard Stern's show in the '90s and early '00s.

And you're about to learn a lot more.

In a resurfaced interview from 1999, Trump appeared on Stern's radio show to discuss his campaign for president, which few took seriously at the time (much like when he ran last year). After some banter, things quickly got PG-13 when Stern asked Trump to put his then-girlfriend Melania on the phone.

Then, in an exchange that is even misogynist by Howard Stern standards, the radio host asks her what she's wearing ("not much" she replied) and if she's nude ("almost"). He then asks if she goes to Trump’s apartment every night to have sex and she says yes, then adds “even more."

He then grills her on her sex life with Donald and makes a lot of unnecessary comments on her body, like "you have a big chest for a model" while Donald chuckles in the background.

If you haven't yet run screaming from your computer in horror, you can listen to the whole interview here:

This is pretty bad. Sure, it's not "grab them by the pussy" bad. But if those are the standards we're holding our president too, we're in big trouble.

Poor Melania. Poor all of us.

Congress is finally criticizing Trump's ethics. Over his tweets.

Tweeting is one of Donald Trump's favorite pastimes, and that didn't change after he became president. In fact, now he's got two Twitter accounts, his regular one at @realDonaldTrump as well as the official @POTUS one. Occasionally he deletes tweets, usually due to misspellings, since the man seems hell-bent on not using spell-check. But this week two congressmen warned that, in his case, deleting tweets could now be illegal, according to the Huffington Post.

On Wednesday, Reps. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), chairman and ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, sent a letter to the White House warning them to get it together when it comes to their record keeping and their "nontransparent use of social media."

The letter stated that Trump deleting tweets “could pose a violation to the Presidential Records Act” if the White House administration is not also archiving the original tweets, misspellings and all. This goes for both of Donald Trump's accounts, @realDonaldTrump and @POTUS.

The letter explained:

Many of the messages sent from these accounts are likely to be presidential records and therefore must be preserved. It has been reported, however, that President Trump has deleted tweets, and if those tweets were not archived, it could pose a violation of the Presidential Records Act.

You know, after going after Hillary "Email Server" Clinton so hard, you'd think that Donald Trump's team would be bending over backward to make sure they did everything by the book. Well, that's if you had no knowledge of Trump's team. Given what we actually do know about his administration, this isn't surprising in the least.

And hey, Donny—spell-check. Seriously. Look into it.

Email mixup helps man learn what it's really like to be a woman in the workplace.

What's in a name? Writer Martin R. Schneider learned that a man by any other name gets treated just as poorly as a woman does.

In a long, juicy Twitter thread that would make a good movie, Schneider writes out how an email mixup with his coworker Nicole Hallberg got him to understand the sexism that women experience in the workplace.

The thread has gone viral, and Nicole Hallberg reflected on her experience with the gender flip on Medium.

Hallberg had been getting sexist sh*t from both her boss and her clients throughout the job. The aforementioned "efficiency-fetishizing gig economy-loving douchebag" described Martin to her as "a good writer, but he tends to get over emotional about things and let that get in the way of his writing. He’s kind of a girl like that." Oof.

Hallberg elaborates on the boss's refusal to accept that sexism is a thing:

He didn’t believe us. He actually said “There are a thousand reasons why the clients could have reacted differently that way. It could be the work, the performance… you have no way of knowing."

"But I will always wonder. What did my boss have to gain by refusing to believe that sexism exists?" She writes, "Even when the evidence is screaming at him, even when his employee who makes him an awful lot of money is telling him, even when THE BOY on staff is telling him??"

Sometimes, it doesn't take until someone is on the receiving end of such nonsense for them to understand it. I hereby condemn that boss to at least a week of emailing with a woman's name.

I'd love to hang out with you if I was a more social person.

Food Network show, The Pioneer Woman, has come under fire after a clip from its second season resurfaced recently. The clip features chef Ree Drummond making a joke about Asian food that many are deeming racist.

In the clip, Drummond "pranks" her friends and family by presenting a tray of Asian-style chicken wings. Everyone seems shocked and appalled that she is serving Asian food.

"Where are the real wings?" questions one man. "I don't trust them," declares another.

But surprise! Drummond was only kidding. She pulls the tray of "real" chicken wings (with buffalo sauce) out of the oven. "I'm just kidding guys, I wouldn't do that to you," she says.

Um, what?

Needless to say, folks on Twitter aren't too happy.

Hey, The Pioneer Woman. Everyone's food is real food, okay? Cool.
