Getting one's first period is a huge moment in a woman's life. It's also huge for parents who have to reckon with the fact that their baby is almost an adult now who they could have babies of her own.
@Autumn1Shea's family had a celebration for her younger sister, Brooke, in honor of the bloody exciting milestone.

Real life: I took this photo 8 days post birth. I left the hospital looking 5 months pregnant. Many people think a woman should shrink right back to her pre-birth weight immediately. That is just not the truth for most. The female body is incredible and resilient, but healing and strengthening take time. Now it's time for patience and hard work. Lots of love to all the new mamas out there on the journey. #yesihaveascrunchieinmyhair#shaiiswortheverypound
Best wishes to this inspiring mom and her growing family.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are definitely in the running for Hollywood's most adorable couple. They make music videos. They write dirty, pun-filled tweets to each other for their birthdays. And as if we didn't love them enough already, Dax Shepard shared an adorable (and slightly embarrassing) throwback photo of he and Kristen Bell to Instagram on Monday to remind himself how lucky he is to have her.
9 years ago. And unfortunately that bottom lip isn't from injections, it's Skoal. That's right, I landed @kristenanniebell while in the throes of a nasty dip habit. Thanks for being an optimist, honey.
Kristen Bell knows better than anyone that love means accepting your partner's flaws and also being okay with them sharing throwback photos with their many, many Instagram followers.
On Tuesday, one of the women who accused Donald Trump of sexual assault is filing a lawsuit against him, according to The Daily Beast. Her lawyer Gloria Allred, who represents three of Trump's accusers (of which there are at least 13), is holding a press conference today in Los Angeles at 11:30 PST to discuss the details.
A different woman, represented by lawyer Lisa Bloom, accused Donald Trump of rape and was scheduled to give a press conference in November. However, the press conference was canceled at the last minute and the lawsuit was dropped. That woman, known only as Jane Doe, claimed that Trump had raped her when she was 13 years old. She canceled the press conference due to fear, according to Politico, because she'd "received threats."
Donald Trump has previously threatened to sue anyone who accused him of sexual harassment. Gloria Allred, in return, said she'd recommend that her three clients cross-complain against him (meaning file lawsuits of their own).
U.K. singer Jamelia Davis was traveling on a train with her daughter last Thursday when she had an unpleasant encounter with a racist stranger. As Davis described in a series of tweets, a woman in her 40s approached her and her 11-year-old to ask whether they first class tickets—seemingly because they were the only black passengers in the car. Coupled with the fact that this woman didn't work for the railroad, Davis's story is especially outrageous. And that's exactly why it's going viral.
You know when you have a lovely day & someone just kills your vibe? 😒
So @Jamelia timeline is LOL/depressing right now.Had the same experience a few times, the satisfaction of having that 1st class in your hand pic.twitter.com/l1PbCJECYT
But then there were the inevitable trolls. Some Twitter users turned the story back on Davis, accusing her of making assumptions based on her own prejudices.
@Jamelia You're way too quick to pull the race card. She had no business asking u that, but u constantly accuse ppl of racism.
As a mother of two with a professional music career, Davis didn't have time to reply to each of these chumps individually. And by this point, her story had started to go viral outside of Twitter. Media outlets were contacting her to ask for a statement, but rather than indulge them all, she chose to respond to everyone at once, by publishing a statement on her own website.
In the piece, she explains what happened in more detail than she did in her original tweets. She also expresses surprise that her story shocked anyone, because it's hardly an isolated incident. Then, she responds to everyone who accused her of "playing the race card," by mentioning that if she and other black people tweeted every time they experienced racism, it would flood the social network entirely.
She concludes with this message about why, as a parent, she felt the need to speak out.
I do not want to keep quiet about it anymore. We serve no-one by remaining quiet, if anything this renders us complicit in the continuation and validation of this behaviour. It is not ok with me, and it shouldn't be ok with you. Most importantly, i'm teaching my girls not to be ok with it either. I absolutely refuse to send my daughters out into a world that tells them NOT to speak up when someone hurts them. The only way that will happen is if we are all brave enough to put these important conversations on the table now.
Take a look at this picture of Haylie Baldwin, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner taken at the Golden Globes after party.
The pic, posted to In Style's Instagram, immediately became flooded with comments from mystified fans trying to figure out what happened to Kendall's other leg.
The commonly accepted answer is this one, perfectly explained by commenter britney.jacobs:
They all have their legs crossed and Kendall has her left leg (covered by her dress) under her right leg. It looks a bit funny because she's twisting to face the camera. You're welcome.
Thank you.
Here we've outlined the missing leg, in case you still can't see it:
About two months ago, this video of Lizzy in her ballet class unexpectedly went viral. The Delaware resident is still unsure how exactly her Instagram video took off, but she is glad it did. “I’m very happy that someone has discovered me,” she told BuzzFeed.“It’s a whole new thing for people where I live.”
But don't call Lizzie "plus size." The young ballerina is glad she is inspiring body positivity, but doesn't want to be labeled because she feels it separates her from her dance community. "If I can do everything that anyone else can, why should I be in a separate category?" asks Howell.
Howell is now using her new found internet stardom as a way to bring awareness to pseudotumor cerebri, a condition she has been diagnosed with that results in pressure inside the skull increasing for no reason. She uses dance as a way to cope with the chronic condition and the subsequent anxiety that comes along with it.
In just a few short weeks, Lizzie has gained over 40,000 Instagram followers who are happy to see body diversity represented in the dance field. And Lizzie is definitely happy to share her inspiring gift with them.
With only a couple days before what is likely to be history's least entertaining inauguration, it seems inevitable that Donald Trump will become our 45th President.
Inauguration Day is turning out to be even bigger than expected. January 20th, Washington D.C. Have fun!
But Twitter has other plans. They can't stop Trump from becoming the president, but they can stop him from becoming the 45th president. All they have to do is make Joe Biden the 45th president first.
"Obama should resign a day early to make Biden the 45th President just to ruin all of Trump's merchandise."

On January 14, a man named Thanasi Papoulias (who speaks both English and Greek) posted a phone video to his Facebook wall of a racist woman telling him and his wife Sophia Antonopoulos-Papoulias to "speak f**king English, this is America." The awful woman, who was standing behind the Greek American couple as they spoke to each other in Greek, is apparently a self-appointed member of the language police, and she doesn't want anything but plain ol' English, even if she's not part of the conversation.
The text accompanying the video reads,
So this just happened...
Sophia and I were in line at the market, and naturally, speaking Greek. Out of nowhere this lady behind us decides to give us a modern history lesson and tells us, "Speak F*@king English, this is America." Furthermore, she demonstrated her well-versed use of the English language by using every swear word to describe us and how we don't belong here. Imagine if we were with our kids.
Huge props to the manager for kicking her xenophobic, racist ass out. I only caught the tail-end on video, but you'll get the point.
The manager handled the situation in a truly admirable manner, telling the woman in no uncertain terms that she's not welcome in her store. The shopper says she wasn't harassing the couple, but what else would you call butting into someone else's conversation to tell them what language you'd prefer they speak?
The whole point of America is freedom. When people say, "It's a free country," that's exactly what they mean. You can worship who you want, say what you're thinking, and look however you please.
This is America, speak whatever the hell language you want.
Caroline, an Office fan from Ohio, used her Dunder Mifflin expertise to try and spice things up on Twitter. Using just quotes from Assistant to the Regional Manager Dwight Schrute, Caroline used quotes to pose as a beet farmer on Tinder.
And the dude was surprisingly into it, and more surprisingly didn't make an Office joke after reading "beet farmer."
yesterday i convinced a boy that i am a beet farmer by using quotes from the office pic.twitter.com/3xzSEJGVfz
The 7-year-old performed T-Swift's 2008 hit "You Belong With Me." And she nailed it, from the extraordinary confidence and hair flips, to that recognizable "omg I can't believe I'm famous!!!" facial expression.
The audience and judges were so blown away, you'd think they'd never seen a child with perfect vocal range strut around in pancake makeup and a "sexy" costume before.
Fresh Off The Boat's Eddie Huang was not pleased with Steve Harvey's recent comments mocking Asian men, and now he's speaking out about it.
In case you're not familiar with the story, Steve Harvey found himself in hot water recently after making tasteless jokes about Asian men on his show, which you can see below.
In the bit, Harvey asks the women in his audience if they like Asian men, and then says, "I don't even like Chinese food."
Huang, who is the author of Fresh Off the Boat (the book that inspired the TV series) shared his response to Harvey's comments in a NY Times op-ed. Huang talks about the book Steve Harvey referenced on his show, How to Date a White Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men, and stated that he never thought anyone would take a "gag" book seriously, until he saw Harvey on his show. Huang writes:
Yet the one joke that still hurts, the sore spot that even my closest friends will press, the one stereotype that I still mistakenly believe at the most inopportune bedroom moments — and I know Joe and Steve do as well — is that women don’t want Asian men. Attractiveness is a very haphazard dish that can’t be boiled down to height or skin color, but Asian men are told that regardless of what the idyllic mirepoix is or isn’t, we just don’t have the ingredients.”
Eddie Huang went on to point out in his response how odd it was that Steve Harvey, who has spent a lot of time trying to uplift the black community, didn't seem to have a problem encouraging stereotypes about another marginalized community. He writes:
That’s why this Steve Harvey episode is so upsetting. He speaks openly about issues facing the black community, he is a man of God, and he has a huge platform to speak from. Unfortunately, he’s also the type of guy who orders Krug champagne for himself and Cook’s for every one else. For his own personal profit, he’s willing to perpetuate the emasculation of Asian men regardless of how hypocritical it is.
While Eddie Huang was certainly entitled to complain about Harvey's comments, it seems he's not innocent when it comes to generalizing.
According to The Root, Huang said on an episode of Bill Maher's show back in 2015 that being an Asian man in the dating world is a lot like being a black woman.
“I feel like Asian men have been emasculated so much in America that we’re basically treated like black women," he said. "... When I sit on OkCupid no one wants to talk to me either.”
Ohhhhh boy. Here's an idea. Let's all stop talking.
Steve Harvey apologized for his comments in a tweet on Tuesday.
With MLK weekend over, Americans are facing a seemingly endless future of five-day workweeks. But luckily, Dr. Pimple Popper is here to ease our suffering with our most soothing guilty pleasure: pops. Today, she's turning up the heat with a dense medley of extractions, including some milia, some blackheads, and for the truly nasty popaholics, some skin tags. If you can watch those things get snipped off without wincing, you truly have nerves of steel.
If popping is a drug, we don't want to get clean. And Dr. Lee is our favorite pusher.
Tiffany Trump and her mom, Donald Trump's second wife Marla Maples, tried to get a hairstylist to work for free by offering her "exposure." The hairstylist decided to expose them, instead.
According to the Washington Post, D.C. hairstylist Tricia Kelly was recommended to Maples and Trump by a long-time client to get them all glammed up for Donalt Trump's presidential inauguration, but when she quoted her rate - $150 fee to travel in addition to the cost of her services - the president-elect's ex immediately began to bargain her down.
“I was told they had a $300 budget for both of them for hair and makeup,” Kelly says.
Ummm, doesn't Donald Trump have billions of dollars?
Right. Why can't he pay for his ex and his daughter to look nice at the most important event of his life?
Through communication with Maple's assistant, Kelly agreed to receive $200 for hair for the both of them, as well as $150 for a makeup artist to get them ready.
Despite the already incredible discount, things got even weirder.
The assistant asked Kelly if she and the makeup artist would be willing to work for free in exchange for "exposure." Meaning, Maples and Trump would praise her work on social media.
“I was stunned,” she said. “I told them . . . I work for a fee, not for free.”
Maybe they're just cheapskates, or maybe they really don't have the money, but either way, Kelly turned them down. This story would be plenty of exposure for her on its own.
Maples PR have not commented on this, but that's not where the story ends. Apparently, the contact that originally connected Kelly to Maples became angry that Kelly dared defend her need to be paid, and sent her a threatening message saying, “You are messing with the president of the United States."
Ruh-roh.
The contact explained that Maples was worried about her financial situation now that she no longer received child-support payments for Tiffany, and added, “she is used to a certain lifestyle and you don’t understand that.”
Yes, it must be very hard to understand what it's like to have sired the president-elects most neglected child. But it's also pretty hard to pay your bills with exposure.
Gutierrez looks amazing and is obviously crushing at life, so when I first read this, I interpreted it as: "Dads! If you're there for your sons, they could turn out this great!"
I guess I was wrong.
Twitter immediately hung Walsh up to dry for being a judgmental homophobe. The best burn came from Gutierrez's pal, fellow YouTube star Scott Hoying:
@MattWalshBlog While he inspires and uplifts countless people worldwide, you have a hateful blog that no one reads ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is Manny Sr. Let me first begin by telling you that I’ve always been there for my son and will ALWAYS be there for him. Not only am I proud of what he has accomplished but I’m more proud of the person he has become. I know the words you speak are from lack of knowing anybody from the LGBT community. If you did, you would soon realise they are some of the most real and kind hearted individuals that walk this planet of ours. Going forward, I would choose your actions and words wisely. Just like you would do anything for your family, I would DO for mine. Good day Sir.
But imagining things is soooo much work! Thankfully Reddit has done the job for us. Redditor Baz-Ravish recently asked: "If President Obama wrote his tweets the same way that Donald Trump does, what would have been some of his signature tweets over the past 8 years?"
And the internet delivered. Here are some of the best:
We're gonna shut down Guantanamo and make Cuba pay for it!
These are all hilarious and on point. And sad! Because this Friday, the ACTUAL PRESIDENT will be tweeting like THIS! System is rigged! What now @FoxNews???
The magazine described 10-year-old Suri as mom Katie Holmes' "mini-me," which is hardly controversial. People have been saying this for years. And by "people" I mean People, which is my favorite thing to read at the dentist.
Anyway, just when you thought we can finally, as a country, agree on this ONE thing.... along comes Us Weekly. The rival gossip magazine (idk if they are actually rivals but it makes this more fun) tweeted this yesterday, seven hours after People's tweet:
