11 pregnant celebrities who turned their unborn children into fashion opportunities.

Anyone who has read the literature on pregnancy—Chrissy Teigen's hilarious preg tweets and Kim Kardashian's surprisingly candid essay—knows that everyone has their own unique pre-baby experience. Pregnancy can be a magical time. Or a stressful time. Or a barfing time. Or a chance to make people jealous of your on-point maternity style. Here are 11 celebs who somehow used their time with a baby literally setting up camp inside their bodies as an opportunity to look really, really cool.

1. Rachel Bilson

https://twitter.com/UltratressExt/status/520291862360621056

Last year, the pregnant actress and former O.C. star pulled off 90s-style loose black overalls while also nurturing a life in her womb.

2. Molly Sims

https://instagram.com/p/ykD7pdA8Nc/

Model Molly Sims paired a badass leather jacket with growing a human being inside her stomach.

3. Rose Byrne

https://twitter.com/CelebritiesWRLD/status/658063570014343168

Byrne, who's currently preparing a child to be alive in the world, went full-on grunge last month in a plaid dress.

4. Drew Barrymore

In 2014, while protecting her yet-to-be-born daughter with her body's natural abilities, the actress dressed in a super casual flower sweatshirt to sing a duet with Adam Sandler on The Tonight Show.

5. Chrissy Teigen

https://instagram.com/p/8_CUaFJjd1/

The model wore a slinky black dress and fuzzy jacket in this photo from two weeks ago that got such nosy responses she vowed to (but thankfully didn't actually) stop "preg tweeting."

6. Olivia Wilde

https://twitter.com/mybabyace/status/447644750661681152

Last spring, the actress wore a quirky sweater featuring a classic glasses-and-mustache disguise, but astute viewers will notice there's definitely a growing person under there.

7. Blake Lively

In 2014 Lively rocked a memorable skintight lemon gown that accentuated the literal baby inside of her stomach.

9. Zoe Saldana

https://instagram.com/p/toqjOFIp3M/

The actress went for loose, bright fabrics while stewing (as doctors say) twins last year.

10. Kelly Clarkson

https://instagram.com/p/7G9DwRozrF/

The singer was on tour wearing her sparkly show outfits night after night this summer while secretly many weeks preggo, until she finally announced the news in the middle of a song.

10. Scarlett Johansson

https://twitter.com/warmsleepy/status/513783610542149632

Johansson, a pregnant actress overalls contemporary of Rachel Bilson, wore fashion maternity dungarees (that probably cost a ton of money and are softer than pillows) in summer 2014.

11. Kim Kardashian

https://instagram.com/p/9q0-tUuSyL/https://instagram.com/p/7x3KqwuSwf/https://instagram.com/p/9YtFjhOS7z/

Kim K. has been refreshingly upfront about how much she hates being pregnant, but she remains the undisputed international leader of wearing hot outfits while carrying around a baby in her bod.

The cast of the 'Hunger Games’ competed in a deadly battle to get into this goodbye selfie.

The final film of the Hunger Games series had its premiere, and though fans still have the release to look forward to, it was probably a bittersweet moment for the cast and crew. A lot of them were sharing pics and tweeting about it, for example Elizabeth Banks showing Taylor Swift how it's done:

https://twitter.com/ElizabethBanks/status/662409598775595008?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

Then Sam Claflin, who plays sexy trident stabber Finnick Odair, posted this very cute selfie of as much of the cast as could fit in the shot:

https://instagram.com/p/9tysWApumj/

Luckily, everything celebrities do is well documented, so he had this follow up photo of the selfie taken from someone who got left out's perspective:

Hopefully, we'll be seeing all these folks again real soon. At the very least, we'll be seeing Jennifer Lawrence in a movie with Amy Schumer and no boyz.

Teacher gets adorable proposal she can't refuse from her boyfriend and her elementary students.

In an elaborate scheme to both propose to his now-fiancée and give the kids extra recess, Justin Coats (A.K.A. DJ J-Krisp) enlisted the help of Mandy Toombs' students to make his proposal special. Justin got both teachers and students at South Boston Elementary School to participate in a proposal video. Then he arranged for Mandy watch it in front of her classroom, and had some students bring in a banner reading, "Ms. Toombs, Will You Be Mrs. Coats?" The fact that the kids were in on the proposal will make it easier for her to adjust to the name change.

Spoiler alert: She says yes. They don't kiss, because that would be too risqué in front of the children, but they do embrace and teach the kids a thing or two about love.

A pregnant mom got a lot of flack when a video of her hip-hop dancing went viral.

A mother of two with one more on the way, Christina Litle, has been getting a lot of bizarre feedback on a video she made of herself dancing to some of her own choreography. She'd created it for the local high school to be danced at a game at Memorial Stadium in Napa. She keeps up pretty impressively in the video, though there are some squats she avoids for obvious reasons. She's 27 weeks pregnant:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-P12vfN7BE

Cute! Or is it?! A lot of commenters think not, wrongly suggesting she's making her baby's brain into a scrambled omelette with all those bump and grinds. Christina eventually posted this in the YouTube description for everyone worrying about it:

Let me preface this video with, I've danced my whole life, and it is COMPLETELY safe to maintain the level of activity your body is used to while pregnant. I'm not hurting my baby...the baby is not getting "Shaken baby syndrome" and no...the child is not experiencing whiplash. For those who insist they "know" I was in pain doing this and hurting myself, this didn't "hurt" in the least and I wasn't "injured" after doing this dance. This is my third baby, and I taught dance up to nearly delivering with both of my daughters. They came out healthy and perfect. I do what I know my body can handle. I'm pregnant...not disabled. I encourage all women to remain active during their pregnancies...it only benefits you and your baby more and more! STAY HEALTHY! HAVE FUN!

According to the Napa Valley Register, Christina expected some negativity when she posted the video. It is the Internet, after all. And people have been largely positive, though they report she's gotten some negative comments. One charming example: "Now that is what you call white trash. 28 with two kids, teaching dance at a high school to make a few extra bucks while pregnant with the third on the way and videotaping it. I guess I better keep on working because people like this are depending on me."

Of course, the more divisive you are, the more people want to talk about you. And it looks like the attention Christina is getting from her video is ultimately helping her career as a choreographer:

A man suffering from a terminal form of cancer had his dying wish to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens granted. Daniel Fleetwood is a 31-year-old Star Wars fan from Texas who has "an aggressive form of cancer that's spread to 90% of his lungs."

Daniel with the film poster.

He was told he only had a month or two to live, so his family started a social media campaign called #ForceForDaniel, petitioning to Disney to let him see the film before it comes out.

After gaining some traction from online supporters, his wife Ashley announced yesterday that Daniel's wish was granted:

It made a bunch of Star Wars fans happy, including Mark Hamill:

Here’s the first evidence that Kim Kardashian’s son is going to be a mini Kanye.

Kim Kardashian is currently pregnant, and her yet-to-be-born son already has more Instagram game than most adults. From his first nude selfie to the photo announcement of his sex to his A-list shower, this baby has been racking up social media attention like a true Kardashian. And now, courtesy of his mom, we have his first expensive fashion Instagram.

Sorry but none of our parents looked this cool when they were expecting us.

Yesterday, Kim K. shared a photo of matching gold and diamond chains for Kanye and the baby (who, come on, is probably going to be named Easton, right?).

If you look carefully at the photo, you might notice that one of the chains is smaller in size. That's what jewelers refer to as a "little baby chain."

Frustrated black student gives heartbreakingly honest answers to 'Family Origins’ assignment.

A sixth grade student from Seattle is going viral for her honest, indignant answers to a misguided school assignment on "Family Origins." Asked a variety of questions about how her ancestors came to America, the African-American girl pointed out how tone-deaf the ditto was by answering matter-of-factly about the horrors of slavery. And she didn't sugar-coat it at all.

The girl's mother, "Brandy with a Y" on Twitter, proudly shared an image of the worksheet along with the message: "I found it. LMFAO! Can y'all sense how fed up my daughter was with this assignment?" Reading the responses, it's not difficult to sense at all.

https://twitter.com/BtSquared2/status/659026434934087681?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

1. Where did your family immigrate from? Africa

2. When did they immigrate? Whenever the slave owners took them

3. Why did they immigrate? Because the white man wanted free labor

4. Who did they immigrate with? Other slaves

5. Did they know anybody here before they came? No, because they were stolen

6. What was life like when they first came here to live? Horrible

7. Do you still have family where they came from? I don't know

8. Why is it important to know your family history? So that you know traditions and family values

Vox reached out to Brandy with a Y to comment on her daughter's answers. From what she wrote, it seems like being a keen observer of American history runs in the family:

Her hesitation was in the way the assignment was worded. It suggested the students "go back as far as you can," but continually referred to "immigrants." That immediately made her think of relatives/ancestors that came to America from another country. And for us that would obviously be west Africa. Of course we know the history of how today's African American came to be in America and I find it to be one of America's dirty little secrets and this assignment is proof positive of that.

The general assumption is made that everyone has some grand success story of families leaving their home country and coming to America in search of better opportunities. But the simple and plain truth is that not all of us have this story to tell and the ability to trace one's ancestry is a privilege within itself — one that most if not all black Americans do not have.

If the school system can be this oblivious to the horrors of American history, everybody clearly needs to be hit over the head with reminders like these. Luckily, there are sardonic teenagers to do it.

Little boy won't stop screaming 'I love you, daddy' when his dad leaves for work.

A grieving woman tweeted a complaint about men telling her to smile and it escalated very quickly.

A woman named Nora McInerny Purmort was working at a booth for a non-profit she founded to honor her late husband, who died of brain cancer about a year ago. After a pretty emotional day she she definitely wasn't smiling when a strange man approached her. She wrote about what happened next on Medium:

A few weeks ago I had an incredibly condescending and offensive experience wherein a very drunk man approached me to tell me I should smile. He clearly thought it was a way to flirt with me. You know, hey, I’ve been watching you (his opening line, not in any way unsettling for a woman to hear) and you should smile. You just don’t look very nice when you’re not smiling.

For context: I was manning the Still Kickin booth, hugging strangers and friends every ten seconds and crying with people over their dead people and my dead husband.

Here's the tweet she sent out later to blow off some of the steam she was feeling after this encounter:

https://twitter.com/noraborealis/status/658115187862577153?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

Most tweets are just screams into the void and should die a silent death there. This one, however, was found by some very dedicated misogynists. Stop Telling Women to Smile is actually a campaign that is pretty searchable, because men telling ladies they don't know what to do with their face is a common phenomenon. One Twitter user was probably looking for mentions of it, or for Twitter bios that say "feminist," to retweet to his 15k angry followers. He did, and she started getting some pretty nasty responses:

After her account got flooded with mentions and threatening DMs, Nora wasn't exactly sure what to do. Eventually she posted this message to Facebook, including photos of one of her most abusive trolls, essentially doxxing him to the Internet.

Let me preface this by saying: the world and the internet can be wonderful and terrible, and sometimes it’s easier to...

Posted by Nora McInerny Purmort on Wednesday, November 4, 2015

It's long, but her basic message to this guy who thinks rape is an appropriate reaction to a frown is this:

I don’t know who this guy is, and I bet he’s got a mother who loves him and he is kind to some people and pays his taxes on time. I don’t know what happens to people to make them this way, I just know that women deserve better and that there are rules:

You don’t get to make me lock my account.
You don’t get to make me afraid.
You don’t get to hide behind a pseudonym when you post selfies, talk about rape and use the N word freely.

*Smile.*

And now she's just waiting to see what happens:

Is this Walmart display racist or just dumb?

Shoppers at a Walmart in North Las Vegas had an enraging shopping experience, and not just because they were at a Walmart in North Las Vegas.

Some human, who is possibly racist but probably just ridiculously ignorant, hung clothes from the ceiling, which many saw as evocative of people hanging.

Oh no.

Reporter Michael Burton took a picture and polled people on the street, asking them what they saw.

One man saw, “four black items hanging from the ceiling as if they were four black people."

A woman thought the display looked "a little like the Ku Klux Klan, black people hanging from the ceiling." Another person thought it was "mannequins of people hanging from the top of the roof.”

The display has been taken down, but the Walmart people have yet to respond or apologize.
