Britney Spears assures a pranked internet that she's not dead.

Britney Spears is not dead, despite a really lame attempt by hackers to spread a rumor that she is. The hack, which targeted entertainment firm Sony Music and musician Bob Dylan, first tweeted from the Sony Music Global twitter account that Spears was dead, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It's since been deleted, but initially it read:

"RIP @britneyspears

#RIPbritney

1981 - 2016"

Then, seven minutes later they followed up with a tweet revealing "more information."

"britney spears is dead by accident!

we will tell you more soon

#RIPbritney :'("

The first red flag is that the tweets were a pretty big departure from the tone and style of Sony Music Global's account, which typically posts about the birthdays of musicians on the label or new songs being released, and uses proper punctuation and capitalization. Not to mention, Britney Spears is not even signed to Sony Music; her latest album was made with RCA. Was it our hackers first day on the job?

Their next choice, and my personal favorite touch to the whole story, is that the next account they targeted to help corroborate the death hoax, was Bob Dylan's. You don't even have to listen to music to know that Bob Dylan would maybe be the last person on earth to tweet about Britney Spears' death. The guy barely acknowledged that he won the Nobel Prize after days of silence. Then, he didn't attend the ceremony to accept his award. I don't think he has anything personal against Britney Spears but he clearly prefers to remain out of the public eye and doesn't post much on the internet. His tweet read, "Rest in peace @britneyspears :'(" which is funny because I simply cannot imagine Bob Dylan using an emoji ever.

The thing about trying to hack Britney Spears is that she is pretty un-hackable. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes of the early aughts, the pop icon has recreated herself as a force still to be reckoned with following a period of mental instability. If Spears can come back from a shaved head and put out fresh bangers while raising two sons, then there's no way this lame attempt at a death hoax could ruffle her feathers. Indeed she was so untroubled by the hacking attempt that she didn't even bother to directly make a statement on it. Instead, the way that Spears confirmed she was alive was by tweeting a series of photos of herself as all three of Charlie's Angels:

Not only is she not dead, she's Charlie's freaking Angels. Yes, Britney. Yes.

Björk calls out sexism in the music industry in the most Björk way possible.

After her recent DJ set at a music festival in Texas, Björk couldn't help but notice a difference in the media coverage of her sets and those of her male counterparts. She posted an open letter to Facebook recently to call out sexism in the music industry, and she did it in the most Björk way possible. This may be the most whimsical take down of sexism you will ever read.

Posted by Björk on Wednesday, December 21, 2016

Here's what Björk wrote:

dear little miss media

!!!! happy winter solstice !!!

as you know the majority of my career i havent moaned about sexism and just got on w it . but im feeling there is an enormous positive current in the sky , a flow w possible changes

so i wanted to mention one thing

last weekend i djd twice at a festival in texas . it was a magical event with some of my favorite musicians djing : aphex twin , arca , oneoh trixpoint never and matmos ... the list is endless !!

most of us played mostly other peoples music and would slide in instrumentals of what weve been working on recently

i am aware of that it is less of a year since i started djing publicly so this is something people are still getting used to and my fans have been incredibly welcoming to me sharing my musical journey and letting me be me . its been so fun and the nerd in me editing together pieces of others peoples songs for weeks , gets to share the different coordinates i feel between some of the most sublime music i know .

but some media could not get their head around that i was not "performing" and "hiding" behind desks . and my male counterparts not . and i think this is sexism . which at the end of this tumultuous year is something im not going to let slide : because we all deserve maximum changes in this revolutionary energy we are currently in the midst of

its gotta be worth it

anyways

women in music are allowed to be singer songwriters singing about their boyfriends . if they change the subject matter to atoms , galaxies , activism , nerdy math beat editing or anything else than being performers singing about their loved ones they get criticized : journalists feel there is just something missing ... as if our only lingo is emo ...

i made volta and biophilia conscious of the fact that these were not subjects females usually write about . i felt i had earned it . on the activist volta i sang about pregnant suicide bombers and for the independence of faroe islands and greenland . on the pedagogic biophilia i sang about galaxies and atoms but it wasnt until vulnicura where i shared a heartbreak i got full acceptance from the media . men are allowed to go from subject to subject , do sci fi , period pieces , be slapstick and humorous , be music nerds getting lost in sculpting soundscapes but not women . if we dont cut our chest open and bleed about the men and children in our lives we are cheating our audience .

eat your bechtel test heart out

but i know the change is in the air . we are walking inside it . therefore i leave this with you in kindness at the end of this year and i hope that in the next year even though i was brave to share w you a classic female subject matter : the heartbreak , i get to have a costume change and walk out of this role . you froze edith piaf and maria callas in it ( not one documentary i have seen about her doesnt mention onassis but no mention w male musicians the women they loved or broke their hearts )

lets make 2017 the year where we fully make the transformation !!!

!!! the right to variety for all the girls out there !!!

onwards

merry christmas

Dr. Pimple Popper (a.k.a. dermatologist Dr. Sandra Lee) is back with another huge lipoma removal video. (Get it? Because it's on the patient's back? You're welcome.) While these seem more like surgery videos than popping ones imho, all you popping fans still seem to love them, so here you go—enjoy watching the pimple-popping pro eject this fatty, benign mass from the back of another satisfied customer.

Gotta admit, this woman loves her job.

Australian police give off major 'Arrested Development' vibes in pun-filled Facebook post about loose seal.

Posted by Tasmania Police on Sunday, December 25, 2016

The Tasmania Police had a seal-ton of fun with the strange occurrence, naming the beast "Mr. Lou-Seal" and making pun after pun as they posted photos to their Facebook page.

"After a sealiously big morning," wrote the police, "Mr. Lou-Seal" is "now a sealebrity."

The name "Mr. Lou Seal" obviously brings us back to that iconic episode of Arrested Development, when a passerby tries to warn Buster that he's about to be attacked by a "loose seal," but he thinks he's shouting "Lucille," the name of his over-protective mother.

"Loose seal! Watch out for loose seal!"

"I don't care about Lucille! "

Mr. Lou-Seal has been collected by wildlife officers and will be released to a more appropriate location than the hood of a Toyota after a medical check-up. Buster appears to be safe on the set of Veep.

Sneaky kitten hilariously ruins a little girl's Christmas morning surprise.

Cats are enigmas. Sometimes they love boxes and sometimes they hate them. But when it comes to doing what you expect of them, cats almost always refuse to comply. This Christmas, two parents learned the hard way that hiding a kitten in a box (even a box that appears very humane) for a big holiday surprise leads to the most anti-climactic reveal of all-time.

The very sneaky kitten manages to leap out of the gift box it was being kept in and run behind the Christmas tree (a classic cat move) without the little girl even noticing, so when she opens up the giant box which her parents have presented to her, she finds it empty. "NOTHING?" she asks in a confused and high-pitched voice. It's even funnier because the parents brought in the box very ceremoniously and excitedly implored her to open the box just moments before. Laughter can be heard from behind the camera, as her mother has caught the whole thing, including the escape and the ruined surprise, on camera.

Luckily, as the cat runs from behind the Christmas tree over to the couch, it's visible for just a moment. The daughter turns around and is able to see her new gift. Her shock and tender appreciation for the Christmas kitten will warm even the coldest of hearts. Even though the surprise might have been ruined, the video capturing the prolonged reveal more than makes up for it. You can watch the Christmas morning surprise gone awry here:

Woman suing SoulCycle claims brutal workout sent her to the hospital.

A woman is suing SoulCycle after a particularly intense workout at the popular cycling chain allegedly sent her to the hospital.

According to TMZ, the woman, Kaila Cashman, claims that during her first ever SoulCycle class at the Rye Brook, NY location back in 2014, the instructor kept increasing the torque on her bike and instructed her to keep pedaling.

After the workout, Cashman says, she felt sick and went to the hospital. She was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, which is a condition that leads to the rapid breakdown of muscle tissue. (After some intensive medical research searching on Google, I have confirmed that intense exercise can be a cause of rhabdomyolysis.)

Cashman is suing SoulCycle for causing her to be permanently injured, both mentally and physically.

Yikes. Be careful exercising out there, folks. Maybe we should all just stay home and eat pizza instead.

George Michael donated millions to charity, but didn't want anyone to know.

As you've probably heard, the talented and wonderful George Michael died on Christmas Day. Apparently 2016 wasn't quite done with its reign of evil, so on December 25 it decided to take the pop singer and Wham! founder (he was Wh-) on its way out. He was only 53. Oh, and thanks for ruining Christmas, death.

And as if losing a lovely, funny, accomplished (he wrote"Careless Whisper" at 17 and "Last Christmas" at 21) musician weren't enough, it's now coming out through various media that George Michael was also an incredibly generous man. Like, way beyond Band Aid generous. And most of his donations were anonymous.

According to The Guardian, George Michael's charity work with Band Aid ("Do They Know It's Christmas?") raised over £9 million for Ethiopian famine relief. He donated the royalties from Wham!'s Last Christmas/Everything She Wants single to the same cause. The money from his duet with Elton John ("Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me"), he gave to the children's charity Rainbow Trust and the London Lighthouse AIDS hospice.

George Michael would apparently often set aside seats for NHS England staff and once dedicated an entire free performance to a group of nurses as a thank you for taking care of his mother when she died of cancer ten years earlier.

According to The Guardian, George Michael donated £50,000 to SportRelief when British comedian David Walliams swam the English Channel.

The list goes on and on. If you lived in England anytime in the last 20 years, you've probably gotten money from George Michael. And he made a point of keeping his donations anonymous, because it wasn't about him, it was just about being charitable.

He gave a waitress a £5,000 tip.

He donated £100,000 to a children's charity every year on Easter.

He gave a stranger £15,000 for IVF treatment.

He gave another stranger £25,000 to pay off her debt.

He volunteered at a homeless shelter.

And one woman tweeted, "George Michael worked anonymously at a homeless shelter I was volunteering at. I've never told anyone, he asked we didn't. That's who he was." (Interesting. George Michael was the exact opposite of Donald Trump, who wants kudos for money he almost definitely didn't even donate.)

George Michael volunteered at a homeless shelter! If that doesn't inspire you to help someone less fortunate than yourself this holiday season, then there's no hope for you.

Pregnant server receives a $900 tip because not everything sucks.

A server, bartender, and soon-to-be mom in Phoenix, Arizona got a wonderful holiday surprise from a patron earlier this month in the form of a $900 tip.

"You always hear about these things happening, but you never expect to be the recipient of it," Sarah Clark told KPHO. "It's a huge, huge help for me and my family."

Clark is nine months pregnant with her first child, due January 8th. She and her fiancé will both have to miss some time at their jobs in the restaurant industry in the near future, as he is scheduled to have surgery to repair a leg injury.

Clark said that she had interacted with the customer who left the generous tip before. The woman is also pregnant, and the two had chatted about their pregnancies. Clark told KPHO that she didn't notice the huge tip until the customer had already left after picking up a take-out order.

“I couldn’t believe what I was looking at at first because it was such a high amount. $900 is a lot of money. It took a while for it to set in, and once it did I cried for a little while,” she said.

The customer left a sweet note for the server along with the huge tip that said, "This is God's money -- He gave it to us so we could give it to you. God Bless."

"I don't know if she really understands how much this is going to help us this season," Clark said. "Me being on maternity leave and him being out of work, we're not going to be making any income. So this is really going to help with rent and other bills and things like that."

Good people are out there, kids.

I want to spend the rest of my life trying to get out of debt with you.

The internet is losing its mind looking for this missing pair of legs.

This photo shows six women on a couch, and only five pairs of legs. Go ahead, count them.

This is the M.C. Escher of group photos.

The third woman in from the left... her legs! Where are they?

These are the presiding theories:

1. The second girl's legs are actually pointing toward the left, one leg is behind Girl #1, and the other leg is on top of Girl #1.

Here, a redditor illustrates this idea:

This still doesn't show where Girl #2's second leg is, but it's a start.

Notice that ankle showing between the shoe and jeans on the yellow leg? Even if that is one of the missing legs, whatever is happening with Girl #2's body is very strange.

2. The third girl's legs are spit down the middle.

This is when it really pays off to sit on the arm of the couch.

Again, Girl #2's leg is on top of Girl #1 here, but for this scenario to work, Girl #2 would have to be wearing jeans with different colored legs. Gross.

3. Girl #3 actually has no legs.

Sometimes the simplest answer is the right one.

This is not the first time the internet has struggled to understand a woman's legs. What do you guys think?

Ingenious 6-year-old teaches us that fingerprint phone locks are very easy to hack.

If you think that locking your phone with a fingerprint scanner is safe, think again, especially if you're the parent of a particularly precocious child. Six-year-old Ashlynd Howell taught all of us a lesson in cyber security when she used her mother's thumb to unlock her phone while she was sleeping, and then proceeded to go on a shopping spree.

In a piece about how internet shopping has made the magic of Christmas more difficult to keep alive, the Wall Street Journal reported on several incidents where kids figured out what they were going to find under their tree, including the story of Ashlynd's impressive hacking skills. But Ashlynd didn't just use her mom's phone to sleuth around and find out what her mom had already bought for her. No, Ashlynd had bigger plans. She found her way to the Amazon app and, "$250 later, she has shopped for all her Christmas presents on Amazon," said her mother, Bethany Howell, of Little Rock, Ark.

How did her parents find out what had happened? Well, the 13 order confirmation emails for Pokémon items might have been a tip. At first they thought that Ashlynd might have bought them by mistake. Clearly they didn't realize that Ashlynd is a pro online shopper. "No, Mommy, I was shopping," was her response, according to Ms. Howell. "But don’t worry—everything that I ordered is coming straight to the house," she assured them.

Ms. Howell also added that Ashlynd is "really proud of herself." Now there's someone who doesn't wait around to get what they want. Today's youth truly are our future.

Let's pretend to accomplish something at work between now and the new year.

Little girl's teddy bear speaks in her late grandfather's voice, causes instant tears.

Jennifer Ramos, a 16-year-old from Oklahoma, tragically lost her grandfather last year when he passed away of a stroke during a robbery.

"We're used to having my grandpa around for the holidays," she told BuzzFeed News. "It's been really sad for us not having him."

Here's how Ramos' aunt kept his memory alive on Christmas Eve, gifting Ramos' two younger sisters with a very special teddy bear.

"So my grandpa passed away tragically about a year ago and my aunt got my sisters a teddy bear that has a recording of my grandpa's voice," wrote Ramos.

Each bear speaks an "inside joke"—that the family happened to have on video— between the kind grandfather and each of his granddaughters, in his voice, punctuated by his laughter.

Said Ramos: "I think that's what got them, his laugh at the end."

A woman gets a used camera for Christmas, finds incriminating 'gayngster' pics on it.

This is Twitter user Taen Johnson.

She was really excited about the used camera she got for Christmas. Then found out the previous owner forgot to remove his memory card, leaving her with some extremely incriminating photos.

The photos were so specifically the type of pictures someone would never want to go public that, after Taen posted them to Twitter, they were shared over 55K times.

Dude in a ski mask holding a giant f--king gun.

Exhibit A, your honor.

Weed. Looks like this is a movie file for some reason.

Doesn't even look like good weed, tbh.

And a dude getting twerked on while a guy lights a joint in the background.

FYI, Taen clarifies that this is a woman twerking on that dude.

Taen, like the rest of us, was confused to say the least.

Some people think they know where the pics are from.

Others were worried about the previous owner's freedom.

But for sure, these photos were the gift that keeps on giving.
