Here's an award-winning PSA about diversity, if you didn't cry all your happy tears during Pride already.

This commercial won four Cannes Lions and also my sobs.

There are so many things about this that should be so treacly sweet your teeth fall out watching it, but it just works. First of all, the song they use is "Same Love," which I've always hated. Comedian Joe Mande gave a pretty funny interview at The AV Club about why it is terrible, which always makes me laugh:

Another problematic part of the song is that, for being this anthem, he spends the first third of the song reiterating how straight he is. Like when he was a kid, he was worried that he was gay because he liked to draw, which isn't even a stereotype. If a kid uses crayons, you better watch out, M.C. Escher. That's not a thing. “And then my mom told me that I loved getting pussy in pre-K," or whatever, but he has to keep stressing how straight he is.

Yes! I hate this song. But they cut out all the Ryan Lewis parts, so that helps.

Then, though the message that we're all the same underneath is beautiful, watching skeletons goofily dance is pretty corny. I kind of got it after the first round and was like, huh, this video is two and half minutes long? Then these two cuties come out:

Love them!

My niece has Down syndrome and she's very loved. I can't tell you how frustrating it is that people still think it's cool to casually use the word "retarded" when describing their fish sandwich or something. Anyway, this is when they finally broke through the shiny veneer of cynicism in which I have encased my heart. What did it do for you?

The boldest, most impressive looks from Gay Pride parades all over the country.

We can all learn a lesson in the use of color palettes from Gay Pride fashion.

Today's amazing #gayprideparade !

Gay Pride parades all over the country were extra exciting this year, and the costumes reflected the participants' jubilation. The news of the Supreme Court's legalization of gay marriage made all the rainbows brighter, the glitter shinier, and feathers featherier (new word?) The best catwalk in the fashion industry pales in comparison to the stellar costuming we get to experience at Gay Pride.

For your viewing pleasure, here are the finest looks I had time to find:

Kate Hudson's dad disowned her and her brother because of an Instagram post.

I don't have kids, but is it considered good parenting to tell your children they are dead to you through the press?

Kate and Oliver Hudson being attractive and successful siblings. (via Getty)

That's what Kate Hudson's amazing dad did. He should start a blog about being a father.

Apparently he was so, so mad because of a photo that Kate's brother, Oliver, posted on Instagram on Father's Day. It was an adorable childhood picture of little Kate, Oliver, and their loving, role model dad, Bill. Oliver tagged Kate and captioned it "Happy abandonment day..."

Happy abandonment day... @katehudson

A photo posted by Oliver Hudson (@theoliverhudson) on

Bill divorced the siblings' mom, Goldie Hawn, when they were little, and they consider their stepdad, Kurt Russell, to be their real dad. But Bill told the Daily Mail he understands that divorce can be complicated for young children, and ultimately he just has his kids' best interests at heart:

"I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognise Oliver and Kate as my own. I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name. They are no longer a part of my life. Oliver's Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack. He is dead to me now. As is Kate. I am mourning their loss even though they are still walking this earth."

Touching. According to an anonymous Us Weekly source who is friends with Kate (Matthew McConaughey???), Bill has acted like this forever, so Kate and Oliver are pretty chill about the whole thing.

"They don't care and are not surprised by this. It's been this way, and he's been saying this stuff forever."

The Hawn-Russell-Hudson crew is too busy being famous and loving to deal with public disownings.

In the end, Kate and Oliver are coming out of this story looking much better than their dad. Like, way better. I mean they look good, right? Hot family!

Madonna appreciates good dick. She fears good dick. She is imprisoned by good dick. Maybe? This message seems straightforward on its surface, but the more you analyze it, the more likely you are to fall down a rabbit hole of scrolling through Madonna's Instagram account. I got totally sucked in searching for clues about what she could mean, and though it's mostly photos of her face, I started to put together a clearer picture. A dick pic, if you will.

Here are a few sample dick-owners/dick-wardens she might be referring to:

Jordan Watson documented the various styles for your convenience.

Being a parent is hard work, but some people make it look easy. If you had only ever seen Jordan Watson's video, you'd think that holding a baby was as simple as holding a box of beers, and just as much fun.

In reality, holding a baby requires a lot of care. I'm sure Watson knows that, but the snappy editing of his video doesn't show all the planning involved. Then again, it's still the best resource for learning how to show off your Superman baby to other dads.

Is there anything he can('t) do?

Sure, we all know that Shia LaBeouf excels at motivational speaking. And he's obviously great at harassing homeless people. And he's surprisingly decent at sitting in a small room, being theatrically sorry and crying. But can he freestyle rap? That's truly the question, isn't it?

After watching the video above, I've come to my own conclusion, but I think that you should watch it and decide for yourself.

Be forewarned, though. The answer you come up with might say more about you than it does about Shia LaBeouf.

If you're jealous of anyone who has the internal rhythm paired with the outward confidence to dance in public, the video below is about to make you very jealous. Nikki told BuzzFeed she had originally made the video for her husband, but then it went bonkers on Facebook. Currently, it has amassed a cool 18 million views since she posted it on June 26th.

The best part is when Jaylyn says into the camera before the song starts, "My mom is gonna rock it. But don't laugh at her!" Don't worry Jaylyn, we are NOT laughing at your mom, we are laughing at ourselves because we wish we could dance like you two bosses.

Michael Douglas regrets saying Catherine Zeta-Jones' genitals are a carcinogen.

"I was trying to make a public service comment," says man who inadvertently made a public service announcement about discussing your wife's Kitty Zeta-Jina in public.

"You're going to go on a public apology tour, Michael." "For how long?" "Until something stronger than throat cancer comes to get you."(Getty)

You may recall when we almost lost beloved accomplished star of stage and screen Michael Douglas to throat cancer back in 2013. He famously went on Letterman to tell the world the disease had progressed to stage four, with stage five being the end. They were scary times, and as he visibly weakened, we feared for the worst. Then, he got better, and gave a triumphant interview declaring himself "back with a vengeance" from the cancer he got from eating out his wife's HPV-laden vagina.

Yuuuup.

From his infamous Guardianinterview:

No," he says. "No. Because, without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV [human papillomavirus], which actually comes about from cunnilingus."
From what? For a moment I think that I may have misheard.
"From cunnilingus. I mean, I did worry if the stress caused by my son's incarceration didn't help trigger it. But yeah, it's a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer." He shrugs. "And if you have it, cunnilingus is also the best cure for it."

TL; DR: It was either my wife's diseased gennies or the screwed-up son who issued forth from them, but one of them gave me cancer.

I'm not even going to touch the "and it's also the cure!" part, because I can't detect any background logic for that. I think he just meant that since he was going out anyway, he was going to go out the way he wanted: going down.

And just like that, with the mention of a virus that the majority of the population carries with them in a dormant state, Catherine Zeta-Jones plummeted down the immature mental lists of fantasizers everywhere. People often forgot that Douglas spent decades as an avid drinker and smoker, two things much more well-known for their throat-damaging properties than Zetalingus.

His marriage did enter a rocky time after that (shocking), resulting in a period of separation, but perhaps because he made the statements in the heated euphoria of just having cheated death, the two are apparently on good terms again. And he'd like to keep it that way, as well as to warn people of the more general risks of the papilloma virus, and to encourage girls to get vaccinated.

Here's what he told the Daily Mail:

'What I was trying to say was that there is a sexually transmitted virus called HPC...But there is a vaccination that they recommend to all kids before they become sexually active so they don't catch HPC, which is a cause of certain types of cancer – cervical cancer, tongue and throat.'
So he didn't imply that performing oral sex could cure certain types of cancer?
'No,' he groans, anguished by the notion. 'I was trying to make a public service comment.'
And presumably it caused a certain discomfort over the Douglas breakfast table. A telling flash of pain flickers across his features.
'It was one of those things... and I so regretted any embarrassment that it caused Catherine,' he winces, before adding: 'And her family.'

Ohhhh right. That horrible feeling when you remember "Oh, right, my wife is a human being with relatives. WHOOPS." Well, I'm still glad you're alive, Michael. I think everyone should be allowed the gaffe of a lifetime when they cheat death. Just don't do it again unless you've just sweated your way through Ebola or something.

And do get your kids, especially young women, vaccinated so they don't get cervical cancer. As much as it pains me to say this, Michael Douglas was right. K thx bye.

Rob Lowe got in a bizarre Twitter fight with a writer.

Guess what Rob Lowe got in a Twitter fight about? Did you guess "the Greek financial crisis"?

So, yes, we do have to note that the first strange thing that happened in this series of Internet events was Rob Lowe tweeting about the Greek financial crisis. Even if he actually was his West Wing character, White House staffer Sam Seaborn, which he unfortunately is not, that would be a bit of an overstep.

The next baffling thing that happened was that Guardian columnist Owen Jones decided to use Lowe's tweet as the set-up to a generic burn.

I wonder how long he was holding that in.

Now, you would think Lowe wouldn't engage with Internet critics, especially since there was a West Wing episode that taught not to do this!

But he decided to respond.

Uh oh, Lowe. First of all, that use of "pal" was downright Sorkin-esque. Second of all, earnestly defending yourself by listing accolades doesn't usually help calm down Twitter haters. But in this case, somehow, it did.

And that was that.

So what did we learn here today regarding international economics, Internet communication, and celebrity? I would happily say: nothing.

Stephen Colbert does 20 remarkably impressive "push-ups" for U.S. veterans.

$

0

Wow! I'm almost inclined to believe there's some kind of chicanery involved here.

In this week leading up to America's Independence Day, many celebrities are dropping to the ground and doing twenty push-ups to show their support for the veterans of the United States military before challenging fellow celebrities to do the same. It's all part of an online campaign called #GiveThem20. I'm not sure how many celebrity push-ups the Department of Defense has collected so far, but judging by the official website, it's got to be in the thousands. (I hope these push-ups are being distributed to the troops themselves and aren't being hoarded for the top brass or to create some kind of push-up-fueled fighter jet.)

Anyway, Stephen Colbert was challenged to join in by his old Daily Show co-worker John Oliver. True to form, though, he couldn't just do twenty regular push-ups. He really pulled out the stops and delivered twenty of the most mind-blowingly difficult push-ups you've ever seen. I mean, seriously, you've got to see this to believe it. This guy never fails to impress.

And if you (for whatever reason) suspect Colbert somehow skimped out on his responsibilities, keep in mind that Colbert is a proud supporter of the Yellow Ribbon Fund and once performed his show live from for a whole week to entertain the troops.

Kanye West covers Bohemian Rhapsody at British music festival.

Yet another reason to bow down to the almighty Yeezus.

When it was announced that Kanye West was headlining the Glastonbury Festival—a British music festival predominately featuring rock groups—a lot of people were pissed. They wanted someone with a "better attitude" who was strictly a rock performer. So many people were pissed, in fact, a petition calling for Kanye's removal as headliner garnered over 130,000 signatures. Needless to say, Yeezy was up against a lot when he walked on that stage.

Kanye did what he always does, though. He stuck his middle finger up to the haters in a brilliant act of defiance. He performed the most rock-ety rock song known to man: Bohemian Rhapsody (He also declared himself "the greatest living rock star on the planet," but that's a different story).

Some people (including Adam Lambert) made fun of Kanye's singing voice. They are missing the point, though. It's not about whether or not Kanye sang well. Kanye himself even admitted that he can't sing in a Rolling Stone interview a few years back:

"I like to bring up the fact that I can't sing, dance or play an instrument, but somehow I made it to the mountaintop of music."

It's about the gesture of going this arena rock show where the odds are stacked against you and laughing in the face of antiquated ideas about rock stardom. Anyone who actually pays attention to Kanye's music will understand that his work has always transcended traditional genre boundaries. Kanye has even collaborated with Paul McCartney, literally the biggest rock star alive. The people bemoaning their beloved traditional "rock stars" need to stop clinging to old ideas. Hats off to you, Kanye. I'll hurry up with your damn croissant any day of the week.

Man writes (bad) joke Craigslist ad to give away girlfriend to new forever home.

Hack joke nearly ruins man's relationship.

video platformvideo managementvideo solutions

A merry prankster posted an ad on Craigslist, seemingly trying to give away his girlfriend who hates his dog:

“Free to any willing home. ... My girlfriend does not like my Beagle Molly so I have to rehome her. ... She is a purebred from a wealthy area and I have had her 4 years. She likes to play games. Not totally trained. ... Anyone interested in my 30 year old, selfish, wicked, gold-digging girlfriend? Come and get her! Me and my dog want her re-homed ASAP!!"

Ha ha! Women treated like unwanted dogs! Honestly, this gag has been around for centuries. Act like you're selling something because your partner hates it, then sell your partner. It's great for a couple of yuks if you blame women for your life problems.

The post was written by Willy Byers of Vinton, Virginia. Byers says the post was something he wrote as a gag in about 3 minutes. Who knows why. Maybe all his chores were done and he had literally nothing else to do? The whole thing was a goof. Byers doesn't even have a beagle. He has a pit bull. He also has a girlfriend.

The now-deleted Craigslist post went viral quickly, and Byers's girlfriend Stormie Wills was upset at being put up for adoption on Craigslist. Wills soon realized that the ad was completely fictional, but I have to imagine that she was probably still upset about how it all looked.

Byers took to the internet to clarify that the entire post was fiction. The couple affirmed they are both in love and proud pet owners to boot. Boy, it's getting to a point that you can't subjugate women for an anonymous jape anymore!

Thanks to one mother's thoughtfulness, this autistic boy can go to his first-ever birthday party.

Tricia Rhynold shared this touching invitation her son Timothy received from a total stranger.

Tricia Rhynold and Timothy(via Facebook)

Being a parent to an autistic child is difficult and frustrating, but not always for the reasons you'd think. Often, dealing with other children and their parents can be just as much of a struggle as managing their own kids' needs. Most people don't understand autism very well, and you can hardly blame them. It was only recently that scientists even began to understand it. It's actually really hard to understand.

That's why, until recently, Tricia Rhynold had to turn down every birthday party invitation her seven-year-old son Timothy received. It broke her heart, but Tricia knew it was for the best. Timothy is severly autistic and nonverbal, subject to frequent outbursts. She knew that the risk of taking him to a party was too great. She wrote on her blog, The Book of Timothy:

I wonder if the parents know what would happen if I brought Timothy? The interruptions....the meltdowns.....how I would hate to take the spotlight from the birthday child.

Although she was grateful for the invitations, she always politely declined. That is, until the day this one came in the mail:

Now that's a great mom.(via The Book of Timothy)

Here's the full text:

"Carter sat beside Timothy at school and he always talks about him. I really hope he can come. We are renting a bounce castle that we can attach a small bounce slide at the bottom. We will also have water balloons and water guns. Maybe Timothy can come earlier in the day if it would be too much with the whole class. Let me know how we can make it work."

Tricia didn't know this mom, but she was deeply moved by the letter. This stranger didn't presume to know how to deal with Timothy – she just wanted to learn. She was willing to put in the effort to "make it work." As Tricia said on her blog:

I don't know this Mom or even this child personally. I want to. Desperately.

This Mom wrote exactly what I needed to see that day and didn't even know it.

This Mom gives me hope for Timothy's future when sometimes I get stuck in the darkness of his diagnosis.

This Mom is everything I strive to be.

This Mom rocks.

This ------>(ME) Mom will be RSVPing a HELL YES for the first time ever. And I can't wait.

This is really nice to see. Too often, families with autism are forced to pay the price of everyone else's ignorance. Nobody is pretending that severely autistic people, particularly children, are easy to handle in public, but considering the prevalence of the disorder, it's something everyone will have to get used to. But when they do, it means that kids like Timothy will get to have something that wouldn't have been possible in the past: friends.
